In this video I made a comparison vs the 2 similar bikes. Explained my reasoning and why I prefer 1 over the other.

I race a 2001 r6 in the pre injection 600 class in the uk. Ive actually been looking at these zx6s around 2009 can’t wait to try one. Just a thought you should change the rear tail on the r6 and get rid of the standard seat and get one wear u can jus put thin foam like u have on the Zx6r think that could help give u abit more space on the tank as you’ll be sitting a little bit lower. Nice vid can’t wait to see your racing this season.

Nice!!! I'm actually changing the seat to SBK tail for 2024 season.
      I'm hoping more feel.

For sure getting the suspension and geometry setup on the kiwi is needed. As well as the usual custom valving and suspension tuned for you, find somewhere that has: zero chassis software and laser measurement aligning equipment. Workshops that have experience supporting race teams usually have the good equipment, and best to have new/correct tires before the geo setup too.
The other thing you need to check with the kiwi is the tune at 10%, 20% and 30% throttle, that's what'll give you that stability on corner exit.

That's some awesome insight!!!.. I actually have it listed for sale.. but part of me says I should get this bike dialed in for me.

@@BAF-Racing Obviously it depends on your own situation, goals and budget. Getting a bike set up to race competitive level is not cheap. From what I hear that ZeroChassis thing is worthwhile and it's also pretty interesting to just have a look at if you want to geek out on bike stuff too.

@ZANGI3F for sure. Well not in a rush to get rid of the zx.. if it sells for what I want it for, great! But this bike is nicely setup. So if I end up keeping it. I don't mind as well. But as of right now I'm focusing on finishing the new r6 build and see where we stand for 2024 season on-board that bike.
Your absolutely right. This ain't a cheap sport. So prioritizing finances towards the best gain is the game plan for now. And I think I can be highly competitive with the new r6 if I gel with it... "if is the key word" lol.

I’ve owned both as well and currently race a 13’ 636, I prefer the Kawi, better ergonomics, better clutch, and the engine makes power through the rev range. That would be a better comparison to the R6, as they didn’t make any major changes until the 2017 revamp.

I completely get you. I really liked the ergonomics of the zx. like i said i dont exactly know why i felt more comfortable in terms of body position. The biggest thing for me was that I felt there was alot of feedback that i feel from the rear. and i dont really understand how to translate it since i wasnt used to the bike. I treated it like how i ride the R6. It threw me off. I worked with our local suspension guru to try and fix that rear feeling but no luck.. I couldnt open the throttle mid corner...
BTW i hate facing against 636 specially when its nicely tuned.... corner exit the 636 just pulls away.
I've subscribed to your channel as well. 👊

On the 636 I love the front end feel and its always been planted for me, but now that you mention it, there also isn't a lot of feel in the rear but that may be due to stiffer compound Dunlops I run. With the ergos on the 636 it feels as if your sitting down into the bike, the r6 feels as if you're sitting on top of it.

Done, I've subbed. I appreciate your support.
Honestly, I wanted to gel with the zx6r.. but regrettably, the time and $ to spend relearning a new platform was better off being put towards the r6 since I was already comfortable with it. I still think the zx6r is an amazing bike. Clearly a fast one.

Awesome video man! The ergonomics on my R6 were part of the reason why I switched to the CBR600RR. Then again I have much more (street) seat time on the RR so in a way, my feedback is bias as well. If the kids say the blue bike is better, then the blue bike is better!

Hahaha!!! You get it. Sometimes the best bike is the one that you are the most comfortable with.

On the ZX6R I suggest you lower the front 3mm and add an 8mm shim on top of the rear shock. This will really help stabilize the bike in turns.

I did talk to my suspension guy about it. That and also putting on softer rear spring. But according to him, from what I was describing he does not believe that that is it.
I don't remember if I made some adjustments to the front. but I know I measured the weight. The front is at 174 lbs and rear at 162 lbs.
Working with my suspension guy, we made several adjustments to the settings. Then I guess I got fed up trying to get that right feeling. 🤦‍♂️

@@BAF-Racing I’d be curious to find out what’s the cause. I don’t “seem to be” having the same issue you are having mid-turn, but I’m barely an intermediate level track rider so I’m guessing you’re pushing it a lot harder than I am.

    • @BAF-Racing
      @BAF-Racing  8 месяцев назад +2

@mikedominick yea I couldn't push with the bike. I wanted to gel with it. I guess I could still, and I'm sure I can get there eventually. But i didn't want to lose all that time and effort. especially when the competition keeps getting better. Still an amazing bike.
