What is a Soda?

A soda is a traditional Costa Rican restaurant that serves local food prepared in traditional styles. The style is referred to as "Criolla" or "Criollo", and centers around main courses of chicken, beef, and pork. Rice & beans prepared as Gallo Pinto is also a common dish served, and you'll almost always find a fresh jar of pickled peppers at your table as a condiment. The soda featured in this video is called Soda Santa Fe, near Upala in Alajuela. It's in an out-of-the-way place up in the hills near Rincon de la Vieja, and if you find yourself near the Blue River Resort, it's worth a stop for a meal!
