The green/white bike on the balcony is an OSSA. A Spanish manufacturer famed for its Trials and Enduro motorcycles, mainly ‘70’s and 80’s but the name has reappeared in recent years. A competitor of Montesa and Bultaco.
Hilarious interplay at the end. What a great video. Monica was a legend - closing in on the cat and ignoring that bike on the balcony, making Freddie do the helmet lock and then gentle ribbing over cofee. Absolutely charming. Totally agree about the Royal Enfield - can't wait.
Thanks Freddie, Its my weekend and I was thinking of this channel whole day. I got my good whiskey and mannnn M enjoying your vlogs and there's nothing better than this. I request you never stop uploading these stunning vlogs.
Such good fun guys!!! The chat at the end was funny as!! That Super Meteor is gonna sell big time. That engine is well-proven now as being reliable, smooth, and generally great. And the bike looks stylish. A Landrover...mmm...yes...I want one too. Again. But guys, seriously, drive one first, because well, they're...awful!! Depending on what you use them for of course!! Thanks for another fun vid. Travel and ride safe.
Freddie you have to visit a town called Bassella. There is an antich motorbike museum. You'll enjoy there a lot. In fact you were recording very near there in your travel to Andorra some months ago. You won't regret it.
The old defenders are amazing.. I remember in the 90s even here in Texas, there was a guy in north Dallas who restored them, and he had a whole lot full of pristine examples. Most were around $10k... my dream car as a high school kid… Imagine the value of these today..
@@stevebolton8471you obviously didn’t look after them then! Mine is 30 years old and is my everyday vehicle with over 300,000 miles on it.. it’s let me down once when the clutch went! Obviously it’s had plenty of faults but it’s unusual for them to leave you stranded! Sure it makes noises and smells funny sometimes and the rain comes in the door but it’s reliable…I also run 3 defender which we use to tow ships ropes and wires… they tow well beyond the recommended 3500 kgs and they all provide great reliable service! I find many people making comments about them and I’m sure most have never even driven one that alone owned one!
lovely to see you are still having nice weather when it's "dreich" here in Scotland (wet and cold!) Beautiful country roads and interesting old buildings plus amusing discussion about buying a new bike as opposed to an expensive camera! I think you will bring a ray of sunshine in the coming wintry days and months ( especially after todays bleak "autumn financial statement"). Dark days ahead!
Really glad you enjoyed it Andrew🙂 Ahhhh I know- I’ve been following the economic news in the UK and it is quite depressing! Sending all my best🏴
Get yourself a defender Freddie! so much fun to drive, and will teach you a hell of a lot about mechanics. I have a '71 Series 3, and absolutely love it. Would be an interesting addition to the channel.
Thanks Freddie and Monica for the quick tour of the towns and villages near Barcelona. Beautiful scenery. It occurs to me that although we hear Monica’s voice, I don’t think I have ever seen her on camera which is a shame. Is it camera shyness ? It would be nice to see you both together sometimes. Just a thought. Cheers ,Dan. ✌️🏍🇨🇦
Another EXCELLENT video! As a 2022 Speedmaster owner who was convinced to make the jump based on your video reviews of the bike, I highly recommend it and appreciate that it’s still #1 on your short list. 😊 And Freddie, I appreciated your comment about the cost of Monika’s Leica 😂. It’s all relative, right? Whatever brings you joy, is quality and value, and makes you more productive, is well worth it, be it a motorcycle or a camera. Cheers!
I've banked that location, thank you. Defenders in Spain would be a good bet because the lack of salt means much less chance of a rotten chassis or bulkhead. Check carefully! Climb underneath. Most leak from underneath in the transmission area, although one former colleague said to start worrying when nothing leaks out. It's empty then. Left hand drive no problem with the high ride height. Balance savings against import costs I suppose. But I'd have to say they are a second car, nit a daily driver. Really good watch. Safe, happy travels 👍
Love to see you get the Super Meteor Freddie.. I'm not a fan of cruisers myself but it might be interesting especially as it's an RE, those engines are great and so far super reliable. Love your off-season trips, it cheers me up being as I am in the depths of a Czech winter... cheers
Hi Freddie this is Oscar from Catalunya. I use to ride Montseny often. Glad you enjoyed. I am exactly on the point. Second hand speedmaster or wait for the new Super Meteor 650. I am a proud owner of Street Triple 675 double bubble 2010 version. Cheers
I just wanted to comment the same. But Freddy is right - the RE is about the price of a Leica. The arguments are on the table, let the discussion begin. 😁
Dear Freddie, thank you so much for all your content and thanks to Monica for all her efforts as well. It is such a joy and gift to see you discovering beautiful landscapes (especially on the Bonneville ;). I am going to do my motorcycle license in a few months and am already more excited by watching your videos. Your videos really stand out and show that you can use a bike anywhere and anyhow. I also wanted ask if you have ever tested a good old BMW K100 or if you would someday. P.S. your eyes for the old bike on the restaurant balcony are incredible. Thanks in a lot in advance and a great time to both of you! Enjoy it. Greetings from northern Germany.
Thank you Araz!🙂 Ooooo I bet you cannot wait to start the process of doing your bike test!!😀 The BMW K100 is a really beautiful bike- I’ve never tried one, but I love the look! Sending my best to you in Germany🙂👋🇩🇪
Forget the Mercedes, you failed to notice the 3 door discovery! Much more practical than the merc, shifts rubbish , furniture, motorbikes, tows a trailer and can do all that off road as well if required. Mine will be 30 years old next year . More comfortable than a defender as well ( I've owned a few defenders) yet it's mechanically the same as a defender....
Hey Freddie! You just passed by my home today, the very roads you took before the 4x4 place. Glad you like my area ;) And where you stopped for coffe is where my family lived and had their business for the longest time.
Beautiful scenery and nice ride thanks. Now a couple of points, No one says you only have to have one bike and probably most of the people watching this have 2 or more. And if you contacted RE and asked for a long term loan on a bike, they would say yes and they have been known to say "just have it and keep it" they've done it before 😁 And as for padlocking your helmets D ring, not a good idea, older bikes used to unlock the seat and it hinged up on the side and had a little clip just for your helmet D rings, which was great, one day I came back to my bike and someone had just cut the strap of my lovely Bell helmet, left the d ring and a bit of strap and pinched the helmet 🤬 Also your googles / visor on that lid are expensive. Keep up the great work guys Mark
Great Vlog @'Freddie Dobbs. Smashing scenery around and beyond Barcelona. Monica knows you too well Freddie and remembers all you say about bikes. 😂😂🤣🤣
🤣Luv it !! Great place guys and so devoid of traffic I long to be there , and I will be watching this space hope you can get a test ride on the new Enfield Meteor 650 although is it going to be down on power compared to your Bonnie and the Speed Master is a 1200 although probably twice the price so interesting proposition guys 😉👍
I really feels like you’ve got the roads to yourself up in the hills (limitless space). This is the question; does the Super meteor have enough character, charm and feel good vibes to negate the lack of power that the Speedmaster offers🤔
Excellent stuff Freddie I have a speedmaster and Enfield 350 classic both excellent bikes, however like you the Enfield 650 cruiser sound very appealing👍 I love your videos and it keeps me thinking of my next European road trip. You and Monica make a great team
Great video, don't forget the Bassella Motorcycle Museum north of Barcelona on route to Andorra in the beautiful mountains of the Mid- Pyrenees. Look out for Solsona and Col de Nargo. Nargo has a space observatory on the high rocks overlooking the road. Check out the opening times of the museum on their website. Have fun. Have posted this earlier but appear to have disappeared.
I often ride the mountainous region of Alicante Provence, Valencia. inland from Benidorm is very picturesque, Busot to Relleu, Sella and all points up around Alcoy...Spanish county roads are usually in very good repair, quiet in terms of volume of traffic and are some of the best 'Biker' roads....Enjoy your trip in España
I totally agree with your comment about the super meteor, it is the best bang for the buck if you're looking for an old school cruiser. I almost pulled the trigger on a speed twin 900, but now that i've seen the super meteor , i'm glad I didn't.
-Freddy wonderful channel you got here. I had been following it for a while now, I really enjoyed and coz of that i'm seriously thinking go for Bonneville as soon i could past my test. I have a suggestion if you allow me, some the places that Monica and you visit they are so marvelous i would like visit them some point and would be awesome if could show maps and routes that you take to get to this places. anyway all the best for you and Monica.
So, down I popped to my Triumph dealership yesterday, Tiger in for Major service and a go on the bobber to try out the midset controls. Mentioned to the salesman about the speedmaster again and that I like the look of the chrome version. We have one allocated to us he said, with no name on it!! It now has a name on it! MINE whoop whoop Just a waiting game now 😉
Love watching your videos, there great. Scenery looks amazing, didn't realise it is so green there. I'm looking to get a bike early next year, after a few years without one. Still undecided, either a RE Interceptor or older Bonneville, I think both look great
If you can the Picos de Europa mountains in Spain have some excellent biking roads, the Piston rally is held there every year. While in that area check out Santillana del mar, the caves of Altamira and a bit further on Salamanca is stunning, well worth a visit. Good video. The orange one is a series 3.
I would love to meet Monika’s mum - I bet she runs a tight ship and Monika has picked up those skills! A Leica is a lifetime investment and can even be used to make money - as indeed a Bonneville can be - just a couple of thoughts 🤔! Thanks for another great video!
Superb video as usual, Fred. My 76 year old father is really interested in the RE Meteor 350, but I've just sent him the blurb on the 650 which has peaked his interest. For you though, I don't think the 650 lump will give you enough horses for what you've become used to. I think for you and a cruiser, you'll LOVE my Triumph Thunderbird 1600 (it's not for sale, hehehe) or maybe the Speedmaster. I think the RE 650 would be a bit tame for you, in all honesty.
@@FreddieDobbs also tempted by the Kawasaki Vulcan S and if I had more money the lovely triumph speedmaster featured in some of your earlier videos. Looking forward to what you do next.
Hi Freddie, re the tip on locking the helmets using the D rings and a large padlock - why don't you just use the helmet locks which are under the seat of every Bonneville? you slip the D ring into one of those wire hooks, helmet hanging over the side of the bike, and lock the seat back on....
Got to say I'm with you on the Super Meteor. Looking to change, reluctantly, my Triumph Tiger 800 due to hip problems. Was looking at the Superspeed but the Royal Enfield is tempting me away. Wish you luck getting it passed Monica 🤣
So you went to el Montseny? You need to visit the lovely village of Siurana. And if you like mountains visit Vall D'Aran. Their villages are beautiful. You can also go to Ripoll and the area named Ripollès. Its also very beautiful. Camprodón is also cool. Osona (Vic is the capital city) is also cool and in the way to Ripoll. Where they have pig products, very good pig products if you like them. El Pedraforca (mountain) in el Berguedà is also very cool, and the roads are twisty. There's many many other places, just those came to mind now. About the Defender: It's everywhere in the mountains. It's THE vehicle there. It's always been. And the Nissan Patrol of course
wow!...what a beautiful ride!...and again...the history you get to enjoy...the stone buildings...and the Defenders...the older ones..are also my favorite...so funny Monica calling you out about selling the Bonneville...LOL...excellent video...and glad to see Monica is back..lol
Hahah, the end wrap up was funny 😄 I work in a dealership in Ballarat Australia, and I can't wait to try 650 cruiser, will be really interesting to see how it is, how it sells etc etc
Hola! Freddie bike addict😊 and very tolerant Monika! Very nice scenes in your video, I always enjoy these coffee cups and so on ... on the table but did you try some tapas? I did not see yet...
As ever totally enjoyable being a passenger with you guys. To even confuse you more, Shinray have bought out a Sportster style bike called the SWM 1200 Custom. I’m not sure if I can download some pictures for you but will try below;
why do you have to sell the Bonneville in order to buy an other bike? I really like the way of your videos,- its so relaxing to watch and the style is very nice. Still the more important matter. If the new Meteor will be apx £7K, the small Bonnevilles start at 8.5? Some of the new Chinese made EU bikes are less than that, so the Meteor is not cheap with only 42hp- in my opinion that is.
The Montseny (pronounced "Monsane" in Catalan) road is a classic with the local riders; I've done it so many times that I could probably ride it with my eyes closed! Interesting pub quiz fact: on the other side of the mountain is a place called Seva, which is where 500cc World Champion Àlex Crivillé hails from.
Beautiful scenery 👌 Totally agree with you on the new Enfield. I'm keeping my speedmaster, but fully intend on trading in my Interceptor for one when they hit the states.
Very interesting to hear this Keith re switching your Interceptor for the Super Meteor. I’d be really interested to hear your future thoughts on long term ownership: Speedmaster vs Super Meteor
Ah Freddie, I bought a new interceptor last year, and although it was a great bike it started to corrode within six months. It was ridden in the rain only a handful of times and kept in a dry garage. Great as a second bike like the missendon flyers, but you can not beat your triumph for an all rounder. Could you utilise your charm and get Royal Enfield to lend you one.
I don't know what it is about Spain or the Canaries but when we hire a car and get away from the commercialised towns the villages always seem to be deserted, it's eerie.
Freddie, if you ever have a bad crash, I think the transfusion would have to be coffee rather than any known blood type. Nice film as usual: weather could not be more of a contast with UK, it's hissed-down all day. Can't wait to see Royal Enfield's easy-riders, they'll be holding up series Land Rovers on their way to bowls tournaments.
I was extremely lucky to be one of the lucky first 300 (I think) customers who managed to get myself those EXACT jeans from XL Moto - delivered to the UK - for under £18 with the promotion code. Keep your eyes peeled on their Instagram feed from 11am onwards in the UK, that's when the further discount codes seem to be put out but they go very, VERY quickly.
Loving the scenery and roads, a lot better than city centres, also love hearing Monica get involved. I think you need her to remind you of all the bikes you keep loving the most and also how much you love the Bonnie, which could always go into storage, it has a story to tell and when you're famous you can flog it for millions 😂
I guess you'll find rain all the way in France and even here. It's very strange that we haven't had proper rain in many months and it should be colder and rainier right now
Very good question- Barcelona is pretty much still like British summer (sunny and 19-24 degrees and t-shirt weather). Northern France is the only part that’d possibly be unpleasant, but the Santander ferry would sort that out! It’s still glorious down here in Barcelona; people swimming in the sea, biking weather every day and sitting outside for lunch🙂☀️
Oh David, you’ve read my mind- I’ve just been ferociously told off by Monika for wasting hours searching for old Defenders😆 I think I’ll be booted out onto the street soon if I carry on!
With all the riding you do in cooler temps, I am surprised that you have yet to acquire a windscreen for your bike. Makes all the difference in the world. And depending on the height of the screen, Monica would benefit from one too.
This is a very interesting point- I am curious about trying a bike with a proper sized windscreen. I briefly tried a tiny wind deflector but didn’t find it helped hugely
@@FreddieDobbs Were I in your shoes, I would consider the V-Strom 650. Not too big or too small. Decent on both unpaved roads and highways. And you're a tall dude; you wont feel cramped on it. Just sayin'.
I don't know if I've asked this...what is that seat you have...sorry I haven't commented in a while...great stuff as usual and glad to see those Subs getting close to 75K...keep it up!!!
😏 Freddie, my wife has told me to stop watching your videos… because any time I do, the debit card comes out 🙁😂. Love the vlogs and always look forward to the next instalment. You and Monica stay safe 👍.
I wonder how well the super meotor will sale and at what price. Freddie I have to ask because you've never do e a video on one. What do you think of the kawasaki z900. Its has the same retro styling as your Bonneville and Japanese reliability?
Great video Freddie, just a quick moan, I bought a pair of gloves from Motolegends near Guildford at the weekend and then found that XLMOTO had them advertised for just over £30 cheaper on their Black Friday deal. Tried to take advantage of Motolegends price match offer but they wouldnt accept XLMOTO as they are an EU company, being based in Sweden and Motolegends don't price match against EU countires! Real shame as I like XLMOTO's selections, but then found Infinity Motorcycles, based in Farnborough UK offering a similar price so eventually got my price match from Motolegends! Happy days. Rant over......

Hi, most bikes have hooks built under the seat you can use to attach the helmet either side.
The Bonneville’s seat is a ridiculous design where you need a screw driver to release it (madness, I know!🤯)

Argentina- fantastic! Sending all my best, Fito🙂👋🇦🇷
We did- really really beautiful area!🙂
@@FreddieDobbs Nice ! Hope any comments help. Also don't forget to go to la Costa Brava :)
Wait! LEICA Monika!? Say whaaaaaat? xD
Such a lovely place... Always love your vids. Glad to see someone else except me who is interested in RE super meteor 😊😊🙏🏻🙏🏻.. hello from India 🇮🇳🙏🏻🇮🇳
Loved your check shirt
wow!...what a beautiful ride!...and again...the history you get to enjoy...the stone buildings...and the Defenders...the older ones..are also my favorite...so funny Monica calling you out about selling the Bonneville...LOL...excellent video...and glad to see Monica is back..lol
I was put firmly in my place, Kevin!😆🙋🏻♀️
Hahah, the end wrap up was funny 😄
I work in a dealership in Ballarat Australia, and I can't wait to try 650 cruiser, will be really interesting to see how it is, how it sells etc etc
I like the way you film things and the music is really different and cool, I wanted to eat those croissonts. From OZ
Hola! Freddie bike addict😊 and very tolerant Monika! Very nice scenes in your video, I always enjoy these coffee cups and so on ... on the table but did you try some tapas? I did not see yet...
you are lucky to ride the new bsa gold star looking forward to watch it i have a golden flash
Freddie! I’m moving to Spain in June and torn between the Super Meteor 650 or a Honda CB500X. I was as excited about EICMA for the same reason!
As ever totally enjoyable being a passenger with you guys.
To even confuse you more, Shinray have bought out a Sportster style bike called the SWM 1200 Custom. I’m not sure if I can download some pictures for you but will try below;
Sorry,
that didn’t seem to work with me sending pictures…
The Landy is a Series 3, headlights in the front wings, Series 1 and 2 have then headlights in the front pannel
If you do get the Royal Enfield super meter you would need to get the grand tourer seat for Monica fitted witch looks great by the way ☺️👍🏾
why do you have to sell the Bonneville in order to buy an other bike?
Monsane? No. We pronounce Montseny as it's written.
Monsén or Monsane is like a Spaniard that doesn’t try to pronounce it right would say it. Source: I live in Montseny ;)
I can see where Alex Criville must’ve picked up his love of bikes- it is riding heaven around Montseny!🙂
@@FreddieDobbs well hopefully I'll be able to obliged
Ah Freddie, I bought a new interceptor last year, and although it was a great bike it started to corrode within six months. It was ridden in the rain only a handful of times and kept in a dry garage. Great as a second bike like the missendon flyers, but you can not beat your triumph for an all rounder. Could you utilise your charm and get Royal Enfield to lend you one.
If you come to Tarragona region you must ride around the Priorat area. I live here and would love to show you on my triumph thunderbird
You should open up a Enfield shop in Suffolk. We still don't have one !
fantastic content, I really your guys videos
Noooooooo !!! It’s got to be the Speedmaster!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻
I don't know what it is about Spain or the Canaries but when we hire a car and get away from the commercialised towns the villages always seem to be deserted, it's eerie.
This is so true- they’re all like ghost towns!
Hay Freddy. The green jacket your wearing, I love it. Do you have a link to get one 😊
This is very true!😆☕️
‘Easy………..’ 😅😅😅 some nice (quieter) roads to enjoy Freddie 😎 is the SuperMeteor a cut price Speedmaster?
I think you’re spot on JB- that’s probably a very fair way to describe the Super Meteor
I like the video. Awesome.
You guys are fantastically talented & funny! Love both your enthusiasm & creativity 🙌 Now Monika is giving you stick about your desire changes 😉
Thank you Steve! Monika is now sick of my bike hunting nonsense😆🙋🏻♀️🏍
Loving the scenery and roads, a lot better than city centres, also love hearing Monica get involved. I think you need her to remind you of all the bikes you keep loving the most and also how much you love the Bonnie, which could always go into storage, it has a story to tell and when you're famous you can flog it for millions 😂
Haha thank you Dave!😆🏍
I do keep getting over excited about a LOT of different bikes. I try to stay level headed… but find it veeeeery difficult!
Nice bro ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey Freddie, Can you remind us what panniers and rails you are using?
Stick with the BONNEVILLE Freddie. Take it around the clock !
The weather looks great in Barcelona now, would you recommend riding down from the UK at this time of year ?
I guess you'll find rain all the way in France and even here. It's very strange that we haven't had proper rain in many months and it should be colder and rainier right now
Very good question- Barcelona is pretty much still like British summer (sunny and 19-24 degrees and t-shirt weather). Northern France is the only part that’d possibly be unpleasant, but the Santander ferry would sort that out! It’s still glorious down here in Barcelona; people swimming in the sea, biking weather every day and sitting outside for lunch🙂☀️
I think Freddie will buy a Defender before he gets rid of the Bonnie🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOL - my pocket knife will defeat ur helmet lock system. Great video as always back to the old school style and away from the Moto GP glam.
Freddie I’d imagine southern Spain would be a great place to pick up a dry Landy at a good price. RWD conversion and you’re in business
Or here in Catalunya
Oh David, you’ve read my mind- I’ve just been ferociously told off by Monika for wasting hours searching for old Defenders😆
I think I’ll be booted out onto the street soon if I carry on!
Gosh you dropped the mic at the end there Freddie. Monika usually has you but you pulled out the 'Leica' card 😂
Keep both, I have a vintage Vespa and a RE, keep them both :D
I don't know if I've asked this...what is that seat you have...sorry I haven't commented in a while...great stuff as usual and glad to see those Subs getting close to 75K...keep it up!!!
Thank you so much. It’s called the Royal or the King and Queen seat and it’s a Triumph original seat. It’s as comfy as a sofa🙂👌🏻
@@FreddieDobbs Thanks for confirming...much appreciated
