I remember one tag duel I was in. Alexis Rhodes was my partner. Our opponents had 600 LP left. She had Marshmallon in her hand. For those who don’t know. Marshmallon is a monster that you can set face down and if your opponent attacked into it, they automatically loose 1000 LP. So literally all she had to do is set it face down, let them attack it and we would win…….. we almost lost because she would literally do anything else but that and I was screaming at my screen trying to tell her do it. Even though we won, I just decided to turn it off to calm down because that was more stress then we needed for an easy win.

What they make you do is team up with your partner and while your opponent teams up with a duplicate version of themself and they play it off like it is a two versus one (story wise).
I played tons of TF3 but I don‘t remember which fight. I guess I‘ll find out soon enough :) I love this idea, solves the problem of Tag opponents always playing decks with 0 synergy.
The later entries in the series did improve a lot in terms gameplay, and some features that they added later were really helpful like the ability to edit your partner deck, cause some characters will pull up with a deck made with only level 5 monsters and they still expect you to win with them. But a really underappreciated feature of this games were the game original cards, some of this cards were completely busted, illusion gate and sabatiel were so good they could carry you through whole of tag force 1, especially sabatiel that card was insane, it was unfortunately nerfed when it was printed to the base game.
Honestly my favourite thing about tag force 1, and the thing which gets me to replay it, is how old it is and how the game is actually approachable. Like if I wanted to try and introduce my friends to yugioh, the card pool from Tag force 1 is far more approachable than modern day yugioh, which is way too complicated. The game still has a lot of general BS in the card pool at the time too, it's just that they're really simple (yet powerful) effects rather than effects which require a degree in law to understand due to how many clauses and conditions there are around them. The length of the game is an unfortunate barrier though.
I think my biggest problem with the game is how long and repetitive it feels. If they had like cut the games length in half or had more side stories I think the overall experience would be better.

I enjoyed this series for the longest time in my childhood, and I remember trying to copy an Evil Heroes deck because I struggled so much against the Supreme King. Had a lot of memories on this one. Alexis on Tag Force 3 was the most hinting one about romance, and even more once you look at the Japanese version of the dialogue lmao, I think there's even more hints of romance in the tier 3 NPCs at Tag Force 4 throughout 6 with the various ending screens. I come back and replay these games sometimes because of the Tag Dueling mechanic, and how much enjoyable it is when you can control them (You can also use the partner control cheat and just parsec that to someone else, it's an enjoyable experience I guarantee you). I love coming back to these older games to see if I could still do good even when limited in terms of summoning mechanics or just generally the cards you can use. It makes you feel like Yusei in a way; collecting cards and seeing if you can use them effectively while also making your decks even stronger. It's one of the game series that I really enjoyed, and I'm just disappointed that it was discontinued. Tag Force 8, pretty please? We really need that. I'm so happy to find someone talking about this beloved series that sadly got forgotten here on my timeline. I also loved this series as well as concept growing up watching the anime on tv as well when it aired in cartoon network. Loved the interested concept of finding ur appropriate that fits your strat partner theme which was highly different uqniue and fun. Loved how you got to experience traveling the duel academy island as you unlock more locations as your advanced through the storymode. High replayablity to unlock more duelists, cards etc. Loved the whole trilogy of this series a ton.
Unbelievable that I started playing this 5 days ago and you literally posted this when I started. Im trying to watch some good content while I play and I definitely found it. Nice.
Pretty good video. I must say I wasn't really expecting to like it given the title, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the video. Have always loved Tag Force.
Thanks for checking it out anyway! I wish it wasn‘t necessary, but choosing thunbnails and titles like these is the name of the game currently, and while I love making these videos regardless, most of you likely wouldn‘t even had a chance to see it due to the algorithm not pushing it.
Next tag force games will have personal stories tied to them. But there won't be any tournaments or linear story to follow through. You just pick a character and raise their hearts to see a new cutscene and a new duel.
Whoa, thats actually pretty cool to have the gameplay of a dating sim but platonic. This must have been so much fun for kids who wanted to roleplay being besties with their fave character. Heck, I wanna play it myself for the same reason! It looks like an absolute nostalgic blast! I thought I saw Crowler as a partner there, so can you pick teachers too? That's wild!
Yeah, after your first playthrough, you can pick basically anyone you want. However, while this game can be quite fun, I find Tag Force 2 and especially 3 even better in many ways.
I've been playing Tag Force since an old friend showed it to me on his PSP, maybe 14-15 years ago. Been on a new save for a few days now in the first game, so the timing of this video is really fitting. Though knowing me, I'm probably just going to rush a mill deck build once I pull my first Needle Worm... I'm just too lazy to make anything that's actually fun.
I love this series to hell and back, to the point that of all the Yugioh videogames that i've played in my life the Tagforce series are the ones i've sunken more hours into. I still have my original Tagforce savefile from 2009 when i was in highschool to this day, if anything i wish that they were more games like this in the franchise.
Tag Force series was the literally the only reason I felt there was something...like anything, that I might have missed out by not having a PSP. Nothing else.
Honestly wish I had one of these when I was kid/teen. Until I learned about emulators in 2011, the last yugioh game I had that actually played real Yugioh was Eternal Duelist Soul for GBA, pure Caveman days.
I remember getting this game when i was 8 or 9, I had no idea you had to make someone like you before you could choose themnas a partner I was so confused that the game kept sending me back to the start until ai notoced the hearts. Eventually I got jaden to like me and I completed the game, I didnt know there were dewuels can't wait for you to cover them.
I didn't even realize this existed! I've had a concept for a game I've wanted to make for a long time that would mix the style/gameplay loop of stardew and gameplay from the sacred cards and pokemon tcg for gameboy. This is pretty close to something I'd wanna make.
Currently playing Tag Force 6. They're all great, but they get even more fun with new summoning mechanics (synchro and xyz). I think the first Tag Force game holds up well and is actually unique in a lot of ways. All of them are must plays if you love the card game imho.
here's the tips about unlock booster pack with friendship partner, all you need to do is have same friendship level to everyone just need maintain SAME LEVEL friendship to buy their corresponding booster pack, then when you done build your deck, go max level friendship your favorite partner or just simply max friendship ALL of them, just give them the right sandwiches and right timing everyday, it's possible max all of friendship in first story part
In this game exstis a Gitch, where you can multiple your Money endless. Therefore you have to duell against Mathew and Nova . After that leave the Story Mode and start the Duell mode there you have to make a Tag Duell with 2000LP and Mathew as a partner and 2 Novas as opponent. Important is, that Mathew has to start for the Maximum of Money. And then let the magic begin
I loved Tag Force games, especially the 3rd one. I'm still not understanding why Konami doesn't release another tag duel supported game (especially with improvements to AI we have now), this was the most fun aspect for me.
The Tag Force series is so fun! The biggest thing that drags it all down in my opinion is how much of a hard-on Konami had for stall decks/tactics for the generic duelists. I'm aware that's a valid, if incredibly annoying, tactic in these games, but when everyone and their mom carries 3 copies of Messenger of Peace it takes the piss
Yeah, I remember the game. The most memorable companion was the fourth version of Blair in tag force 3, where she had a crush on you instead of Jaden. She also had a lightsworn deck, what's not to like?
My experience with the game is actually hilarious cuz i really wasn't good at deck building so i decided to become character who sticks a single theme (which was water monster as it was the starter deck) which was...bad, like really bad, but i had fun even having ace of my own. the final boss esspacially was funny as i was keep losing to him until the final duel where both of us keep bricking, so i chip damaged his health while both of us searching for a monster, this gone back and forth around 7 turn (yes a 14 card brick strike) i beat him with chip damage.
This yugioh has the best so far, i remember when i got a copy of that, im brazillian,i had so few originals to ps2, when i got this i spend so much time, specially bc my english in that era was lacking af, but i managed to win a lot of duels, almost beating the game.
I absolutely loved the tag force series and if they get released as a collection on switch I'll get them again. Also will still save scum the golden eggwich to get everything done quickly.
I played this game as a kid and never got to part 2 because I never understood that I had to give them so many sandwiches to get them to be my team for part 2. It was so grindy and tedious that I just didn’t make the connection. Instead I’d grind tag tournaments on weekends only to be hit with the “You don’t have a partner” at the end of the calendar. I thought it was a way to tell me to buy the secuel or something.
Imagine a game where you mix this game with the style of Hogwarts Legacy, Free Roam around the Academy and in the Academy, talk to anyone and challenge anyone to a duel in modern graphics in 3rd Person, it would be so amazing
I remember this game. I remembered being soft locked once when i attack alexis with elemental hero wild heart and she used astral barrier. It led to an infinite loop and i had to restart
The Japanese version had the best osts on all the yugioh games ( maybe tag force 4 would compete) Best thing about it that those osts are from the anime
Are they completely different form the localized OST? To be honest, „You Lose“ is such a fantastic track, I can‘t imagine anything better for this particular context.
@@YataLock98 Hmm, I'm pretty sure that at least the second example also plays in the localizations. I distinctly remember hearing it back then on my PSP, but I could be wrong.
One grip I did have with the game is that the Slifer Red Duelist just have….. really bad decks. Like literally comedically bad. Like KenYou (mushroom man) and Hiro (who’s strongest monster is a 1500 normal monster) Now I know. Slifer Reds outside of Jaden aren’t suppose to be very good. But with the fact they pass an entrance exam which consist on winning a duel to get into the academy means their decks should have consist of some promise especially if you just started the game at the very least. But no, Slifer Red students in this game are absolutely no challenge. Playing with decks so horrible you think it’s a joke. I think the 2 later games did a much better job on making Slifers still noticeably not all that good but their decks at least have a bit of something to them.
I played all Tag forces and they really do get better with time. The grinding per character is heavily reduced as more Characters are added. With the 5ds series the side games feature to get hearts is way more effective then the random sandwiches. That one you can train yourself in and the better you do the faster you get the hearts. The most cheesy one was Tag Force 3. Or the Lightsworn simulator as I like to call it. They just buffed the most annoying and weakest character to Lightsworns, those beat almost every character with ease, even if the synergy with your partner is almost non existant with later partners. The first 2 were mostly Monarchs, Cyber Dragons and one of my personal favourites: Grenn Baboon, which was able to trigger in the damage step back then. The fourth one was dominated by Blackwings for me, although for the very early game Monarchs are still a force. Lightsworns are no longer an option since those just got diverted into several different packs instead of all being in one. The very late game is dominated by dark synchros, there's a really efficiant combo that is quite successfull. The combo consists of a dark tuner that just destroys stuff if he's used as synchro material. Then a lot of special summon techs, then inferno reckless summon and last is level eater. Also Dark Grepher and Armageddon Knight to get that tuner and Eater in the grave. Additional removal is the actual dark Synchro arachnid that can snack any monster from the opponent, not only face up. For TF5 I just love the dark Synchro as it is accessable earlier than in the previous thing. Othervise, I still like my monarchs. TF6 is huge and I just love the point where I can start playing the Mecklords. The multi part ones that is. One Limiter Removal not only powers up the infinity core but also the parts, which also buffs the infinity core even more. It can not only double but quadruple your power... and is surprsingly easy to setup. For earlier there are the usual Monarchs and Synchrons where I have a setup that can put out a turn 1 Quasar 90% of the time. That's usually enough for the ai to struggle. In Tag Force Special the ai got somehow super buffed. But in return it's also super slow... I remember one time where I duelled with the ai Kaiba against some special dragon ruler opponents. They had a full field, we had almost nothing. We were behind and almost losing. Then the Kaiba ai kept thinking and thinking with a 5 card hand. I went to (a longer) visit on the toilett. 10 Minutes later I return to see, that Kaiba somehow turned the duel around 180, the opponent had nothing left and just ended his turn, all I had to do was attack for game. For actual Tag Duels I try to stick to the partners strategy for the most part, if it's not total garbage or TF3. The garbage characters I just get of the list for last and stick to the most powerfull thing I have that has the most synergy. Also at least in the later games there's also the option to just modify the partners deck early. Also, Monarchs go with almost anything.
I've played all the western release games in the tag force series! I loved them so much but the first was the best but it unfortunately went downhill with each sequel

This game isn't weird, nor is it a dating sim. Even insinuating that is outrageous. In fact, the tag duel series was the one series of Yu Gi Oh games that Konami got right. It has everything from the exciting duels, the large roster of cards and duel styles, almost every rule was done correctly, you have your own character, a clear path of progression, no micro transactions, lots of characters from the original show and the ability to interact with them, as well as an acceptable plot for a card game. Compared with everything we have today for Yu Gi Oh, this and the other games are 10/10

Currently playing spirit caller. That and nightmare troubadour was always my main two games on the DS during my teenage years
Whoa, thats actually pretty cool to have the gameplay of a dating sim but platonic.
Bro hearing that backing music again after so long truly tripped me out for a sec
“Losing” theme is my FAVORITE song in all of tagforce, so nice to see somebody with great taste as well!
My brother and I love this game,I still play this game.
Bastion finally gets a moment under the sun
Since he's a Ra Yellow and Ra is the sun god, he doesn't need to be under the sun,
He's wearing the sun itself at all times 😎
@@setteplays besides the time he stripped naked and ran around the campus...
I didn't even realize this existed! I've had a concept for a game I've wanted to make for a long time that would mix the style/gameplay loop of stardew and gameplay from the sacred cards and pokemon tcg for gameboy.
This is pretty close to something I'd wanna make.
Now there's HD Texture for this game. They look incredible
Currently playing Tag Force 6. They're all great, but they get even more fun with new summoning mechanics (synchro and xyz).
I think the first Tag Force game holds up well and is actually unique in a lot of ways. All of them are must plays if you love the card game imho.
I loved how some of the boss monsters had awesome attack animations.
This is one of my childhood games,i played it in ps2, it introduced me to yugiyoh, it was hard for me because i didn't know what was happening at all.
Still playing this game and the old tag forces from time to time, even playing beginning of destiny currently. Just some good ol fashion yugioh.
I spent a significant portion of my childhood playing the PS2 version of this game. Very fun, albeit tedious at times.
I have you know, I LOVED that game for THAT exact reason.
I want a legecy collection for this series so bad
here's the tips about unlock booster pack with friendship partner, all you need to do is have same friendship level to everyone
just need maintain SAME LEVEL friendship to buy their corresponding booster pack, then when you done build your deck, go max level friendship your favorite partner
or just simply max friendship ALL of them, just give them the right sandwiches and right timing everyday, it's possible max all of friendship in first story part
I started from tag force 3. Enjoy this serie a lot and play till tag force special
Another phenomenal gx era yugioh game is wc 2008. I have HUNDREDS of hours replaying that game.
”How do i start this contraption”
To be fair, this was probably more sensible then making The King of Fighters a dating sim.
This yugioh has the best so far, i remember when i got a copy of that, im brazillian,i had so few originals to ps2, when i got this i spend so much time, specially bc my english in that era was lacking af, but i managed to win a lot of duels, almost beating the game.
Subscribing in the hopes more tag force reviews, dating sims can be looking into for science.
Isn't Yugioh Tag Force Beginning of Destiny just tag force 1 but as a ps2 port?
I remember this game. I remembered being soft locked once when i attack alexis with elemental hero wild heart and she used astral barrier. It led to an infinite loop and i had to restart
loved all the tag force games... wish there was one with nowadays cards.
The Japanese version had the best osts on all the yugioh games ( maybe tag force 4 would compete)
Best thing about it that those osts are from the anime
Are they completely different form the localized OST? To be honest, „You Lose“ is such a fantastic track, I can‘t imagine anything better for this particular context.
@@Din-Oh
You actually used some of the Japanese ones in the video
7:52
13:10
Are an example ( and my favourite)
@@YataLock98 Hmm, I'm pretty sure that at least the second example also plays in the localizations. I distinctly remember hearing it back then on my PSP, but I could be wrong.
@@Din-Oh
I think that there is a psp version that had this music ( called tag force), unlike the beginning of destiny which has another music.
Crazy how Tag Force to this day is still better than any modern game
This was my FAVORITE game when I was a kid
Those Obelisk Blue girls had me feeling some kinda way back then
The protagonist is actually a prototype android from the future.
One grip I did have with the game is that the Slifer Red Duelist just have….. really bad decks. Like literally comedically bad. Like KenYou (mushroom man) and Hiro (who’s strongest monster is a 1500 normal monster)
Now I know.
Im one of those who didn’t have internet back then so i never discovered how to play this game untill now
The game is fun af, works like a charm on anbernic handhelds
I remember wishing there was a character out there that could combo well with my Silent Level deck back then. xD
This game was the first time many a yugioh virgin went on a date. No wonder this game was so difficult for these guys. We want card games, not girls
Tag Force will always be the GOAT, even if the partner AI frequently gives me a brain aneurysm...
Is TF1 your favorite? I see you playing it a lot on stream recently.
@Din-Oh yeah, I never had a PSP, so Tag Force Evolution, the Ps2 port of the first game, was all I had growing up 😆 I've started to check out the others now though through the power of emulation lmao
I loved Tag Force. 3-5 kept me busy for years.
I would love to see you talk about the 5d World Championship series it such a cool bunch of games
0:25)
Ah yes, very non-controversial advertisement, Sony.
Waaaay to go 💀
Dude, I only learnt about this because of editing this video, and when I saw it the first time, my jaw dropped lmao
@@Din-Oh
Fair enough honestly like who at Sony thought that was a good idea?
The question this video gave me was "are there any GX-era characters I would *want* to date? Asuka/Alexis isn't really my type..."
Man i was SO obssesed with these games! I sucked so i never finished it, but i bought the first one like...3 times because the disk kept getting scratched and i just couldnt handle not playing it. I was SO bummed out i couldnt choose the playable character's gender lol
Compared with everything we have today for Yu Gi Oh, this and the other games are 10/10
I had a massive crush on Chazz when I was a kid. I remember playing this game and constantly checking on him and feeding him like he was a Tamagotchi just to get him to like me lol
That pfp makes a lot of sense then!
@LittleXAnimeXMonster It does. He's remained one of my favourite characters. It's just a shame how it started lol
Still hope this and the 5ds games get remasters one day
"This game is extremely Easy"
tell that to my stupid ass playing this when i was a middle schooler, running a 80 cards ritual deck.
That dorothy thumbnail got me acting unwise... what?
Young me had a huge crush on Alexis Rhodes and of course she was my first Partner. I instantly remember the final "relation" scene with her on the beach :')
I actually have a copy of the game for the PS2 I like the game however like you said the game is way too long and I don’t even think I ever ended up finishing it. Had to continuously played and you were getting the same results all the time.
i have a special connection with this game (or the PS2 "remake" for that matter). I got that game arond that time i met my man which is also kinda a yugioh fan so we both played it. I currently play this game on my RG35X H (now the PSP version) but also all the other Tag Force games (the other received fan translations)
I only stuck with the championshop series on NDS. Is there any game on the tag team series that stand out?
I really want a remaster of this game series
