Dr Barbara Peterson, the Texas veterinarian who first reported bird flu in infected cows back in March also reported this.
"At the same time, on almost every farm with sick animals, Petersen said she saw sick people, too.
We were actively checking on humans,” Petersen said. “I had people who never missed work, miss work.”

Thank you. I will continue masking and taking other precautionary measures for respiratory illnesses whether it is H5N1, SARS-cov-2, RSV, influenza viruses, or other H and N types viruses.

IF this virus is destined to get going efficiently in humans, it is hard to say what the evolution of that is going to look like. We really are deficient of previous models. With the '09 H1N1 pandemic, the recombination event to allow efficient transmission seemed to happen very suddenly. There was no opportunity to get blood samples from the people or animals as that virus underwent the key evolutionary steps. The last pandemic flu emergence before that was in 1969 when testing and surveillance was a far cry from what is taking place today. The testing being done is out of an abundance of caution and the results may be seemingly alarming, but for all we know have happened many other times in regions of the world without as many surveillance resources. This case in Missouri may have come from a cat or a rodent; both of those animals have been observed to easily get infected and to be highly susceptible, as well as developing respiratory symptoms.

Hopefully the workers got something totally unrelated to bird flu. CDC said today they felt it was pretty unlikely the workers got infected since the viral load was so minimal

Were the symptoms experienced by the health care workers who took care of the human bird flu patient due to bird flu or due to something else, such as COVID-19 or RSV?

There is someone that comes to my small town selling unpasteurized milk. I was ignorant and just thought pasteurization made it last longer to be sold in stores. I know a lot of fitness minded types believe it’s healthier. But I googled it and realized I could catch bird flu from it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the patient that had no animal contact for it from unpasteurized milk.

H5N1 is evolving from a natural reservoir as we might predict. We might be one unlikely mutation from something horrible, but only time will tell. Covid-19 on the other hand came out of nowhere and we still can’t find a natural reservoir. Just something to keep in mind.

    • @christopherrobinson7541

We have not found the original animal reservoir, but there are many animals types that can get COVID-19 and pass the SARS-CoV-2 onto humans.

What are the current odds we have vaccines (for poultry / cattle) that produce cross-reactive antibodies against current H5N1 strains?

No one died and the illness was so mild. Bird flu kills as many as 50% of the time. Maybe these are all false positives ?

    • @WhiteboardMedicine
      @WhiteboardMedicine  3 месяца назад +3

Interesting thought! The genotype sequencing is pretty darn accurate so it seems that they are true H5N1 positives. What we wonder is whether the variant that jumped into cows and can infect humans is less deadly than previous variants that had the 50% mortality rate

Well I know there are people drinking unpasteurized milk here in missouri. There is a lady that comes to town once a week selling it. At first I just thought drinking unpasteurized milk would give probiotics and pasteurizing was for making it last longer. Tried it once and it didnt sit well with my stomach so I stopped. Then I read you can get bird flu from unpasteurized milk and I realized how dumb it is. lol so anyway, I know there are a lot of folks drinking it.

Shoes worn outdoors should be left in a covered box outside of the house because the virus remains active on surfaces for two months. It is very easy to step on bird poop in neighborhoods with mature trees and large populations of birds. We have crows everywhere, ducks and Canadian Geese pooping everywhere and it is unavoidable for people and dogs not to step on it. I live in Ohio and my dog is dragging germs in on his paws every time he goes outside on a walk and exposing our cat to those germs. Finding solutions for prevention is key.

All humans get sick....it happens due to the abundance of Toxins in our environment.
Guess what happens on a genetic level when our bodies are loaded with toxins such as "dust" , "smoke" "alcohol" "radiation" etc....?
They find this thing they call "Corona" in Humans....
Along with a bunch of other things like Killer T-Cells....
