The Kobyz, or Kylkobyz, is an ancient Turkic bowed string instrument popular among Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. Its Kyrgyz variant is known as the Kyl-Kyyak. The Qobyz features two strings made of horsehair and a resonating cavity typically covered with goat leather.

Dimash Qudaibergen (di-MOSH Koo-dye-BEHR-gen) is a talented artist from Kazakhstan who began his formal training at the age of 5. He is professionally trained in opera, contemporary music, and musical theater. His diverse discography includes genres such as pop, R&B, EDM, rock, folk/traditional, neo-classical, opera, and even rap and hip-hop with a vocal range of 7+ octaves: C1-D8(which doesn't exist on a standard 88-key piano).
Qudaibergen has performed songs in 15 languages and is fluent in Russian and Kazakh while also possessing some proficiency in English and Chinese. A multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter, producer, director, and actor, he owns a production company called Dimashali Creative Center. He is 30 years old, 6'3", and a consummate performer. Is also a great humanitarian and philanthropist. He has a great love and respect for his millions of fans whom he has named DEARS.

The instrument you’re talking about is a Kazakh instrument called the Kobitz (he is from Kazakhstan)but has concerts all over the world. It is two strings. John Reaves won tickets to the Istanbul concert which was Dimash’s 30th birthday. Dimash sings all genres of music, in more than 13 languages. He has a 7 octave range but doesn’t like people to focus on his range.
How are we supposed to listen to a song like this and not focus on his range 😳

So glad you found Dimash let the adventure begin. Just a heads up some places, especially Russia, they don’t stand. They find it disrespectful to block people behind you. They give flowers instead, which you will see, he gets a ton which he donates to hospitals etc. he sings in many genres even raps. People come from almost every country to see his concerts. He’s also the most humble kind man and loves his fans called the dears. There are so many songs to recommend

Dimash is known by many names. Alien, angel, vocal king/master, the GOAT, best of the best. I just call him the Vocalbender Extraordinaire. Great reaction guys. Very imaginative and funny. The way I found to celebrate the majesty of Dimash's talent was to have written the following about him: If I were to rule the world, I would immediately add, to the universal declaration of human rights, another article (they would become 31) whose wording would next "All human beings have the right, at least once in their lives, to hear Dimash sing". I am a Professor and I believe that I have a special profession that allows me to transform the human heart and consequently the human society. I work with young people and young people need to have good references. I had been looking for someone for a long time, of whom I could speak to the young people I work with, as a good reference. That person should be young, a super talent, a super mega star in the art world and above all, because he is the most important, a good human person. I searched and never found anyone with these characteristics. Until, finally, I found this person and that person is Dimash. I had the opportunity to say this to Dimash, personally, when I was with him in Latvia where I went, coming from Portugal (there are 8000 km round trip), on the 7th of March 2020. Congratulations, you just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He is a thirty year old multi-faceted artist with a soul of a thousand years, who hails from Kazakhstan. He sings in 16 different languages (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin), plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in musicology (has a Masters in composition). He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 7 octave range, has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble and kind man. His mother is a classically trained singer and his father is a singer and producer. He sings almost every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend starting with "SOS", 2021, "Sinful Passion" 2018, "Olimpico" 2019 link on Igor Krutoy's (composer that came out of retirement to work with Dimash) RUclips channel, "Adagio" from The Singer 2017, "Ikanaide" 2021 Tokyo Jazz Festival, and "Ave Maria" 2021 at New Wave. After digesting those performances, I can't stress enough my recommendation for one of his most recent songs and music video (mini movie) the artistic masterpiece "The Story of One Sky" that he wrote the screenplay for and spent 3 years composing the music for, which displays a lot of his range (not all) and soooo many vocal techniques and dynamics, including sub harmonics, whistle register, bass, tenor, baritone, classical, jazz, pop, rock and unreal metal screams....and unbelievable dramatic acting. Each performance will leave you stunned. Thank you for reacting to our Dimash from a loyal "Dear" (fandom name given to us by Dimash, because we are dear to him like his family). Istanbul was John's second Dimash concert as he'd already seen him in Hong Kong and given Dimash a rose.
It was the concert where Dimash premiered his amazing Blues/rock song When I've Got You which has a beautiful MV to accompany it.
The instrument is called a Kobyz, and it is a traditional instrument of Kazakhstan which is Dimash's homeland. It has 2 strings made of horse hair and the body is covered with goat hide. Your boy John Reeves was so excited with anticipation of seeing Dimash live, and completely stoked after he came back. It's funny you guys thought of the desert because There is a music video of this song and it shows a guy trekking through a snowstorm being followed by a pack of wolves. Watch it because it goes so well with this song. Dimash began his music studies at the age of five and now has his Master's degree and a Ph.D. Dimash still does vocal training for 2-5 hours every day, and he sings in 14 languages. He had a concert here in the States at The Barclay Center in New York in 2019 just before Covid shut everything down. He calls his fans "Dears", and there were Dears from 47 States and 54 countries. He is a humble, kind, compassionate, selfless, and charitable young man who has a deep love for his country, family, and his music.

Hey dudes, I could totally picture the boat out on dark water, when you finally come to land of endless sand. It was wonderful journey on camels 🐪 🐪🐪🐪following stars and planets that led us to the beautiful tents huge , with colorful tapestry’s covering the sand. The fires are high warming the cold midnight air. People are lounging at the tables, meat is being passed, dates filled with nuts and dripping with honey are set at the side. Best of all, the wine is flowing, not last months bitter wine, this is the sweetest made of pomegranate and honey. Finally, why we traveled so very far… the music starts. There are many mystical instruments (some we know) others never heard, but , in time, the heavenly carry us away . Then… the voice, 5 in one. It’s calling me to unseen places, with sandy dunes, and sparkling oasis. I will feast, drink , and be carried into the night sky , flown through the Milky Way, and be put to sleep by the heavenly being called Demash .

Dimash Kudaibergen a.k.a “DiMash” was born on 24th May 1994 in Aktobe which is located in the west part of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Dimash's first appearance on stage as a performer was at the age of two in a minor role in a local theater production.
He began acting at a young age. At home, he became interested in musical instruments; and his parents and his music teacher noticed that he had absolute pitch.
Dimash is well-recognized for his wide vocal range, spanning seven octaves and seven semitones, from Si0 to Re8 . According to various sources, he has been heard live (Stranger) hitting a C2 and D8 (Unforgettable Day). His whistle register can hit notes in the eight octaves. Dimash sings in multiple musical genres.
At the age of five, he began taking piano and singing lessons at the children's studio of the Zhubanov Music College, where he would later attend university accompanied by his grandmother Miua. He has expressed gratitude to his early teachers and to his grandmother, who took him to his lessons every day despite the pain in his legs. Dimash first sang on stage the same year, at the age of five. He later attended Gymnasium No. 32 in Aktobe. Dimash completed a Broadway Musical master class in 2009.
He speaks Kazakh, Russian and English, and is studying Mandarin. He has performed songs in 16 languages: Kazakh, Russian, English, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Serbian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Japanese, Armenian, Arabic and Cantonese.
Now emerging in the West, Kazakh singer-songwriter Dimash Qudaibergen is a superstar in the East: a genre-defying musical artist and an electrifying stage performer known for his intense emotional impact on his audience. Here is where I wanted to bring you … the rabbit hole I fell in earlier this year, Now I believe I am kind of a ¨DQ Dear¨ … DQ calls all his fans ¨My Dear or My Dears¨ …

I wanted to share … Dimash Qudaibergen was born in Kazakhstan on may 24th 1994. His father is a Kazakh culture official (and artist as well) and his mother (is or was) an opera singer at the Astana opera … They have 2 younger children who are also musically gifted. Dimash started to attend singing and music schooling at the age of 5yo.. He has a classical formation and was offered a residence at the opera … He refused the honorific job because he wanted to explore different genres and avenues. He started to attend singing competition locally … and you will see why he eventually got to be renown all over Asia (that is your backyard if I am not mistaken) … Especially after his first performance of many on the Chinese - Hunan TV singing competition ¨The Singer 2017¨ … I am communicating to you the link to the specific performances of Dimash on that 2017 show. Since I discovered that you are inclined to appreciate music … I am quite sure that if you do not know of this guy … your jaw will drop … On first round of the competition … Dimash gets to sing a composition created through a collaboration by French Michel Berger and Canadian Luc Plamondon … ¨S.O.S. d`un terrien en détresse¨ (you could translate to ¨S.O.S. of an earthling in distress¨) … part of a 1978 Rock Opera production named ¨Starmania¨ … There were several singers of the song through the decades … The first one was Daniel Balavoine followed by Bruno Pelletier in the 1990s and in 2005 Grégory Lemarchal got to take it for another ride which was found on You Tube platform by Dimash in the early 2010. Dimash did not speak French … but he did undertake the composition in it`s original version. And performed it at different singing competition through asia. This is the explanation of the crowd reaction to Dimash presentation on the 1st round of the live performance … I red that the following morning of the first round of the Chinese ¨The Singer 2017¨… Dimash`s fandom grew by the tens of millions.
