It saddens me cuz I'm 61, and although I've had a great life, we'll never get those days or years back, but we had great music from those years....cherish
I remembered hearing this song for the first time around 1972...I was four, and my Dad first purchased his 1972 Chevrolet Caprice...he washed it, waxed it, and took me and my brother a ride around Chicago. He was playing this song, and I remember riding in the back seat looking out the back window, enjoying the summer breeze...memories
58 year old metal head, but you absolutely cannot beat good true soul music. Was raised on this stuff, Ojays, Isley Brothers, Parliament, Brothers Johnson and soo many more, ohh can’t forget the late great Barry White, luv all of’em. Much Respect
Same!!! Metal Head immersed in Soul, Funk, R&B and Disco. Parents played this since before I could walk. Now 50 years later, still strikes a chord. We are the byproduct of Parents. They listened to everything and passed that open-minded thinking on to me. Never had children of my own. Guess the road ends with me.
@Christopher Carpenter same boat as you but I've gotten lucky 2nd time around and my step daughter has given me two wonderful grandsons I've already started them off right. This one goes to top of their Playlist
I feel like dancing already listening to this song. It has the perfect tune rhythm to jump on the dancing floor. I have danced it so many times and still today I do even sitting in my car when driving. And I don’t care who is watching me…..I enjoy The Spinners and “I’ll Be Around” 🎵. They guys were fantastic, all of them from that decade were great musicians and artists had wonderful songs. Long live this kind of music 🎵 always. 💃🕺🎵♥️
I'll turn 76 this coming Saturday ( 9/25/21...born 9/25/ 45 ). When this song came out I was 27 years old, and it seems like yesterday! We had the most awesome music in that era, and probably didn't realize it at the time. Anyone reading this who is young please take special note: time passes very quickly, enjoy every minute of your precious life. Stay away from substances that'll cut that precious life way too short. Many are dying around us of addiction to opoids...fatal overdoses are common in all aprts of the country. Living to old age may have its problems, but it sure beats checking out in your teens, 20s or 30s - causing untold grief to the people left behind.
You absolutely did have the most awesome music. I'm 41 year's old and I have not been able to listen to today's music for 12 years now, not even comparable
Thank you for the music on my way to to church to read and deliver a thank you card to my minister and his wife for there spiritual support during my healing of a head injury
This song deserves to be considered as one of the greatest songs of all time. Just listening to it gives you a literal tour through time. And this song amidst all the dead artists still stands above them all!!!
Good music has that effect... It's timeless! So many songs from the 60's and 70's have that effect. I guess that's why it was called Soul Music. It soothes the soul, even 50 years later!
I TOTALLY AGREE!!!! I started crying because so many don't reach out any longer😔 I'm there whenever they need me, 110%. Musical perfection without a doubt!
I was 3 years old when this classic was echoed throughout neighborhoods from NY to LA. A toddler twirling on living room floors. And here I am 49 years later still playing this timeless track! A Bruhda from another vibing with all backgrounds because of The Spinners! Family!!! Musicaly connected. Universally heard!!!
This song- till this day July 19th 2022 still brings me high joy in my life from riding into the sunset on the highway from the horns that just immaculately gift this masterpiece, “I’ll be around” by the spinners is truly a gem.

Born in 1961 and I am 61 now lol There was a time when the Radio was as big as the Internet is today and Music was Listened to all day everyday same with playing Records it was all Audio no video's no pictures we listened to every word more closer then people do in today's World ... I grew up in a Suburb of Detroit Motown was all over the Radio. I remember when there was ONLY AM Radio no FM.. lol I remember a time when there was no Microwave Ovens lol only stovetop or the oven lol I also remember back in the 1960's our Milk was Delivered by the Milkman lol
*I still am amazed at how vibrant the string section is. You can hear the scratch when the rosin on the bows go against the strings. I'm a musician and sound engineer. The string section is the most difficult to reproduce on a synthesizer or even a computer. Computers can only Sample but never generate from Scratch, the sound of strings. However, this arrangement is the best music. The musicians and the backing band are absolutely the best. You can feel the magic because everything went perfect. This song will Be Around for Forever*
My biggest regret is missing all those Motortown Revues at the Fox Theater. For a lousy $2 you got to stay all day and see every act Motown had. Somebody please shoot me and put me out of my misery.
I was 9 years old and hustling for money on the streets. This song was my keeper. It kept me going in a time of poverty and neglect. I survived it all. This tune kept me alive. Forever grateful.
I don't care how much money you have or how pretty you are, you can't buy class or style. These brothers had it, still do for the surviving members and out sold every r&b band in the 70's. They never get the full recognition they deserve. I saw them live at Magic Mountain outside L.A. of all places in the 70's. First come first serve, the seats went down from the entrance about 30 rows and 50 feet. Once they opened the ropes, I raced in to get a front row seat at the bottom. there were so many people. I remember getting pushed and I rolled down 20 rows to the front row. I was bleeding from my head. I stayed put and danced (very woozy) from opening song to finale. My friends then took me to the hospital where i received 6 stitches. It was worth every one plus the scar. "I'll be Around" bless u all and mother earth!!
Back then music like this was everywhere we took it for granted and enjoyed it ,we were immortal and thought those times would last forever .....how wrong we were but we have our memories of these the best of times , take care and be kind to everyone ✌️
Beautifully put...I'm 58 so i was like in my lower teeens 10 through 17ish through the best of times at least for me... and come back to real music such as this!! Thank goodness for (RUclips)...
This is our fork in the road Love's last episode There's nowhere to go, oh no You made your choice Now it's up to me To bow out gracefully Though you hold the key, but baby Whenever you call me, I'll be there Whenever you want me, I'll be there Whenever you need me, I'll be there I'll be around I knew just what to say Now I found out today That all the words had slipped away, but I know There's always a chance A tiny spark will remain, yeah And sparks turn into flames And love can burn once again, but I know you know Whenever you call me, I'll be there Whenever you want me, I'll be there Whenever you need me, I'll be there I'll be around, yeah Whenever you call me, I'll be there Whenever you want me, I'll be there Even if I have to crawl, I'll be there I'll be around Just call me on the phone, I'll be there I'll never leave you alone, I'll be there Just call out your name, I know I know you know I'll be around I'll be skipping and jumping, I'll be there I'll be a-rippin' it up, I'll be there I'll be calling out your name to let you know I'll be around
This sets my soul free every time. If you can openly communicate your love to the people truest to your heart, do it every chance you get. We are not guaranteed another day, hour, or minute of life together..
Takes me back to a time where soul music was the only thing that sooth my restless soul and a revel heart. It was a time when my father's love and understand inspired me. A gentle giant of only 5'10" tall but his calm grace help me in so many ways. This song was a statement of his love to me and my brother and sister which he lived up to till his death in 2003. So when I play this I hear his words of support all around me . . . . .
In 92 at my wedding to my beautiful wife the cover band at our reception played this wonderful song by the Spinners and I remember dancing to it just brings back great memories
My grandfather Gruaig Neamh showed me this song when I was only a young boy growing up in the fishing village of Galway. I’m an old man but I think of it everyday, so much has changed since but I remember everything the second this plays. It brings me back to a simpler time. God bless us all
In the 70's when I was a kid my Dad would sometimes take me to work with him on the weekends. If I sat very quietly they would let me sit next to the engineer...little did I realize it was Sigma Sound Studio and Joe Tarscia, I was watching musical history be made. My Dad was in the horn section for many of these groups. What a gift these great talents gave us. Long live Philly Sound!
That is so cool! When my dad took me along to work I had to toss garbage sacks in the back of a truck while he drove. I was like 10 or so. Your childhood was better.
I was 8years old when this song came out this is when music was outstanding I will be 60years young next Thursday July 4th and I am still listing to all the spinners music today in 2024 the spinners will never get old I have a CD with all the spinners music on it the music from the 60s 70s and 80s is the best music of all times sometimes I wish we could go back to the good old days when everybody loved one another and had respect for each other and kind had respect for their parents
When my Daughter was a baby whenever I couldnt calm her down I would put this song on and dance around with her in my arms and it would make her smile, she is almost 20 years old now and sometimes I just wish I could still do that when she is having a bad day.
I fell in love with the Spinners back in my high school days during the beautiful 70's. I feel young again every time I hear them sing. Awesome soul angels sent to us from above!!
@@jimimorgan7427 :umaas Pumas are black naturally, Why did they feel it necessary to ad that to their name? God, it seems is no longer taking care of fools and babies, Grow up my people.

Theres a 9 MINUTE VERSION?!?!?! This is one of the ultimate love songs along with The Spinners other heavyweight "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love". Solid groove, beautiful strings and bitter sweet lyrics.
Wish those times were back. Parents gone to heaven now. On their birthdays, I go to the cemetery Place flowers down. Then my siblings and I turn on the spinners, marvin gaye ,barry white, and many others to jam with mom.we talk ,cry, and remember good times.
I absolutely love listening to music from the 60s 70s and the 80s back when music actually moved you made you feel something and you couldn't help but dance I am 57 years and I enjoy nothing better than playing these old songs and dancing and having fun with my grandkids music is part of our history pass it on
@@billklaes7235 Very true but the artist that are making music like this don't get played on mainstream radio. They are considered underground. It's a shame .
One of my favorite songs. I'll be around. The Spinners had everyone dancing all night with this song. When I saw them in person years later. They still sound the same. Wow. Love them. 😊😎😇😍😘😂😂
Neally everyday i have to play this and close my eyes and dream of how things were back in the late 60s/70s/80s i had so much fun clubing thank you DJDiscoCat your version is Awesome brother .
It was, indeed, a very special and fun time to be alive. With Disco, one had to have been there to understand and appreciate the magic in the music. Oh, to be young (I was in my teens/early 20's) and alive and stepping out into the world to these tunes. It was truly a generation's soundtrack. We were lucky to have had this and to still have it, even in our later years. I'm 60 years old now, and when this music plays, I am transported in my heart and mind back to a time when things were new, simpler and exciting.
@@Theodorej1960 yes, indeed! Just immediately takes me back to the dance floor & dancing almost all night. Lol As long as the DJ kept the music pumping! 💃🕺
Found this cos of a movie with Zack G, have had this version on repeat the past month. This should really be one of the most known songs ever. This track is beyond words
There's a lot of great music here. I also see a lot of wonderful comments. Its nice too know there's a lot of people who appreciate great music. I love the seventies music. 😊
Wow , Beutiful, what a perfect collaboration, the writeres the lyricist, the musicians and the singers! Pure Purrfection at its finest Papa Cat, thank God for this beautiful arrangement for all your hard work making it all come together for the fans , This is music at its finest. Had anything happened different it would not be the classic it is today.
This is the best rendition of this song. The beautiful comments in regards are wonderful. It was a beautiful song by an incredible singer during a wonderful time in life. Blessings to those who enjoy this…😊💕💕💕
Superb! I'm German, 60 years old and I love black music. This was the time I realized something was wrong with me. I have/never had any interest in the music of my country. My music (Black Music) comes from the USA and it will always stay that way. This music reaches you deep inside and has been with me for a lifetime!
There i nothing WRONG with you...that is what music is supposed to do. It reaches everyone regardless of race, creed or color. Continue to listen to the music and jam on!
@@docktorb I see my first post was contradictory for some. In German, "not true with me" is a synonym for how far one has no interest in something, for example with knowledge and will, that the majority of one's own population consumes. Sorry for the misleading wording.
OMG what a tune, I was 15 in 1972! Motown was the business and still brings back great memories from the 70's. Stay safe everyone and love from Liverpool, UK xx
The production of the music was sooooo nice then taking you away to another place strings, bass, drums, keyboards, xylophone, horns great music production. Ohhhh real music was sooo soulful n funkeeee!
I ripped the audio and placed it into my music library. Driving around the other day with the stereo pumping, this came up on the random playlist. It was my first time hearing it this clearly. I didn't realize how the DJ did a heck of a job of bringing the strings to the forefront. As I rocked out to this, it made me just appreciate how much of a genius Thom Bell was as a producer. The attention paid to the strings and bass line was awesome. Great work, Mr. DJ.

I'm 58 years old and I miss all these things you've wrote daily. From New Jersey.
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing this.

I'm a 54yr. Old white guy and late 50's thru the late 70's was the shit with Motown
Such classics and talent.
This was the best music

My biggest regret is missing all those Motortown Revues at the Fox Theater. For a lousy $2 you got to stay all day and see every act Motown had. Somebody please shoot me and put me out of my misery.
I was 9 years old and hustling for money on the streets. This song was my keeper. It kept me going in a time of poverty and neglect. I survived it all. This tune kept me alive. Forever grateful.
I don't care how much money you have or how pretty you are,
you can't buy class or style. These brothers had it, still do for the surviving
members and out sold every r&b band in the 70's. They never get the full recognition
they deserve. I saw them live at Magic Mountain outside L.A. of all places in the 70's. First come
first serve, the seats went down from the entrance about 30 rows and 50 feet.
Once they opened the ropes, I raced in to get a front row seat at the bottom.
there were so many people. I remember getting pushed and I rolled down 20 rows
to the front row. I was bleeding from my head. I stayed put and danced (very
woozy) from opening song to finale. My friends then took me to the hospital
where i received 6 stitches. It was worth every one plus the scar. "I'll
be Around" bless u all and mother earth!!
That's what I call true grit! Rock on!
Back then music like this was everywhere we took it for granted and enjoyed it ,we were immortal and thought those times would last forever .....how wrong we were but we have our memories of these the best of times , take care and be kind to everyone ✌️
Well said brother !!! All the best for you and your family !!!!!

Love's last episode
There's nowhere to go, oh no
You made your choice
Now it's up to me
To bow out gracefully
Though you hold the key, but baby
Whenever you call me, I'll be there
Whenever you want me, I'll be there
Whenever you need me, I'll be there
I'll be around
I knew just what to say
Now I found out today
That all the words had slipped away, but I know
There's always a chance
A tiny spark will remain, yeah
And sparks turn into flames
And love can burn once again, but I know you know
Whenever you call me, I'll be there
Whenever you want me, I'll be there
Whenever you need me, I'll be there
I'll be around, yeah
Whenever you call me, I'll be there
Whenever you want me, I'll be there
Even if I have to crawl, I'll be there
I'll be around
Just call me on the phone, I'll be there
I'll never leave you alone, I'll be there
Just call out your name, I know I know you know
I'll be around
I'll be skipping and jumping, I'll be there
I'll be a-rippin' it up, I'll be there
I'll be calling out your name to let you know
I'll be around
All these years gone by and I had no idea I was singing the wrong lyrics!

This sets my soul free every time. If you can openly communicate your love to the people truest to your heart, do it every chance you get. We are not guaranteed another day, hour, or minute of life together..
I love this comment...so true
Takes me back to a time where soul music was the only thing that sooth my restless soul and a revel heart. It was a time when my father's love and understand inspired me. A gentle giant of only 5'10" tall but his calm grace help me in so many ways. This song was a statement of his love to me and my brother and sister which he lived up to till his death in 2003. So when I play this I hear his words of support all around me . . . . .
Rip mr Francisco sounds like a great and loving dad I know you miss him as I miss my parents 😢 💔 😞

I love this song. The legenday Spinners. One of my all time favorite R&B groups of the 70's, & 80's.
The fabulous Detroit Spinners. How we miss that kind of music now-a-days!
In 92 at my wedding to my beautiful wife the cover band at our reception played this wonderful song by the Spinners and I remember dancing to it just brings back great memories
The extended instrumental is icing on the cake. Love it, love it, love it.
Me too!
My grandfather Gruaig Neamh showed me this song when I was only a young boy growing up in the fishing village of Galway. I’m an old man but I think of it everyday, so much has changed since but I remember everything the second this plays. It brings me back to a simpler time. God bless us all
Your Gramps had soul!
R.I.P.
That's amazing.
This is so heartwarming. And amazing. I'm happy you have such wonderful memories 🥰🥰
Wow! How many people can claim they had THAT experience?! How exciting! Thanks for sharing that, I can’t even imagine.
I wish I was there with you. Sigma had a lock on the entire Philly Sound, Gamble Huff, Thom Bell, Joe Tarscia and many more !!!
That is so cool! When my dad took me along to work I had to toss garbage sacks in the back of a truck while he drove. I was like 10 or so. Your childhood was better.

Neally everyday i have to play this and close my eyes and dream of how things were back in the late 60s/70s/80s i had so much fun clubing thank you DJDiscoCat your version is Awesome brother .
I feel it too
It was, indeed, a very special and fun time to be alive.

In German, "not true with me" is a synonym for how far one has no interest in something, for example with knowledge and will, that the majority of one's own population consumes.
Sorry for the misleading wording.

DJ.
