Since a lot of people here have played their own countries' versions, according to Wikipedia the games played in Western countries originated from the Japanese version, while other similar East Asian games don't necessarily have a single source written down (that I could find)! :D "President (also known as Scum, Asshole, Arsehole (in British English), Kings, Scumbag (in Australia[2]), Janitor, "Man of the House", Landlord, Rich Man Poor Man and many other names), an Americanized version of Dai Hin Min..." -Rachel
Rachel & Jun In France as a student, i'm used to play it called : "President" or "Asshole" and it's very funny, in small parties, we're playing it as a drinking game, and in the end, it become difficult to think about each other minds X') ! In our version, the rule I love the most, is when somebody put any card (aside the 2) you can put the same card on it, but it affects the player after you, he has to put the same card or he has to pass, or put a joker for exemple : Player 1 : 3 of spades player 2 : 7 of diamonds Player 3 : 7 of clubs Player 4 : 7 of whatever or pass or Joker (but it will be the 7) This rule is perfect to keep away the futur President, or anyone else from the win :D !
Rachel & Jun It's similar to polish makao but more complicated. In polish version you take only 5 cards at the beginning and you can make someone pick up cards or "stun" them and if you have to pass you take one card.... it's kind of weird when I think about it :D
I used to play this at lunch time in Canada, around grade 5! We called it "President". This is really cool to see these kinds of things being shared around the world!
Rachel glad you see us as friends I watched the Givemeaflake man Interview video and whoa. I really respect you, your really inspirational. My dream is to go to japan in order to fulfill that dream i had to move to mexico to study engineering. I haven't seen my parents in over 2 years. I want to go to japan but not as a emotional teen that just wants to go to japan and cause problems to the Japanese. I want to be useful to them. I'm studying mecatronics engineering. Right now i'm going to enter a sumo robot competition need to start working to pay for the parts. Hope i win ;)
That is so awesome!! And I really glad to hear about your desire to be useful! I've always felt that way about me with my job and the country I live in, too. :D Thank you for saying that--I don't usually hear about people who feel that way, too! Good luck with the mecatronics! That sounds like such a cool career field and I'm sure it takes a lot of math way beyond anything I could do. Respect. XD -Rachel
Wait, what?! A video with Gimmeaflakeman?! You guys must live close to each other I guess, or at least not very far. Nice to see youtubers from Japan on the same video :)
This was so fun to watch. Learning to play a new game and just listening to you guys speak. Switching between Japanese and English so fluidly. I wanna be able to do that one day. c:
OMG! This game is really common here in Spain! Here it is called "Comemierda" which literally means Shit eater haha! It's a bit different though, because we play with the Spanish Deck, not with the French one. So, instead of pikes, clovers, tiles and hearts, we have coins, clubs, swords and cups (we use the French deck too, but only for some games like poker). By the way, in the Spanish version you're not supposed to continue with the same symbol, as long as the card you use is equal or bigger to the previous one it's fine. Oh, and we have the 2 of coins, which is the biggest card in our game and defeats any card. The winner of the round is called president, then there are the vicepresident, the peasants, the shit and finally the shit eater. It's interesting to know that this game is so international!
Omg..I had to pause half way watching the video just to let you know i haven't had this much fun watching one in ages. I can almost feel like i was in that same room enjoying the game. Thank you guys.
We have something similar in Thailand too! The winner is called 'king' and the loser is called 'slave'. There isn't as many little special rules like this but the concept is pretty much the same. It's so amazing to see variations of the game is being played around the world :3 Now I know that card game is what every country enjoy!
wow! my four favorite people together finally at last. I can't believe you guys haven't done videos together before. I always look forward to either one of you making a video for you tube, please make more.
I was SOO EXCITED to meet them!! And omg they are so nice and welcoming. Victor is hilarious! We've actually been talking for over a year! :D But since I'm in America like 48 weeks of the year we haven't really been able to meet!! ^^;; Once I can quit my job and move to Japan for good we'll be doing collabs with tons of people!! :D -Rachel
Rachel & Jun I would be excited too to meet either VIctor, Tomoko or Jun or you Rachel, I found your channel because of him and so glad that I did, I learn alot and so look forward to visit Japan soon. I hope your able to make video with them soon. Thanks for your response.
Thank you for showing us this new game! My entire family plays a card game called Rook (aunts, uncles, cousins...everyone!). We are all highly competitive... I can't wait to teach them this!
hahaha we thought about playing it as a drinking game! But actually out of all four of us Victor is the only one who really drinks! XD I was up for it but Jun and Tomoko seem like they get sick/drunk really quickly so the idea was kind of abandoned!
I've been watching Gimmeaflakeman and Tomoko for almost as long as I've been watching you, but I've never subscribed. I guess I've never wanted to admit to being a moron. It was really neat the way you and Victor spoke English and Jun and Tomoko spoke Japanese with everyone understanding each other perfectly. Farscapes Translator Microbes must work really great. LOL
Ah, this game. There are multiple variations of it, there are multiple chinese versions, in singapore its called taiti, in china its called 大老二. they are apparently versions of each other.
OMG! I remember thinking while watching your Oasis 21 video how strange it was to see a person walking around Japan in a reindeer costume. I didn't think people in Japan were that crazy about Christmas. Little did I know that it was Victor haha xD
The version my family plays is called "The Great Dalmuti" and comes with a special deck illustrated with pictures of each class/rank and numbered 1 -> 12. 1 is the highest rank and 12 being the lowest rank. There are twelve 12 cards, eleven 11 cards, ten 10 cards, ect. It's played pretty much the same, but it's easier to remember the card ranks and there's only one suit. Also, I'm not sure if it was just my family, but there weren't many special rules like "Hachigiri". Only that if the Daihinmin got both joker cards at the begging of a hand, they declared revolution and switched places with the Daifugo. I'd love to hang out with you guys someday and play either version!
Its exactly like president! Its a card game that uses basically the same rules minus all of the special ones, unless you choose to add those kinds of rules yourself!
Once again love love love the length of this video :) Daifugo seems very complicated at first but I guess it just takes time to get use to it,will give this game a go one day! :) Love the part when Rachel went "Now he's thinking about whether he wants to piss off his wife" and Jun just kinda laughed a lil then there goes Victor talking about grudges HAHAHAHAHA
Yeah, this is one of those things where the explanation is more complicated than the game!! A lot of people I play with only need a few games to really get the hang of a good strategy. ^^
Rachel & Jun Now that I think about it again it is true, the whole time when you were explaining I was like "uhhhhh" trying to process it in my brain. I'm pretty slow with games so who knows OTL But I'm sure once I get the hang of it,I'd probably invite people to play all day :) And thank you for the reply Rachel, appreciate it tons!
That was called Daihinmin(大貧民)in our friends! I lived in Saitama, but am not sure how common this name was now. We used number of zabuton to reflect players' status. Daifugo gets 3 zabutons, Fugo gets 2 zabutons, Heimins get 1 zabuton while Hinmin and Daihinmin get no zabuton. Daihinmin must remain in seize position and use keigo to others. Canversation between Daifugo and Daihinmin is like ”頭が高ーい” ”ハハーッ”. Try it. It's fun.
That looks like fun! I love card games, I play them a lot with my family. Domino games are pretty fun too. Teaching language students card games in the language you're trying to teach them is really helpful, my French teacher had a small class one day and had us play go fish in French. Allez possez!
When I saw this I was reminded of a game my brother and sister tried to teach me a couple of years ago. I'm really dense at learning new things and I was surprised to see it was similar. In my country, the game's called Asshole and I didn't really realise it until I read your comment on the western versions of the game. I always wondered how to play Daifugo after reading about it in Fruits Basket, in one of the mangas they have an explanation of the game though.
Oh man, this brings me back to going to school in Japan! Me and my school mates would play this during our lunch break and after school and we would remember our rankings as Dai Hime or Dai Fugo to continue our struggle for dominance. Lots of good rules, like Shibari, and Lakkii Sebun (lucky 7), Jack backs, and others. This brings so many memories!
They used the term kaidan, which is stairs, but we used the phrase Shibari to "tie up" the next players to stick to a suit or to ascending or descending numbers. play a 4 of clubs and play a 5 you can call shibari. But if you don't call out shibari you don't have to adhere to the rule. strategy.
Natsukashii, I haven't played this game in 5 years since I moved back to the US, and It is rather difficult to try and explain to americans, but this video will give me a huge boost. You guys explained it so well!
Great Video....Looks like a fun game....I asked my wife if she has ever played and she said she does not remember how...but did like playing as a child...
fun video with some awesome youtubers!! This game reminds me of a game I used to play in highschool called "13", the rules are a bit different but the objective is the same to get rid of all your cards. also wanted to let it be known that Jun is one cool dude! so laid back haha.
wow, here in Spain we have nearly the same game(and also everyone plays it here), it's called "Culo", the winner it's called President, and the looser Ass. Can't belive that we have the same gane even when our culture has nothing to do with yours :D Pd: sry for any mistakes , english is not my mother language Pd: love your videos, keep making such a great job
That game here in Chile,it's called "ocho loco" or "Crazy Eight" of course it varies a bit but its almost the same, its a good video...just one thing, should add Tomoko to the tittle too ^_^ she is also a youtube celebrity :P for many of the viewers too :)
I've played this game before in Poland, and it seems many people in many different countries played as well. I wonder where it actually originated from.
Japan! :D Daifugo is the original. "President (also known as Scum, Asshole, Arsehole (in British English), Kings, Scumbag (in Australia[2]), Janitor, "Man of the House", Landlord, Rich Man Poor Man and many other names), an Americanized version of Dai Hin Min"
Rachel & Jun In SW Ontario, I grew up knowing this game as both A**hole and Corporation. It's great to see you some of my favorite youtubers playing a game I know with just a slight rules variation :D. Awesome to see you both sit down with Victor and Tomoko ^.^. Great video and thanks for sharing!!
Rachel & Jun Actually I was kind of surprised to see this game played by you! :D We also play it in Austria and we even call it similar. "Bettler" means beggar, or it's called "Arschloch" which translates to arsehole! :) I love to play it! It's great fun! I wonder if it really originated in Japan (I think it could possibly have been from somewhere else too), but anyway it's amazing how a game can travel across borders and continents. :)
We also play a game similar to this with the grandma's and grandad's when we visit them but we call it presidents and arseholes. The first out is president (P), second Vice president (VP), third Vice Arsehole (VA) and last Arsehole (A). The last person as to also has to deal the next round. It's really fun, even though they are like 30 years older then me they like to be cheeky and be really playful :D
This is my favorite japanese card game too!! My japanese ex boyfriend taught me how to play it, and since then I've taught it to people from all over the world! Yeahhh! Let's spread the awesomeness!!
We call it daidi where I come from and we play only in 1, pairs or 5s. It gets fun while playing fives. The ranking goes like this: Stairs, Suites, triple double, 4s 1, full house. Though I could be wrong, it's been a long time since I played. I miss playing it! It's always a hard decision between blackjack and daidi.
I've played this game before! Althought the spanish version is a lot simpler than this one, and you can actually play the same number, for example, and that makes the next person skip the turn. But daifugo seems much more fun. I'm going to convince my friends to try and play this version!
Woa, this is really cool, I hope I can play this some day. I thought this video would be too long but I actually watched it all without skipping. Thank you so much for a very informative and fun video.
Rachel & Jun ─=≡Σ((( つ╹ω╹)つ♡ ermagerddddd you replied to my comment. And don't worry, this video isn't too long, I even replayed one more time to learn the rules again. I wish I had cards to play along but I couldn't find mine anywhere TToTT P/s: I just found out about your channel for a week and watched almost all of your videos. I adore you guys so much. Hope we can meet someday, even though I'm from Vietnam and I've never been to Japan, but hopefully
I think the kids in my high school played a similar version called "BS," or "bullsh*t." It's called that because you place all the cards upside down and often lie about what cards you're really placing in the deck, like if the next card has to be a 7 but your next highest card is an 8, you place the 8 on the deck face down and say it's a 7. If the person who goes after you thinks you're lying, they say "BS" and the last card(s) played are flipped over. If they're right, the person who put that card down gets the entire pile. If it was the correct card(s), the person who called them out gets the whole pile. There were some other differences, too, but I haven't played it in at least two years.
Since a lot of people here have played their own countries' versions, according to Wikipedia the games played in Western countries originated from the Japanese version, while other similar East Asian games don't necessarily have a single source written down (that I could find)! :D
"President (also known as Scum, Asshole, Arsehole (in British English), Kings, Scumbag (in Australia[2]), Janitor, "Man of the House", Landlord, Rich Man Poor Man and many other names), an Americanized version of Dai Hin Min..."

bevrosity phase 10.... uno mixed with gin and rummy way more addicting then uno
Here in Brazil we have a game that is almost the same , we called "CÚ" which means "ASS" in english , ahhaha btw funny video :D
Rachel & Jun In France as a student, i'm used to play it called : "President" or "Asshole" and it's very funny, in small parties, we're playing it as a drinking game, and in the end, it become difficult to think about each other minds X') !
In our version, the rule I love the most, is when somebody put any card (aside the 2) you can put the same card on it, but it affects the player after you, he has to put the same card or he has to pass, or put a joker for exemple :
Player 1 : 3 of spades
player 2 : 7 of diamonds
Player 3 : 7 of clubs
Player 4 : 7 of whatever or pass or Joker (but it will be the 7)
This rule is perfect to keep away the futur President, or anyone else from the win :D !

That's almost the same as here in Québec (French Canada) :D we call it "Trou d'cul" which means "asshole"
I like this way of conversation. You speak in whatever language you're comfortable with at the moment, yet everyone understands you.
I used to play this at lunch time in Canada, around grade 5!
We called it "President".
This is really cool to see these kinds of things being shared around the world!
i did the same xD
I still play it and I'm in grade 11
Woah! It's up!!!
Ha see you did know them!!!! I was right!, Glad i'm part of the moron army ;)
It was unexpected yo see your 2 channels collaborate. This was an awesome video! The game seems very interesting for sure.
very awesome to see Victor here, yay!
I CAN SEE JUN'S CARDS!
P.S. two of my favorite groups of J-Vloggers!
This was so interesting! :D I wish I could've played with you guys! XD Rachel, I know this may sound weird to you but I think Jun has a nice voice xD
Wow! Rachel, Jun, Víctor and Tomoko, together? I'm so happy!! My favorite Vloggers!

This game ruins friendships as badly as Monopoly!! lol
Merry Christmas! ^_^
Victor and Tomoko plus Rachel & Jun in one video? Today is a good day.
Omg..I had to pause half way watching the video just to let you know i haven't had this much fun watching one in ages. I can almost feel like i was in that same room enjoying the game. Thank you guys.

My four favourite hosts on one video - AMAZING GUYS!
Interesting concept. Winning isn't the primary goal (and thus the prime motivator directing one's strategy); NOT LOSING is.
I wanna play this game now... IF I HAD FRIENDS! www
The ending was cute x3
It is just like the game Arschloch in Germany O.o very cool
I have no idea why you don't have more subscribers, you two are awesome.
The two camera angles was really interesting :D
Oh god, it's all my favorite youtubers playing my favorite card game!
For a moment I thought you were going to play Cards Against Humanity (just a wild guess based on the thumbnail). Imagine how that would turn out...
My brain just exploded.. my two favorite RUclipsrs in Japan united in a video.
This is great! I've always been a fan of Victor. It's good to see your guys together.
Well that was fun! I hope you play more Japanese and/or American card/board games in the future.
Thank you for showing us this new game! My entire family plays a card game called Rook (aunts, uncles, cousins...everyone!). We are all highly competitive... I can't wait to teach them this!
Funny how all the Japanese RUclipsrs I subscribe to keep appearing on each other's channels.
I suppose it's like how American RUclipsrs always end up on each others channels, it's more fun in groups :D.
I love this game.
The main problem with this game is that it gets awful drunk out, regardless of the weather.
hahaha we thought about playing it as a drinking game! But actually out of all four of us Victor is the only one who really drinks! XD I was up for it but Jun and Tomoko seem like they get sick/drunk really quickly so the idea was kind of abandoned!
This is an Alien Vs. Predator level cross-over. I'd love to see more videos like this!
Man, Tomoko is awesome at this game lol
yay i'm so happy victor, tomoko, rachel, & jun :) my day has just been made :) Thank you
I've been watching Gimmeaflakeman and Tomoko for almost as long as I've been watching you, but I've never subscribed. I guess I've never wanted to admit to being a moron.
It was really neat the way you and Victor spoke English and Jun and Tomoko spoke Japanese with everyone understanding each other perfectly. Farscapes Translator Microbes must work really great. LOL
We have this in Norway too! Only here it is called "president og boms" wich means "president and hobo". It is a great card game.
大富豪懐かしいですね。トランプは修学旅行などの必需品なのでよくやってました。
Ah, this game. There are multiple variations of it, there are multiple chinese versions, in singapore its called taiti, in china its called 大老二. they are apparently versions of each other.

Wow, I just got a ton of old Rachel & Jun videos in my recommendations. Well here goes nothing :D
My two favorite J-vloggers. Christmas came early :D
Great video! So much fun watching you guys play and learning the rules!
Its exactly like president! Its a card game that uses basically the same rules minus all of the special ones, unless you choose to add those kinds of rules yourself!
見てて、楽しかった
:O Wow, this is almost EXACTLY like the game we play in Canada called "President" Except Daifugo has a lot more special rules.
Oh my god! Two of my favorite J-vloggers in one video! :DDDDDD

This was so entertaining and very interesting, thanks for the new video! And it made it a lot easier with the cards on the side of the video
Jun san has very beautiful hands *_* he can be a wristwatch model or something XD
right? glad i wasn't the only one who noticed hahah
Wow...all four of my favorite J-Vloggers in one room!
Right? xD
That looks like fun! I love card games, I play them a lot with my family. Domino games are pretty fun too. makotoni11
Kaidan is for when you lay down three or more cards in a "straight" at one time. We use shibari for locking in suits, too!
Natsukashii, I haven't played this game in 5 years since I moved back to the US, and It is rather difficult to try and explain to americans, but this video will give me a huge boost. You guys explained it so well!
Tomoko desu i luv ya
Did Rachel say that Jun taught her? If so, he created a daifugo monster! That looked like fun.
I felt nostalgic Daifugo.
I am looking at your video always happily.
Thank you :D
26:01 R&J eyes contact at the same time XD
Great Video....Looks like a fun game....I asked my wife if she has ever played and she said she does not remember how...but did like playing as a child...
fun video with some awesome youtubers!! This game reminds me of a game I used to play in highschool called "13", the rules are a bit different but the objective is the same to get rid of all your cards. also wanted to let it be known that Jun is one cool dude! so laid back haha.
Yes tien lens. !
Two amazing channels in one! How epic! :D
In Indonesia we play the similar game called capsa (means 13 in hokkien language), usually played by Chinese Indonesian.
wow, here in Spain we have nearly the same game(and also everyone plays it here), it's called "Culo", the winner it's called President, and the looser Ass. Can't belive that we have the same gane even when our culture has nothing to do with yours :D
Pd: sry for any mistakes , english is not my mother language
Pd: love your videos, keep making such a great job
Daifugo (大富豪) also means "multi-millionaire" or a rich person generally.
This game is like BIG 2
That game here in Chile,it's called "ocho loco" or "Crazy Eight" of course it varies a bit but its almost the same, its a good video...just one thing, should add Tomoko to the tittle too ^_^ she is also a youtube celebrity :P for many of the viewers too :)
Now all we need is the QuickRhino blurts and this'll be the best game on the planet.
Rich man poor man!! I use to love this game!!
Card games=what we REALLY learned in school :)

In SW Ontario, I grew up knowing this game as both A**hole and Corporation. It's great to see you some of my favorite youtubers playing a game I know with just a slight rules variation :D. Awesome to see you both sit down with Victor and Tomoko ^.^. Great video and thanks for sharing!!

Actually I was kind of surprised to see this game played by you!
Awesome I play this game when I was at Mexico. How interesting it has so many different names.
awesome both of my favorite channels coming together :D
It's always a hard decision between blackjack and daidi.
ah, the Japanese variant of big 2 (cho dai di)! super fun game. :D
can't wait for the day you guys collaborate with quickrhino
I'm from Portugal and we play a version of this :3 So cool to learn that it's Japanese in origin.
presidente e o olho não é?

MsRandomBadger TIL Portuguese and Spanish share the word for "precisely"
You guys going to make a holiday video?
This sort of reminds me of a game called "Presidents" that I played at summer camp. It was different, but kinda similar too.
Aahh, I first heard of this game from Fruits Basket years ago, good to finally see the rules for it. I will study this video.
I played this game called "Rich Man Poor Man" in elementary school! I little more simplified, though

YAAAAAAAAY you don't know how much this comment means to me! :D I'm so happy you were able to watch the whole thing!! *~(^ ▽ ^)~*

Rachel & Jun ─=≡Σ((( つ╹ω╹)つ♡ ermagerddddd you replied to my comment. And don't worry, this video isn't too long, I even replayed one more time to learn the rules again. I wish I had cards to play along but I couldn't find mine anywhere TToTT
P/s: I just found out about your channel for a week and watched almost all of your videos. I adore you guys so much. Hope we can meet someday, even though I'm from Vietnam and I've never been to Japan, but hopefully
This looks fun.
There were some other differences, too, but I haven't played it in at least two years.
we actually played this same game at school on the last day before holidays. the rules where the same except the cards that did stuff was different
I haven't seen this video and I already liked it!
見てて学生の頃を思い出し懐かしかったです。
麻雀と一緒で、地方・ローカルルール多いですよね。
公式ルールとかあるのかな?
授業中に隣の子と7・8枚で大富豪をやっていたのが思い出です。
We've got a very similar card game in France called "Président", it's really fun
In dutch this game is called: "Pesten"
When i was younger i used to play this game a LOT! xD
