      It also helps them be safer, since they are less likely to fight with other cats, or wander far away. It can help with their temperament and make them less likely to spray their territory as well.

    My cats are indoor-outdoor cats and every single cat hated going to the vet. But neutering and spaying was the best thing we ever did for them. Their quality of life is a lot better and they stick closer to the house and are more vocal and cuddly.

      We were adopted by a young 918months), intact tom. He established himself very quickly but we were cautious about neutering him in case he was claimed by his owner. he regularly absented himself for days/weeks and I have no doubt what he was up to. We then had him done - injury treatment was getting excessive. I hope, to the bottom of my heart, that his genes are running around in other cars to this day. He was the top cat of the neighbourhood and a thorough gentleman and friend at the same time, traits to be passed on.

    I basically do this as a hobby. Male cats and even some females become more friendly or minimum less fearful after spay or neuter. I’ve never had any complications or issues. They are back up and ready to go in 24 hours or less. We have an orange tabby that after neutering is the friendliest cat ever and almost never leaves the back porch!

He is in the shed tonight and I’m looking up stuff to calm me down because I feel so bad for him. I have another female cat that is an outside cat that was feral at one time and she also is without food tonight because they sleep in the shed at night so I’ve her to worry about also. We have 6 cats all fixed except Pete our new cat that declared us his parents. Wish us luck. To the guy who made this video. Thank you 😊

  • @miriamrobarts
    @miriamrobarts 12 часов назад

    2:47 Neuter is a neutral term that can be used for males or females. It means non-fertile. The reason 'neuter' is thought of as the term for males is because people prefer saying 'neuter' instead of 'castrate', which is the word for removing testicles. 'Spay' means to remove the ovaries.
    Thank you for teaching people to be responsible owners!

    Without going into details. Fertile cats will get real ornery when they mate. Bad enough when the toms get scrappy between each other but coitus in itself is a title match with felines. All this amounts to injury that usually kills a cat due to infection and abscesses. That is the prime way the population stays balanced. This way they have longer lives with better health. It also helps to get them flea collars and the standard set of shots for rabies and other things that they not only transmit between each other but from wildlife they come in contact with but some with us as well. Ya done good!😉👍

    In a previous video he said he feeds his cats twice a day, WHAT? No wonder some of his do not always make a kill. DO NOT feed your barn cats. Let the find their own food. You can give them a plate of milk in the evening. That is what my family did on their farm in Europe. My family never made pets of the barn cats. They should be semi feral if you want them to be good hunters.

    • @HiddenSpringFarm
      @HiddenSpringFarm  Месяц назад

      I’m sorry but if you don’t train your barn to know that this is their new home they may wander off. I’ve had this experience with Fozzy although I trapped him to get him back after 3 days. Majority of the time cats hunt for sport and feeding them has no bearing on whether they will hunt or not. I feed our cats once in the evening for dinner and it’s at the same time I call them back in to be protected. I guess we can agree to disagree cause my opinion is using your system if by chance your cats don’t catch anything that day they will not eat, that’s not how I want to do things. Our cats still catch rodents all the time even though I feed them. I don’t believe you are wrong but your method is not my preference. Thanks for the exact same comment on 10 of my barn cats videos, you must have copy and pasted all those comments eh, cheers.
