As a prostate cancer survivor, I applaud Stephen's encouragement of early testing. I caught it very early. If you do, you have a great chance to survive.

What are the red flowers everyone is wearing on their lapels?

    • @herbieshine1312
      @herbieshine1312 Год назад

      Poppies.
They are warn as a remembrance for the armed forces from Britain and the commonwealth.
The money from the sale of the poppies goes to fund causes to help recovery and rehabilitation of wounded service people and other causes associated with service people.
The poppies worn in this video are cheaper paper/ plastic ones. You can buy "nicer" ones made from silver, gold, stainless steel, etc
Typically they are worn from the end of October up to remembrance Sunday 13th November and some times longer depending on personal preference.
There are also ceremonial remembrances were wreaths of poppies will be laid at war memorial sites.
The "royal" family will lay wreath's as will the leaders of the main political parties.
There are a couple of days when a 2 minute silence will be held nationwide.
      11/11 and 13/11.
Shops will stop serving, schools will go quiet, people in the street will stand still, TV programmes will fall silent.
It's not compulsory but is widely observed.
Poppies were chosen as the symbol of remembrance inspired by the poem "In Flanders field"
It may be easier to suggest doing an internet search rather than me trying to give all the information and possibly getting it wrong.
You could search royal British legion, armistice Day/ remembrance Sunday and the poem "in Flanders Field."
      Hope that helps

      hello, the poppies?
they grew in the killing fields after the first world war and have come to represent memory of the awful war and remembrance of the fallen and wounded.. the lapel flower badges are often sold (usually a charitable donation of a pound or whatever you think is appropriate) and the money goes toward military charity..?
pretty sure i got it about right.. maybe it's just a British thing, but not sure about that..
