I used to have way too many statement pieces. I gravitated toward them to have something interesting, but they didn't feel very "repeatable." If I wore it, and got lots of comments on it, I didn't feel like I could whip it out again the next week. So I ended up with a closet full of things I was hesitant to rewear. Lesson learned.

My first priority is Shape, fabric, wearability and it gives me options to change it with accessories. I do not buy anything in the sale unless I know I would pay full price for it. It must be worth the money. It has taken me 3 years to buy a black dress for occasions. I disregarded any trend led items, it had to be classic. Something that was versatile that could be changed with accessories that I already own. I paid full price because I knew it was the one. It was worth the wait. I already have 3 events to wear it to. Always enjoy your vlogs Helen. Very well thought out. You continue to inspire me 😊 I agree with thinking everything through. Those questions would be good for putting in a notebook while shopping online or in store. Just a moments thought can be all you need to pause a purchase. Thanks 😊👍

Because I purchased items I needed throughout the year I do not feel pressured during the holidays. My next time to shop will be in January when everything will be on clearance. That's my time to replace worn out basics, see if anything on the wishlist is on sale and find a bargain.

Hello, I love your vidoes! I would love to see a video on undergarments! Recently, I went to try on the Uniqlo mini tee that you reccomeded in another video, and it was a bit see-through. I'm wondering how you style the tee in a practical way considering undergarments ❤

Helen, I am rewatching this again because it's so great and Black Friday is around the corner. How do you combat FOMO? Let's say you find an item, you're unsure, but you buy it because companies are doing this limited stock thing, or where you live has reduced availability, or whatever items all around you just end up on back-order, and creating fomo. How do you know something is the right thing to purchase? Do you have to have an idea in mind and then be on the lookout and then when you see the right thing buy it? I feel like through your video's, I've figured out how to look for what not to buy, but how on earth do you sift and sort to try and find things TO actually buy?? Your expertise and wisdom would be greatly appreciated

Helen, I've just recently discovered your channel and I'm loving it, not only because of your articulate manner and great observations, very (VERY) helpful tips which are on point, but mainly because of your style and vibe, which is very similar to mine. This is the most helpful and everything I've wished for - to find someone who looks a lot like me, has exactly the same height and similar figure, also leans toward the style that I like and has such great taste! Having said all this, I couldn't help myself and ask - have you ever considered yourself to be some kind of a classic Kibbe type? I ask because I consider myself a soft classic, and when I watched you in tailored A-line silhouettes, with waist emphasis and minimal and classic accessories, I was pretty sure that you are, in fact, a Kibbe classic, and I've finally found my "match"! A fellow classic with the same height, figure and taste. You look incredible in flowy skirts and V-necks, in minimal details and high quality fabrics. I love your taste. But in this video I heard you say that you consider yourself a soft gamine (which is definitely a part of your essence, I can see that). And it confused me. You look GREAT in classic styles, in classic patterns or no patterns at all. You don't really look petite, and yet you are. I also initially thought I'm too short to be a Classic. But I am, judging by what looks good on me (the same: flowy skirts, smooth lines, waist on point, tailored, quality fabrics, no ornaments, nothing chunky, minimal details). Confirming that I am a Kibbe classic helped me A LOT. I imagine this suggestion is unasked for, and it is still just my personal observation, so please feel free to ignore it. Thank you for your content! You have great style and taste and you are an inspiration!

Maybe it’s the other way around and she’s a soft gamine with classic essence?? In another video she talked about needing cropped pieces and short lines to balance her outfits, which imo makes more sense for a gamine. If so there’s still so much overlap for you!!!!! But as a soft classic you might not benefit so much from the cropped pieces. And you might prefer more moderate pieces like a midi skirt, which is something she’s said doesn’t work that well for her. Just my thoughts, I’m no expert haha! But those minor differences in silhouette might be the only thing to consider when you take inspiration from her style?
