    Dope lofi with the po33. I been using the po regularly for about a year and didnt really think about using the live volume option for levels lol. I was using the step sequencer and adjusting the volume independently for velocity changes and ghost notes. Always something new to learn with the PO.

    Another very nice demonstration of what this tiny box can do. A friendly tip: if you're trying to live record some tricky note input or drum parts and it gets tedious to hold down the write button, get a little clothespin or gentle little clamp and put that on it. Then you are free to use both hands to play into the sequencer record.
    P.S. I don't know why your PO-33 is double-triggering when you're in live record mode. That's kind of weird. Mine doesn't do that.

      Matt Greer Music tryna put this with a DJ controller and synth&mod keyboard. Would I even need a big beatpad/sampler like akai? Just wanna scratch with the turntable and make lo fi instrumentals with the synth

    when finding samples to use on the PO.. whats your tip in identifying a sample worthy for the PO.. example.. are you looking for a certain Bpm range to fit your drums your created on your PO? also listening for samples that have different notes, to be able to chop? sorry noob question here

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  3 года назад +2

      huge trial and error. For every sample that works I'd say I go through 3 or 4 that don't. Look for samples with no drums but have a melody that you can rearrange, thats my best tip

    Trying to use a DJ controller for scratching and a modular synth for the master keyboard to add more sound. Would I even need a big sampler/beatpad like akai to make lofi beats like this or would the PO be alright? the PO would right along a DJ Pioneer 800

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  4 года назад +1

      I personally find the po very fiddly to use. If you have the money I would definitely recommend something bigger. I see the po as more of a fun thing to play around with on the move. I don’t see it as a serious piece of equipment but that is just my opinion. Others could say different!

    such a good beat! Did you record that as one long sample into the drum section to get that chopped up effect? Or was that sample recorded into the melodic section? Cheers and Happy Holidays!

      It depends on what you are sampling out of but I use phono to 3.5mm jack. www.amazon.com/JEXON-STEREO-3-5MM-AUDIO-CABLE/dp/B003L91J16?dchild=1&keywords=phono+to+3.5mm+jack&qid=1627375773&sr=8-36&linkCode=sl1&tag=tcd87-20&linkId=17f385fd9b466f45f19058e48989cf39&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

      It has some stuff already in there yeah. If I remember correctly it has 12 patterns loaded in that you can play around with

    Dude, that beats is really really dope. Definitely interested in hearing the finished product.
    I stumbled on this program that can be installed on a graphing calculator, it’s called Houston Tracker 2. I’m thinking I can use that to work on some ideas and sample it into my SP. Not sure if you’re into that 8 bit sound, but thought I’d share nonetheless.
    Good luck finding employment, that sucks dude, unless of course it frees you up to make this your career, right?? ;)

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  5 лет назад +1

      Nice man yeah I used to be into it a bit but after spending quite a bit of time trying to learn trackers and not getting results I got bored in the end. Thanks yeah it does mean I have a lot of time to do content at the moment lol

    Are you able to record without quantization? Thinking about picking one of these up for beat-making.

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  5 лет назад

      I’ve not figured it out myself but I’m not amazingly clued up on it yet. Might be worth a google!

    • @MattGreerMusic
      @MattGreerMusic 5 лет назад +1

      There is no unquantize on this machine but it does have swing which can help humanize the beats quite a bit.

    • @lukewest2193
      @lukewest2193 3 года назад

      I know im late but there is no unquanitize in the sequencer. I always record drum samples with space at the beginning and end so I can manually unquantize with the quantized sequencer by leaving empty sound at the start of the sample. If you want a sample to trigger a little early, leave more space and record the hit on the step before you actually want it to hit.
