As other posters, this was a delightful way to start my morning! A live performance makes this all the more amazing - and the audience appreciation is apparent! Bravo!
He is from Bulgaria but we don't have popular composers, the most popular internationaly from here is Pancho Vladigerov. They are a few composers in 2 different generations but I haven't seen such pieces after the communist came.
He didn't, but he wrote harder pieces than this. As far as tonal music goes Liszt still has some of the hardest pieces. Go out of tonality and this Toccata is still nowhere near one of the hardest pieces.
Pure energy, wild and burning! Masterpiece!
40 seconds in and I'm wondering how the hell I haven't heard of this composer. This piece sounds riveting from the beginning to play.

Superb piece.
Great piece!! I didn't know this composer but I think he is a true Master.

Outrageous. Love it.
Man, 2:10 - 2:34 sounds so inspired by Pancho Vladigerov. That's the kind of sound I think of when I think of Bulgarian music.

exciting impressive piece
Doesn't it resemble Prokofiev's Toccata somewhat? Anyway, interesting piece.
3:38 somewhat remeniscent of Xenakis' Evryali
Sooper!
impressive, especially for a piece in 4/4

Bravo! Who is the pianist?
I would like to know who the performer is?
This appears to be the performance by Ivajlo Zlatev on 3 March 2000 In Rousse, Bulgaria... available here at ruclips.net/video/p3zxYlHBwmU/видео.html
Reminds me slightly of Rudepoema by Villa-Lobos.
@titusbeertsen To me this doesn't sound nearly precise enough to be MAH.
Very interesting and stimulating! Who's the performer? Sounds like Hamelin :)
I thought Prokofiev was atonal...
kickshaw surprise!
Ne nado bit sobitijem, nado pisat myziky!
"В Грецие все есть"!
是我的菜。
How do you listen to this without getting a headache?
Кой я изпълнява ??? Изключително !
And some people still promote the idea that listzt wrote the most difficult pieces for piano
Sounds jazzy at a rush
He didn't, but he wrote harder pieces than this.

Liszt wrote way harder stuff
Quite funny
Wow, so now we know Ligeti listened to Keith Emerson, and...Keith Emerson listened to Kazandjiev!
It's not Hamelin! And a truly dreadful piece!
