3:55 please take me baaaaaaack My dad would always pick up our pizza and we had a Darkstalkers cab. I would always have to beg to get some quarters to play it. "YOU HAVE GAMES AT HOME. YOU ONLY PLAY FOR LIKE 3 MINUTES BEFORE ITS GAME OVER. THE PIZZA WILL BE OUT ANY SECOND". Man i loved that cab, my dad would just leave me at home half the time to not put up with the fight lol
I’m definitely not good enough to play MvC2 online, but starting with Children of the Atom and making my way to MvC2 via arcade mode…I’m 100% enjoying Spiral, Dr. Doom, and M. Bison on a team. The sheer amount of customization and team synergy (or lack thereof) is just beautiful. Your vid convinced me once I get good enough to beat the arcade mode I’ll at least give casual matches a try. At the end of the day, it’s about having fun!
I hope people just enjoy the game and have fun. I played this as a kid but got older and never able to get my hands on again. Yes get good but I hope people just have fun
I played this game … A LOT.. back in the day… not professionally or anything like that, but I could do some serious damage and got into some intense matches… I forgot it and never played it over the last 20 years like some of the die hards… and now that I’m back into the game, I’m loving it because I love the competition… HOWEVER, I do run into those people that have been playing the game for 20 years, and it’s insane how much better they are than me… I consider myself pretty good, but these guys are like Michael Jordan and I’m just a “regular” NBA player
I played MVC2 semi-competitively for over 10 years and you can definitely make Jill/Gambit work but I would suggest an anti-air assist. Just adding Captain Commando assist or Cyclops assist gives you a chance against Storm, Mags and Sent. Even someone like Cammy could be enough if you get good.
Personally I like Cyclopes assist for Jill because it lets u combo into her unblockable zombie set ups in the corner of a hit confirm magic series if I manually super jump, also doom rocks are a fun assist for Jill because u can force tech roll into grab zombie .
@@finnmarr-heenan2397 Cyclops is definitely better in the long run but Capt Commando might be easier for beginners to work with because he deals so much damage and can snipe Storm and Sentinel in the air.
As someone who loves playing mid tier characters, in mvc2 the god tiers play differently. You don’t get access to movement tech like tri jumping or fast fly with Son son or Amingo, unfortunately. So the best mvc2 pros probably really do enjoy playing magneto and sentinel more than the low tiers most of the time, similar to how melee players love their movement tech. But Cable is kind of simpler and not as fun to play as the other top tiers IMO
If I've learned anything from old fighting games is there is still stuff left to be discovered. J Wong AKA the Wazzler has been doing these Jill Zombie set ups that in all my years of playing have never seen. And I've been playing off and on for the 25 years lol
Honestly considering you got to Gold with your team is honestly awesome. It's great you were just willing to play who you wanted because even if the top tiers didn't come to your liking, you found a team you liked and made work, and you took it pretty far, so I would consider that one hell of a success. Also great video overall. Just found this video in recommended and I'm definitely gonna check out what other stuff you got on your channel
Adulthood sucks. Played these cabinets as a kid but I didn't really have anybody to help me understand how to win at these games, and now I have other obligations that get in the way of me improving. Like you said, the best time to get into fighting games is when they first come out. I'm hoping when the physical editions are released I'll have time to work on getting to a decent level of play.
Yeah, this version could've been better if they gave you more options in ranked. Banning certain characters, or the ratio system are both ideas. But they could've just released a separate version that is balanced that eliminates infinites, guard breaks, etc.
Yes you can, i got into it just when it came out this time, and I'm actually progressing, it's frustrating at first, cause everyone is so good at this point, but it is doable 😅
Yes. I don’t even know how to do some of the basic stuff in this game, and I’m able to regularly get competitive matches. It’s not all sweatlords from fightcade who’ve been playing this game nonstop for 20+ years.
Of course a casual can get into it much like anything else in life. There are going to be masters of any craft in every hobby/industry but that shouldn’t discourage a newcomer to join in. If anything newbies should pick the brains of the veterans to expand the growth of the MVC2 community

Dope video! I fully agree with you when playing fighting games. I also choose who I resonate with most or the character I really just like the best regardless of meta/tiers. If they happen to be a top tier then cool, if not, oh well. The great thing about fighting games is that there are so many successful and popular franchises out there that exist within the genre that a person is bound to find a game that they like. For me that's Street Fighter and Fatal Fury.🥋🐺
Totally true, I mean... just speaking of Smash Melee for example (when it comes of having fun playing regardless of tier lists), I love to play with Kirby (who's in Garbage Tier along with Bowser) despite knowing how bad he is in competitive, I could say the same in MVC2 by using some low/garbage tier characters like Roll.
Great video and the montage, was fun to watch. I'm also thinking about getting MvC2, but im a lil bit worried about playing vs people with almost 25 years of experience and how long online will stay alive

I disagree, I don't think anyone buying the game is letting it go because it is so nostalgic for many. I was never good at the game, but I know how to play it. Whenever I come across a top tier team I don't play them again and move on to the next.
Short answer: kind of Long answer: its going to take you a few years to be competitively competent because while you can get to a competent level faster than ever before, while it make take you 2 years to be playing say, evo 2003 mvc2, everyone else is playing 2024 mvc2. But if you truly WANT to grind it out, you CAN overcome the huge gap*. Good luck *i myself have been playing for 15 years and im still only above average competitively on my best days EDIT: you said you want to play who you like…nevermind everything i just said. This isnt the game for that LOL, if you want to play that way, its not gonna happen
Honestly, I think causal can get into marvel 2. It is a wonderful fighting game that has awesome roaster that consist of cool marvel/capcom characters. Plus, it's easy to get into, hard to master. Plus, with this collection you can play these games anytime and where on switch and steam deck. Also the quality of life features like training mode. Causal can get good with time and patience.
@@Fsan6275 Ahhh, I completely forgot about training mode even being a new feature. That’s actually a huge point when it comes to getting into the game for people who aren’t wanting to go the fightcade/emulator route.
@Swizzilous yup. I think now is definitely the time for the gap between the casual and the hard core to begin to close. Due to Mvc2 being a game that can bring everyone together and being easily available is just great.
Dude you sound like me with both fighting games and mvc2! though i did grow up with fighting games thanks to older brother! but i struggled with meeting others who enjoyed fighting games till recently :)
started playing it recently i havent played it since DC and XBOX 360, and i was never good at it, this game is not complicated lost 2wice to a Super Diamond and i won after 3 times in a row on the same Player, until he picked sentinel Storm, that's the only problem lol, Also nice bomberman music i remamber it from the 64 XD
God we had a local pizza joint that had a mahvel 2 cabinet and little 5 year old me was never the same. I got HOOKED on fighting games and have been on the downward spiral ever since ahahahahaha
They definitely can with the help of the internet. They can lean in I’d say…. 2 years? What would normally take someone 15 years. that’s a huge jump. Still 2 years is 2 years. But it’s possible if you want it.
Im still grinding with my average team i get around 35-50 points a win and 1-2 for a loss so i figure it will take me around 4000 matches to make diamond.
For me MvC2 was the cool,. mysterious hame that was alwaus surrounded by older kids and teens. I remember popping a quarter into it and seeing that insane character select screen and hearing that music. It was overwhelming. I picked Cable because cool guy with gun, Mega Man because it was the law for autismos like me to love Mega Man, and Akuma because edgelord. I'm pretty sure i got destroyed by the AI, but i never forgot that first experience.
You should try marvel vs Capcom 3 or at least check out some matches. But either way, mvc2 was how met all of my friends that I have today. I hope that when I buy marvel 2, every one else will come back.
I faced you at some point in ranked n had a fun ass time facin someone else just usin characters they fw thank you for givin me a break from MSS n CSI 😭
short answer. no they cant. in fact fighting games in general are fine for casuals to play if they are playing at home with other casuals or against friends who are casuals. otherwise only play if you like getting mopped up
I would say this (and this is in no way to get you to comeback), what makes marvel, marvel, is cheapness and you understanding what is cheap and if your opponent knows how to counter the cheapness. I have a friend who plays low tier players and he has given Justin a run for his money. Yes folks! The wazzler himself. But it’s about knowing what to do in certain situations. Like on incoming, they are going for a guard break, what to do or how to get strider off you when he is locking you down with doom and orbs or what beats tri jump characters (mag, storm, rogue, sim, etc) or if a team is assist dependent, learning how to bait the assist to kill the assist. And no offense, from your gameplay, I can tell you don’t know the half of it. Justin in some videos or jmcroft expose some of it, but this knowledge is from as you said 2 decades in the making. But I believe once you know this and apply it to your game plan, you will have a much better time playing marvel. Bottom line you gotta be coupon granny sunday morning news paper cheap bro. Cheaper than them
I also only play weak characters. I play Mega Man, BB Hood and Guile. After about 8k points you really feel the tier difference. I am not good at the game at all. The problem is even when you are obviously out classed, your opponent will continue to pick their top tier over and over lol like chill bro I stink at the game lol
@@DanmakuMaster I agree with this completely. It’s not like Capcom would ever go back and rebalance it. You can play it how it is or just play a modern fighting game if the balancing discourages you.
*people can play offline* GASP! Why is it just assumed that the only way to play this collection is playing against others online? Yes, anyone can play these games at any time, even casually.
I'm keeping an eye on it and will see what people think when it comes out. Never really got into arena fighters that much but Dragon Ball is so good and the Tenkaichi and Budokai series was a huge part of my childhood.
The shirt answer yes Pick a ratio Pick a top tier team Learn your bnbs Learn your openers Learn what assists do what If you're expecting to be immediately going to a high rank there are sharks in the water meaning people who have been playing for decades. Also ScrubClops replaces Commando with Cyclops not Cyclops with Sentinel lol you even highlighted it in your video.

Long answer: its going to take you a few years to be competitively competent because while you can get to a competent level faster than ever before, while it make take you 2 years to be playing say, evo 2003 mvc2, everyone else is playing 2024 mvc2. But if you truly WANT to grind it out, you CAN overcome the huge gap*. Good luck
*i myself have been playing for 15 years and im still only above average competitively on my best days
EDIT: you said you want to play who you like…nevermind everything i just said. This isnt the game for that LOL, if you want to play that way, its not gonna happen
I saw your sub count finishing the video and got surprised!! Great content, I hope you get more subs 🙌🏼
Comments like these make it all worth it. Appreciate it!
@@Swizzilous Algorithm blessed me, I’m from Perú 😂🇵🇪
Video: “Can you or I, as a fighting game casual be able to get into MVC2?
Yipes: 👁️👄👁️
What I don't get is, this game have a massive roster but I keep fighting the same magneto, storm, psylocke, sentinel, and iron man team?
started playing it recently i havent played it since DC and XBOX 360, and i was never good at it, this game is not complicated lost 2wice to a Super Diamond and i won after 3 times in a row on the same Player, until he picked sentinel Storm, that's the only problem lol, Also nice bomberman music i remamber it from the 64 XD
God we had a local pizza joint that had a mahvel 2 cabinet and little 5 year old me was never the same. I got HOOKED on fighting games and have been on the downward spiral ever since ahahahahaha
Hell no they can't. A casual couldn't even get into it 20 years ago.
Depends how badly they want it. They can get into it, but winning a major and competing with the pros is a different beast.
They definitely can with the help of the internet. They can lean in I’d say…. 2 years? What would normally take someone 15 years. that’s a huge jump. Still 2 years is 2 years. But it’s possible if you want it.
@@AlexxxPerales casuals don't want it that bad though. They're casuals.
@@I_AM_BAYTORI want it that bad.
@@knotknight514 And if you actually go through with it, you won't be a casual.
Nice video buddy , i completly understand where you're coming from.
Thanks! Glad it's something relatable.
Anybody can play any game they want. It doesnt matter how old the game is nor how gatekeepery the community play what u want.
This man gets it.
Im still grinding with my average team i get around 35-50 points a win and 1-2 for a loss so i figure it will take me around 4000 matches to make diamond.
@@BigTiffany Lmao, I wonder if the losses ever start taking away points after a certain level. I believe in you.
after a couple weeks of trying i can safely answer this. No.
Creepy Nuts for the outrk. 🔥
I like you. You should try skullgirls.
I always like to do for my team in ranked is
2 characters I like and one top tier.
FightCade (with Flycast) has been around for years.
Yes it’s over for newcomers. See you MVC4.
Jin reminded me a lot of Captain Falcon, where he just is energetic and "anime" haha. He literally has a Falcon Punch super LMAO
You might be onto something, I can see it.
9:06 seeing Balloon Shop 😱
More than 30 characters but you will people only use 10 . - sentinel the Rugal on this game
I faced you at some point in ranked n had a fun ass time facin someone else just usin characters they fw thank you for givin me a break from MSS n CSI 😭
short answer. no they cant. in fact fighting games in general are fine for casuals to play if they are playing at home with other casuals or against friends who are casuals. otherwise only play if you like getting mopped up
😂
I don't think casuals have what it takes.
I enjoyed MvC2 growing up but MvC3 was really where it was at for me. I played a ton of BBTag but was never too good at it.
Jill was a favorite for me. I swapped Jin for gambit in Jill, Ken
@@ShinTheLast Jill and Ken seem to have a lot of good synergy. I need to look back at Jin sometime and see what he’s got.
Personally I think it’s fun when not played by pros. But I’d rather play Marvel Super Heros vs Street Fighter, or X-Men vs Street Fighter
@@bigbadvicHo I was surprised by how much I enjoyed those games! Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter feels so satisfying to play.
@@Swizzilous I love the older games 2D backgrounds and music. MVC2 stages and music is weird to me lol
I had it on ps3 i lost every match I was in even after training. MVC1 is way better but this collection just MVC2 for 50 dollars
Anyone can play it. Its up to the individual to cry about the losses they take or not.
Also, Team ScrubClops is ACKTUALLY Cable, Sentinel, Cyclops. 🤓 The jdea js to replace CapCom with someone who is viable if your other characters die.
Yes i bought it a week ago i came from mvc3 tho n have had plenty of exp in the arcade played dbz fighters ln now thats a game you cant just hop in
new marvel players not talking about character balance for an entire video challenge impossible
I'd find it weird if it wasn't brought up tbh.
I think bringing up the imbalance is fine. Complaining about it is the annoying part. It is what it is. The god tiers are here to stay. Long live MSP.
@@DanmakuMaster I agree with this completely. It’s not like Capcom would ever go back and rebalance it. You can play it how it is or just play a modern fighting game if the balancing discourages you.
Just to let you guys know, absolutely no new comer was ever gonna be welcome.
A casual can get into any competitive game! Will they win tournaments? HELL NAH!
They WILL get destroyed at their first local, it's a rite of passage.
@@Swizzilous Exactly!
wait, does gambit NOT say "credit card?"
*people can play offline* GASP!
Why is it just assumed that the only way to play this collection is playing against others online? Yes, anyone can play these games at any time, even casually.
yes, just dodge the wazzler
I've been playing this game since it came out. Grand masters always beat me😅
Anyone can get some
Even the noobs
Refund frame one baby!
Are you gonna get on sparking when it comes out?
I'm keeping an eye on it and will see what people think when it comes out. Never really got into arena fighters that much but Dragon Ball is so good and the Tenkaichi and Budokai series was a huge part of my childhood.
The shirt answer yes
Pick a ratio
Pick a top tier team
Learn your bnbs
Learn your openers
Learn what assists do what
If you're expecting to be immediately going to a high rank there are sharks in the water meaning people who have been playing for decades.
Also ScrubClops replaces Commando with Cyclops not Cyclops with Sentinel lol you even highlighted it in your video.
You’re a master rank Lily that played at Evo, you’re not a casual
Bomberman music!!! U got a sub from me
Bomberman OSTs go crazy. My first exposure to Jungle and DnB as a kid.
Swizz, your Marvel vs. Capcom 2 gameplay was like an Arby’s combo-messy, overwhelming, and I’m still not sure what I just witnessed, but I’m kind of here for it! 😂💥 Watching Jill throw down out there was like ordering curly fries with a side of chaos. Keep serving up that unpredictable flavor! 🍔💥
