My favourite joke ever in Blackadder Goes Fourth
Hugh Lorrie's character thought General Melched said "Organist" as they walked through a doorway
      But he'd said "Organ"
Paradoxically, it's hilarious because there's nothing amusing about it

Isnt it Christianity that says that we are better than animals. It isegotistical to think we are tge best.
They might do telepathy. , that would nean that they named each other. Anyway, in thought you dont need a name, just the memory of that animal with a fluffy tail or sone such. Just a visual image of the specues.
What do native Indians believe on the subject?
Would heaven be boring without tigers?
Why wouldn't God want them up there I wonder?

As a personal parallel , my own GP here in Germany explained very similar reasons for his administration of strong pain killers to me when I had severe pain due to an injury. He said - I translate - " Unrelieved severe pain can lead to long term nerve damage and to possible permanent disability and/or mobility issues. If we can lessen the pain, we can help your body work against the damage at a higher level of pro-activity, and by stimulating the nervous system ensure a better level of eventual recovery". It's, I think a wonderful explanation of the science behind pain control. They have huge hospitals and clinics here in Germany entirely dedicated to pain therapy.

For me, the very best enjoyment I experience from SF is that he doesn’t speak, lecture, and otherwise pontificate as if he knows anything. I appreciate him because he speaks on the things he is learning. That is a big difference. I’m sorry you were injuried but I’m sending good thoughts. Thank you for being on the planet.

Theists like to think that the Bible's book of Genesis is the only real and true story of the world and our own beginning but that is only because it is familiar to us. There is no ostensible difference between any culture's creation myth and every culture has one.

I can't remember which art event it was, ten or more years ago, and I'm not really the star-struck type; but I saw Stephen Fry walking through the large crowded foyer all by himself, so I went up to him and said, "I just wanted to thank you for your contribution to culture.", to which he thanked me very warmly back.
He's the kind of guy you wish you had as your secondary school English or History teacher... when actually his knowledge makes it seem as if he could teach just about anything really, with an equal amount of infectious passion, enthusiasm and almost childlike curiosity and sheer joy.

We created the gods, goddesses to explain what we can't.

A good teacher does NOT tell you what to think, they encourage you to think and discover for yourself.
I believe in that way Stephen has encouraged us all to look beyond what's right in front of us, and whilst I don't agree with some of the stances he's taken, I do find the fact it's a starting point to debate not a decree when he speaks...
I wish he'd do something like Time Team for ancient mythology, with a comparison between Greek, Nordic and others.
