Their story was always realistic. It took them 5 seasons to go through all the phases. It started with a formal and rigid work relationship, moved slowly to banter, then opening up, then a solid and reliable friendship that changed into slow burn and finally love. Nothing was rushed with them, so the breakup issue won't be rushed either. They both need time, especially her. And he has to heal his wounds first to be able to heal hers. And even if I don't like it, I see it as an obstacle that will make their bond stronger. You have to love yourself first before you love someone else. Tim needs to be his best version for her. Should she make it difficult for him? Oh, yes. She put herself out there and he blew it. Now I want to see him fight for her like never before. This is not the end, it's just the beginning. Tim will find himself and then will fight to gain her back. There were so many hints throughout the show about them being endgame. And this "the rest of my life" is just another one. We just need to be patient, as always.
Spot on. Beautifully sad. They are absolute endgame. The way they've been so carefully and organically developed, and marvelously portrayed through every ep/season is the only proof you need that they are IT. They touch you on such a deep level, and Mel & Eric deserve all the praise in the world for the art that is Chenford. I love many ships, but the deep deep connection between these two is MAGIC. They own me. My absolute favorites forever & ever. 💖
They rushed them in season 5 though that's why they did this breakup so they could go back to the will they/will they won't relationship. Alexi said it's that part of the relationship that the audience wanted. Everything was for the drama which to me ruined the seasons of build up. It's just complete emotional manipulation on the viewers. I was really turned off by everything when I read that.
Well said! Yes, I love that the writers took their time in bringing them together. I certainly don't like the wait, but it is realistic and it makes it worth it. As you mentioned, there were several foreshadows in the season, especially in season 4, about them being "end game." We will just have to wait and see. I can't wait for Tim to find himself and fight to get her back. I hope there is a scene where she gets hurt or is in a life-or-death situation where he fights for her.
Yes, I also think the same way, especially about Tim finding and loving himself first, but I also think that Lucy should have frankly conversation with Tim, because she is the one to decide if Tim deserve her or not and he should know if she accept him like that. Tim thank her for her kindness, but they both know that she help him because she love him, the fact, that she is hurt, doesn't change that.
I also think maybe it could be good if Lucy tell Tim nobody's perfect, beacuse she also lied about Nolan, not having relationship with him, and then Nolan lied about Lucy during his on-duty homocide case, which Lucy knew (s1ep9) She can tell Tim that if he accepts her knowing this, she accepts him the same way.
@@user-ji1li4tg8eI don't think her having a conversation with him would change anything. Tim just needed space and had his guard up. He is pretty avoidant, meaning he tends to shut down when his insecurities and traumas are triggered. The best thing Lucy can do is just keep going and living her life. If it's meant to be, he will come around and it will be her choice to decide what to do.
"...the rest of my life...". Tim is in for the long run. He would never ask her to wait for him, but he's letting her know that he wants her in his life forever
Now, it's Lucy's turn. He told her he wants her back. For me, Lucy is brave enough to take the second chance. Tim is her man. ❤
@@christianegroe3018 I don't think it's Lucy's turn now, he hurt her a lot, one, albeit beautiful, speech is not enough, he should win her trust back. I just hope it happens in season seven 🥺

Hot take - he really messed up and even these little speeches are all about him. Time to move on for Lucy. He showed her such little kindness in all of this. She can do better than a bit part player in the Tim show. The man has ultimate main character syndrome!

I love how after he says “thank you”, she looks at him and pauses with forgiving eyes, (excellent acting by Melissa!) and quietly, gently says “your welcome” 🥹🥲
Yes! Melissa deserves more recognition for this scene! Her eyes say SO much. Brilliantly done.
after waiting for so long for their relationship their break up was the most heart breaking scene for me and they didn't even patch up in this season . i hope they get back together in the next season😥😥🥺🥺
I love how Eric delivered the word “kindness”, I don’t know how to explain this but that word touched me 😢 btw I want them together again so bad
I actually hated the word kindness- I wish so much that they’d written those lines differently. I wish I could explain why the word choices left me feeling so disappointed and underwhelmed. I had so much more hope in 6x8 and 6x9 to be honest
I don't think Tim has seen a lot of kindness in his life. He's been very alone, with people he's loved proving seemingly ready to turn on him, leave him or both. EW is so ridiculously talented, he can convey all that with a slight pause that emphasizes how much value this broken person puts on that kind of loyalty, and somehow calls back all the other times an equally subtle gesture has let Lucy and us into his character's trust.
Lucky EW seems a complete sweet❤, or you'd have to hate him on principle - bring both ridiculously talented and ridiculously attractive is just plain greedy...
I hope lucy gets a few wins next season. I feel like season 6 was so cruel to her with not making detective, tamara moving out and the breakup with tim. I see her as an amazing TO from when her and Celina partnered up. Who knows, if she makes TO then her and tim's "relationship" would be more appropriate as he was demoted back down. Overall i loved this season, such a shame it ended with 10 episodes but looking forward to a full 20 episode season with 7. Fantastic acting to all the cast
I want Tim and Lucy back the way they were before, so I can jave my chenford wedding and babies.
I swear if the series doesn't end with them married, then this show will have been a colossal failure
You know, not everyone should get married and have kids. It's too many couples and kids in this show already which takes attention from the other storylines.

I loved this as an end for their story in season 06_ them getting together so soon wouldn't make sense Tim needs time to heal and to love himself again .Chenford aren't broken for good they are just bent and they will find their way to eachother again , i can't wait for the next season

@@JRKR I didn't mean that he didn't care about the relationship, just that he was acknowledging how he hurt Lucy, which is a way of showing that he cares. Sorry if I didn't word that very well.
My heart breaks for them both but a little bit more for Lucy. She didn't ask for it and he still owe her that conversation. She's worried about ruining their relationship if things didn't work out and he went and did exactly that. How he's going to earn her trust back? That's going to be hard. Tim has his work cuts out for him but lucky for him the love is still there...
I feel worse for him because he's in such a dark place mentally overall. Lucy is healthier.
What conversation? What is there to say right now? This isn't a problem of a conversation, it's a problem of mental health and someone needing to do other work before they can handle a relationship.
Their break up is very mature and beautifully done no matter how much it hurts me. Tim literally pushed her away to protect her because he knew he couldn’t be the boyfriend she wants and needs. Lucy still loves and cares for him after he broke her heart. He realizes that and thanks her knowing he has to earn her trust back. He also assures her that he wants her in his life by saying «the rest of my life»❤️🩹I sincerely hope the writers continue to write beautiful scenes like this and give these characters a thorough and impactful story going forward.
Oh goodness, this was extremely intense! The way they ended it on a cliffhanger left me wanting for more come January. I love that Tim finally said how much she means to him, and that he knows he screwed up and will do everything he can to fix things between them so he can earn her love, trust and her personally back into his life, and that moment brought me to tears. I am glad that the Rookie Feds team got to have a small moment in the finale. I am very worried for Nolan and Bailey's safety since two of the most dangerous and insane criminals are on the loose and on the hunt for the 2 love birds. I hope that things will go well for them that they will be able to adopt the children that they so desire. This season was by far one of the best I've seen, it started off with a bang literally and it ended with a bang. Season 7 here we come!!!

I was so disappointed by his choice of words when I first watched this scene but I’ve grown to appreciate it more in the past few days. I do wish it was slightly better worded though- I wish he could have told her he knows he ruined everything but he’s so grateful to her for never giving up on him and always having his back. He could have said he’ll spend the rest of his life winning back her love and trust because he can’t imagine a life without her
They're not apart because Lucy won't forgive him they're apart because Tim is not ready to get back together yet. The reasons he left are still there. He still needs to figure some stuff out and heal a bit more from all his various traumas. It would be unkind and dishonest to start talking about getting back together right now when he still feels like he can't be in a relationship right now.

I know that everybody would like to have them back together. I admit I also feel almost the childish wish to have them together and married with not less than dozen of kids and happy ever after. And director and screen writer can do what ever they like so we will see. However after this very dramatic break up in real life I do not see that happen. Just too much. I had it. I have seen it. I have been there. They both were not very right treatening each other. Lucy once told Tim to leave if he is not gonna to tell her everything. She should give him a little bit of space and wait and he eventually would. Then he broke up because of more difficult problems and trauma with a father and lost a job and so on. Those things like "do not wanny talk? So leave, today we are alone" leave scars and it all get worse and worse. Generally to all please do not say something you would regret later because it all stays with us. Those little things acumulate till broken heart. Still of course I hope the director will make us all happy :) :) :)
Reading all the interviews, I have a feeling it won't be a fast reconciliation. Like this elevator scene is a hope for the future (not even a step towards it just a hope), Tim needs to be better first, Lucy's trust needed to be earned again for a while and the freaking showrunner saying how the viewers like their push and pull relationship. They'll be giving us another slow burn again. 😭
I actually kind of think it's better slow. It was a huge deal for Tim to break up with Lucy and I actually feel like in some ways it feels worse if he then immediately changes his mind and decides he's ready to be together after all. It would make it seem like he's just impulsive and doesn't know his own mind. Let him take his time and do more therapy and get into a state where he's ready to move forward properly.
He was already impulsive when he broke up with her though. Given he wasn't at the right headspace but it was still a very sudden decision. I completely blame the writers btw. They wanted drama for the sake of drama so they just pushed out that new storyline as the ultimate reason for the breakup while ignoring the existing issues.
And who wants another slow burn especially when they're at season 7. The show may get cancelled or the actors may move on to other things. Why bring them together when they cannot commit to it? Why can't they face their issues together? Why must Lucy be collateral damage to all of this?
Why tf did they think it was a good idea to break them up???
I hope Lucy finds a man who deserves her next season.

It makes me laugh that if in that speech you changed only the word “kindness” to “money” it would work the same way XD. The ideas and the script that carries those ideas in this season are unnecessary, but above all it is seen from afar that they put little effort into it.-
Can we talk about how amazing Lucy looked here? Her gorgeous face with minimal makeup. Her eyes and body language are just outstanding. A beautiful scene and haunting soundtrack.... And well done, Melissa & Eric! Whether they reunite mid-season or end of S7 - or possibly S8, I'll be happily waiting with bated breath! 🫶🏽.....Also, ABC really hits it out the park with the elevator scenes (ie: Greys Anatomy). I'm here for it. 😉
