Mashtooth was certainly more challenging than most of the bosses in this game (I personally find Snips harder, though), but nothing ridiculous (His first form was easy, but his second form could be a little bit annoying at times). Though I do agree that the Final Boss theme was good.
These games have some pretty unique main antagonists... A magical shapeshifting eel, the embodiment of pure evil, a strangely attractive anime villainess eel, and an alien dragon. ^^ Strange and unique.
That's exactly why I almost ALWAYS use my index finger for severe cases of button mashing like this. Unless it's Sonic Rush (two buttons to mash at once... thanks for that).

This game is the reason why my friends allways call me when there's a button mashing section in games. This game has trained me to be the button mashing expert I am today. I can proudly say that I can now do the final mashing section in Starfy... With my thumb. Thats right! No stroking my index finger across the buttons and creating enough friction to start a fire, I can do it with my thumb. I am a hardened man because of this game. The faded letter of my Y button will forever remind me of that. ~ That guy that leaves meaningless and long comments. And is the button mashing master.
Man, the memories. I remember first listening to this game's boss theme and I had to pause. After playing the entirety of the GBA series, I really expected the classic theme to play. But man was I blown away. It's just so bumpy and cheerful. Really gets you moving!
Man, I'll never forget how mind blown I was when Starfy, a 2D Sprite would fight against 3D model characters, especially with the final boss fight against Mashtooth. We need more games like that.

Well, this game does seem a bit far removed from the rest of the series. I mean, they didn’t have Konk as the first boss, and they actually made an original boss theme for this game, breaking two trends with the bosses alone.
Empoleon77 I would say both DS games are removed from the original trilogy in their own way and in a similar way. There is also a lot of things this game has similarly to the gba games that 4 does not. 5 here has mini games, more traditional levels, has no spill abilities and uses hearts instead of a health meter. Though 4 and 5, unlike the gba games both have different health systems and health upgrades. They also have a plot that doesn’t revolve around the safety of pufftop

I remember... I was able to always get to the final button mashing section as a kid, and just could never beat it. And I never did, even to this day. Yet now, I can button mash faster than anyone I swear. I should make a return to this game... perhaps on emulator.
I was a huge Starfy fan as a kid. I love the cute style of it! I wanna get this game again and play through it sometime. Update: I FOUND MY OLD COPY :D and I finally beat that stupid final boss fight that I could never defeat as a kid. I have yet to beat Old Man Lober however...
I discovered this game with a messup at a shop where my mom ordered Kirby squeak squad for my birthday. and I accidentally got sent this instead. But when I finally got squeak squad, Legendary Starfy was actually better.

@@frisbeans9144 There was the Duck Hunt dog in Sm4sh. Not enough moves isn't really an excuse when there can be new ones given. There's also the Shooting Star move and the Powerful Spin from previous games.
