The 2-3 tricks that really did it for me and made this PO amazing, don't know if you heard about it : - You can do ratchet with drum sounds : In step edit mode, hold the step you want to ratchet and press bpm once (you can press it again to add more slices up to 8) -You can copy a specific step (meaning, with all its effects, tone, volume, filter) by holding its button down, and then you can paste it. - You can copy a melodic sample into a drum slot. It then slices it into 16 equal parts (thus its different from the algorithm that slices a direct recording into a drum slot which looks for transients) It makes it WAY easier to have well trimmed drum sounds (You can program 2 bars of sounds on each 1/8th note in a DAW (or whatever) and record it in a sound slot (trim it so that it's exactly 2 full bars) then copy it) -The same principle applies to a longer melodic samples that you can chop perfectly and then play with like you would one an MPC or any sampler. I really have a blast any time I play with it. Great video.
Thanks so much for the video. I have a po 12 that I don’t use often enough and then I forget stuff. So now I decided to get this one which is coming tomorrow. Hopefully I can solidify the basic ins and outs and keep them in my brain from one to the other. They really are so much fun. Take care and enjoy your new gear !
At 1:32, you say you're choosing button 5, but you actually press button 9, below it? I guess you meant to say 9, because that's in the drum bank (9-16) and 5 is in the melody bank.
Lost me, shortly after pressing write and selecting some sounds. I think you may have pressed play shortly after. Im guessing the happy coments either weren't complete beginner's or read between the lines. Do you have a beginner beginner video😄
I love combining the Tonic with the OP-1, but I'm sure the KO! works just well too! I lent mine to a friend, and haven't tried it myself, yet. Keep up the great work on videos!
Is there a way to record notes in chromatically pitched using the step sequencer? You recorded the entire melody on the OP-1 so you never had to program an actual melody on the PO sequencer. Is it possible, or is the only way to record chromatically live? I'm looking for a tiny thing to record arp sequencer I "hear" in my head to quickly capture melody ideas and they're typically faster than I could reasonably record in live, so a way to record it in the step sequencer is important. 😊
Do you know if it is possible to use the Po33 as the master and start op-1´s tape? I want to sequence the drums with the Po and record the audio to the tape so I don´t lose the stereo field on the Op-1.
@LiamKillen so record the high hat pattern 4 different ways in 2 separately melody slots I should be able to play both type of hi hats at the same time mixing it up
great video my dude, quick question, i feel like my knob A is super sensitive, like damn near impossible to trim and adjust the filters. Did you have the same experience or is my PO just boosted?
that's not all 😭 ... how to delete a whole pattern? on the back of my PO stands CLEAR >> 1) hold record 2) click pattern ... but this doesn't clear the pattern, do you know how?
Do you have any idea what the website means for the pocket operators not to surpass the 5 volts peak to peak when syncing them together? I know you can connect like all of the models together which is somewhere around 8 or more, little worried what this means as I want to pick a few more of the models up. :)
Is this cool therapy for you to… it is to me. Music. Is the key 🔑I don’t own t a drum machine. But what about line from mixer from a deck ? For phono samples..also
U did recommend the tr6 s. It’s super easy to get going tho sometimes I get hassled with my pro beat sequences.. like I get propper nice tunes normally break beat melodies. But don’t know how

Hey I have a question! When I'm making a drum pattern. When I go in to write it still lights up the knobs I used for a different sound even tho i last clicked another sound. So I can basically play one sound per knob. Does anyone know what im doing wrong and how I can fix this??
I don’t have my PO with me but try experimenting switching back between write and perform to plug in new sounds...might have something to do with that.
First tutorial that actually helped. I've had this thing for 2 years and just did some quarantine learning haha.
That makes me happy to hear! More PO goodies coming soon 🙂
@@LiamKillenwhat are you playing them through ? An amp or laptop ?

Great video.
I knew of some of these and will definitely be covering this in future videos. Thanks for you input! 🙂🙂🙂
Yup. Finally someone who knows how to explain the device in a clear way. Thank you!!!!!!
Glad to help!
One of the best tutorials I've seen. Thanks.
🍻
I agree it’s refreshing to watch a tutorial that is as instructive.
I appreciate that! ❤️

That's really great tutorial for beginners! Thanks for contribution to KO community
My pleasure- planning on doing another one of these pretty soon

I may sound weird by saying this but your sample reminds me of some kinda electro version of ‘Putting on the Ritz’
Is that like an old jazz standard?

Great vid! Just ordered mine! Are there any preloaded drums or you load everything upon arrival?
there are preloaded drums but it's super easy to upload a new sound.

You can record chromatic notes with the PO 128- all of the other POs you're stuck with the notes programmed!
@@LiamKillen Really? I just saw someone use p locks on the PO-33 to change pitch!
#PO33GANG !!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to be part of it!! 🙂
Can you blend the po-33 with a midi fighter? This would be a awesome build yes ?
I’m not if you mean like a midi po 133
Do you know if it is possible to use the Po33 as the master and start op-1´s tape?
I want to sequence the drums with the Po and record the audio to the tape so I don´t lose the stereo field on the Op-1.
You might need like a midi hub for that sort of manoeuvre
@@LiamKillen op-1 to midi host to volca to pocket operator and back to the op-1 🤪
Is it possible to save a high hat pattern to play automatically fully on repeat a 2 step with putting in into a slot
If I remember correctly, as long as there’s nothing else playing in that kit and there’s not too many other layers- it should work
@LiamKillen so record the high hat pattern 4 different ways in 2 separately melody slots I should be able to play both type of hi hats at the same time mixing it up

Thank you! That sounds like a busted PO though 🙁
@@LiamKillen NNNNNnnooooooo, lets call it a performance enhancement feature
@@NorthGameStudio Creative enhancement- hehe
Are the samples from the op 1 synched to match Bpm of the PO or are they already at the same BPM..?
I'm pretty sure that all of the tempo syncing I did in this video was manual.
I messed around with it before looking at tutorials and now it literally does nothing the same as everyone else’s
🤔
THANK YOUUUUUUU
cheers!
@@LiamKillen you helped more than the other videos on here 🙏 very in depth
Great! I have one question: how to change quantity of loops in chain? For examle from 8 to 4?
example: hit pattern 1 4 x and pattern 2 4 x and they will both loop 4 times :-)

It’s not really much of a. issue for me.
IMPORTANT - DON'T MISS THE LIVE SEQUENCING OPTION! Hold the WRITE BUTTON and add LIVE aditional Notes to your Pattern! 🐼

Yeah music = therapy for sure for a lot of people.
Yeah TR-6S is almost always my leading entry lvl drum machine that I recommend for pretty much every genre.
yo how did you get your mini sync cable so buttery straight?
I can’t remember lol
I can Relate to the Tempo knob sensibility. lol
That’s the most annoying thing about it I would say.
Yeah, I even ended up replacing the knobs with less sensitive ones
