- Check it Out!
Today I'll be discussing how we acquired these 3 broken snow blowers.
In the upcoming weeks, you'll see us taking parts from each of them to build 1 good snow blower for our personal use here at the shop.

Feeling a bit under the weather this weekend, so we'll see you back here next week for some repairs!
Get well buddy
Well worth the purchase price provided they come with the engine, even if it is blown up parting it out makes a lot of money. As an example those fuel tanks list around $190 Cdn and the chute control assembly is $189 Cdn. Well done cant wait to see the finished product hopefully before it snows again.
Yes after all said and done, we should actually make a small profit and have a snow blower as well
I brought a Bolens snowblower home that had wore through the nylon axle bushing on the sprocket side causing the chain to snap. Those bushings are no longer available so I cut 6 inch by 6 inch squares from a Craftsman with bronze bushings and bolted them over the existing bushing holes on the Bolens which fit perfectly. I swapped engines to the 318cc flathead Tecumseh after swapping camshafts and sump covers because it's the counter rotating pulleys type. I can do this thanks to you and other people that share knowledge so thanks again.
Thanks for watching, good job on the fix, parts are getting harder to find especially with back orders now.
NIce work changing out the three to make one. Thanks for the video.
I'll try to break down my costs a bit better too in the next one, or maybe at the end once it's all done. I may end up making a small profit and get a snowblower!
Looking forward to watching the build
Thanks Brant!
Cool video. Good idea 3 coming together as one.
Thanks Jimmy.
This type of snowblower by AYP at this year range (2006) are worth it. Good construction with a console which is solid. Quite unlike the later ones.
Yes Husqvarna, Poulan, MucCulloch and Craftsman. Could be others as well?
Backstories are always interesting.
Felt like giving some context so people have an idea of where I'm getting all these engines and snowblowers
Three into one because of the price of those machines in today's economy state Glad you are going to be doing taking them apart to make one of those snow blower
Yea if I had to buy one comparable, it would cost $1700 easily here in Canada, plus tax. We'd be into it for $2000 by the end of it. Once this one is done, not only will I have a nice working snowblower, but we may make a small profit too
@@EliminatorPerformance cool that you are saving your money 💸 by building a new one out of the three that you got
That was a fun video. I got your not wayne regarding video success. Thanks. i can't seem to find it again. LOL
Thanks for watching, and what are you looking for Bruce?
I believe i also emailed you regarding that error i made on the livestream
With your determination and ability you'll have a nice blower soon enough.
Hope you get to feeling better Jake. 👍
Thanks John!
The old mans just feeling dapper John guess it is just the good living or the one brandy coffee every day eh?
Anytime Jake and Mr Wayne my money is on the spiked coffee. 🤣
Well done 3to make 1 I like doing that
It'll work out great, we'll have the nicest of the 3 in my opinion and at least have a running engine that I won't have to sink money into
I like the video and I have a 26 year old MTD snowblower that is in great condition, looks like new and runs like new mines garage kept. I did the same thing you did I bought one that needed a new carb cheap, I stripped it and now I have spare parts. I got a question about a Craftsman carb #951-12705. There is a adjustment screw by the mounting hole can't find out anything about it, what does it do, what's the setting for it (how many turns for fully closed)? I hope you feel better soon my wife and I were sick for 2 weeks, hopefully you can point me in the right direction for this adjusting screw.
That screw all the way in will protrude the needle inside the carb and close off that jet. I personally have never had to adjust one but i believe when i last ultrasonic cleaned one it was 5 to 5.5 turns out from all the way in. Jake may know more about this i will pass it on.
@Wayne Stefinashen thanks I appreciate your help, can't find any info on that screw. I will do as you said and adjust the acrew 5 to 5.5 turns out. I hope your feeling better, and thanks again.
Wheelin & Dealin brother! Gotta love it! Do u edit on a pc or phone? Which software or app do you prefer?
PC, I use Adobe premiere elements 15.
Next RUclips channel - “Give 2 Jakes Small Engines”. 😂👍🔧🔧
@@Rein_Ciarfella Speaking of new names i gave a flipper "5 Star Small Engine Repair" as a name for his business but he wants to use our Eliminator name and i told him it was registered to i think he is going to use All Elite Performance instead. I thought 5 Star was a great name.
@@Rein_Ciarfella 🤣
Good day Jake. Yea flu cold is going around. So does this show that the 14-50's have a problem with crankshafts or some other issue?
Last week or week before about sockets or box wrenches about flling down , never seen that before.
Thanks
The 20M engines have issues with the connecting rods breaking. Both the 1450s had this failure. However, as you'll see in my next video, it's not related to the lack of throttle control, as 1 engine had one, and the other didn't.
@@EliminatorPerformance Thanks
Nice little ‘fun’ project Take care Jake. Rick
Looking forward to it Rick!
11:05 the serial number says 121808M, that means it was made on Dec 18, 2008.
Thanks db you are correct.
Yes I figured must have been after the 2005 safety standard, so 2008 makes sense. The other one is a 110510H so November 5th, 2010? 2yrs newer but stored indoors, big difference!
@@EliminatorPerformanceyou got it. I look forward to seeing one good snowblower out of three.
It's always good to play with house money. Keeping all these older snow blowers and combining them together at such little cost and still being able to sell parts off of them, is like playing with house money. Keep up the good work. 😊👍🏿#stihlpower #stihlisyourdaddy #stihlrunstheyard
Well put patrick, we like to call it free money once our initial cost has been recovered.
So far all I’ve done is scavenge a part here and there off various machines to get other ones going - a carb, a bar and chain, a coil - that kind of stuff. Jake has taken it three levels up from there but I’m working at it! 😉👍🔧
Just keep on plugin away. We have been so busy there has been little time to get at our own projects of equipment we purchased.
It is amazing what a good hoard can produce , and make you all kinds of money . Which is the name of the game . Looking forward to the video .
Unbelievable what used parts can be sold for, just have to wait until customers come forward with equipment that requires what we have on hand. In most cases we sell used parts for 50% of list price but some of our equipment we have purchased only had an hour on it (no oil installed prior to use) and those parts go for just under list price normally save the customer the tax.
I wish I lived next door to you-- I would help you for free- I am retired
Thanks for the offer armyvet but it would put me out of the business of helping Jake out.
Thanks!
@@waynestefinashen239 Hahaha! 👍
@@Rein_Ciarfella You like that one eh?
Interesting as they appear to be ayp/poulan. We had a 27 inch poulan dropped at our church dumpster. It had a blown 9 hp tecumseh flathead. I bought a used briggs 1350 blower engine. It turned out to have a wider mounting bolt pattern. I made up a 1/8 steel plate and bolted it to the chassis using tecumseh pattern and over lapped the mounting area for 2 of the motor bolts. Those bolts are on right side where the chassis angles down to the side.
Yes these engines are incredibly easy to remove and install, 6 bolts!
The side angling down was why there was no space to simply drill new holes in the flat mounting area
@Eliminator Performance what's the distance between the side to side motor mount holes on the 1450 and 1350. As said, mine were wider the flat mounting surface. Chassis box is 10 inches wide but top mounting surface is only 6 or 7 inches wide due to side tapers. Bolt distance was 7 or 8.
@@kenhilson786 Measured ours, same width, but I can confirm you are correct. They technically take different mounting plates. I will simply swap them around if needed. The holes they drill for the engines are the same though. Everything looks similar other than a cut out on the back of the 1450 plate and some overhang. While the 1350 plate has no overhang and a small cut out on the bottom. The 1450 takes a 436146X615 and the 1350 uses a 423185X615 in case you were wondering. Will investigate further before part 3, as I'm just editing part 2 now.
@@EliminatorPerformance not sure what you are referring to by plates and their part number. Will you be showing that in the videos?
I got my 1987 montgomery wards blower for free- it will be the only blower I will ever own-- the newer ones do not even compare to it --- free is good
Free is best
I got a Wards 5 HP snow blower for $20 (partially disassembled) at a garage sale. I put it back together with new belts, lubricated it, and used it for 20 years. A good machine, but really heavy. I now own an electric which isn't as heavy duty, but much easier to use.
Never saw one so checked out Mustie1 video on a Montgomery nice solid build but the original tires look like they would be an issue for traction?
mine has solid wheels@@waynestefinashen239
@@armyvet4081 So did mine, and they were worn almost smooth by the time I retired (not replaced the tires, even if that is what it sounds like) the machine. It needed to have the carb rebuilt a second time and I didn't think it was worth it.
👍👍👍
Thanks Pete
Totally loving this series, Jake! A bit confusing there for a bit, but I get it - build a great machine with all the bells and whistles, in mint condition, for sweat equity. 👍🔧
Yea I probably could've organized it a bit better but I've been filming clips here and there when I've had time. We've been busy with so many snow blowers, this has been a side project for the past few weeks
a very good deal from these 3 snowblowers there jake , 👏
Thanks!
@@EliminatorPerformance yes sir your welcome.
