I introduced my niece (age7) to sly 1 on ps2, and this is the first game shes played that is actually a challenge for her since its not as coddling as todays games. shes constantly dying on the same parts i remember dying in when i was her age, and in the beginning would often try to get me to do it for her. Luckily i would just give her advice and encouragment and after a few more deaths she’d beat the level and would be overjoyed when she did. Just yesterday she beat all of mugshots world in one sitting (only getting keys but still). My favorite part is after she dies a bunch and complains about how hard it is ill ask her if she wants to take a break and she’ll stare at the screen, shake her head “no” and gesture for the controller back while saying “one more try”…it brings warmth to my heart
Forgive me for being lengthy, but feel free to read a dream idea of Sly 5 I cooked up years ago It would pick up immediately after 4, and Sly being trapped in Egypt would be the tutorial level. After, he gets captured by a time traveling Clockwerk who takes him back to the present. Sly would then escape and find Bentley and Murray. Realising his archnemesis is still alive, the gang gears up once again. This time, Clockwerk is upgraded and too powerful for the gang, so they go back in time to try to prevent clockwerk from ever constructing himself. This would make sly meet more of his ancestors and each chapter, they help the ancestor steal a part from Clockwerk so he can't construct his metal body. My ancestors and settings would be Henrietta One Eye Cooper in the West Indies, Thadeus Winslow Cooper in Victorian era England, Otto Van Cooper in pre WW1 Germany, Slaigh McCooper in Celtic Scotland, and finally...Connor Cooper in Present Day. And we'd finally drove into Clockwerk's past and see why he hated the coopers so much. The layout of each hub world would be similar along with jobs and open world qualities the past games had along with jobs. The ancestors would be playable along with unique gimmicks. Henriette would be able to swing from any roof or building with a grappling hook that ejects from her cane, much like how a pirate boards a ship, which is her specialty. Thadeus would be a master of disguise and able to fool any enemy easily, slipping past places while still being seen and unlike sly's disguises that limit his movement, Thaddeus can move without restriction and still fight and climb and sneak. Otto would be an inventor who makes equipment for the gang and improves bentley's chair, Murray's gloves and mask, and modifies their binocucoms to now see through walls. He will be the only cooper ancestor who isn't playable due to only being an inventor. Slaigh will be pure strength and have the ability to one hit any enemy, however he will be slow and unable to climb due to his immense size. And Connor will play exactly like Sly except unlike Sly, Connor can turn completely invisible without draining his power gauge due to his refined and perfected thievery. I'd also have Carmelita and the other cooper gang friends return. Including our boy Dimitri. I'd also explore Sly's relationship with the ancestors more. He barely interacted with them in 4 other than explain the situation. I'd dedicate each chapter to have one level where Sly bonds with the ancestor by assisting in a heist they want to pull off (such as Henriette wanting to steal Long John Silver's treasure, so she has sly assist her to see if he's a real Cooper). I'd make these "Ancestor Bond Heists" optional and challenging, but upon completion Sly will be taught a new trick by the ancestor he bonded with. I'd name this game Sly Cooper: Thieves Forever. Just my idea
I, as a lover of the Sly Cooper series since childhood, created new hopes for the future of the series with this news, even more so when I found out that the game was released here in Brazil too (since the version of "Sly Cooper Collection" was not released here, as it unfortunately only exists in the Premium version of PSN, something we don't have here). I'm looking forward to playing Sly 1 on my PS4, the only problem is The price is R$53 here But I intend to save some money and buy it soon. It's so good to see our childhood game series coming back to life little by little. I have hope for the future of Sly Cooper

i waited for so long for jak and daxter to get brought back and i think the reality is that all of these series will very likely never see a new entry and ports of older games occaisonally is all we'll see for them, i'm honestly suprised ratchet and clank and sackboy managed to get new games somehow because platformers just don't make these millions if not billions of dollars of revenue that greedy corporations like sony want from them
It'd be cool if we got a physical release of the trilogy they did back on PS3 that would be nice I mean I'm happy we're getting this but it'd be cool if we got that also
streaming games such as Xbox game pass or the new PlayStation servers are so much significantly better than you think. although if your internet isn't the best you'll never have a good time
@@jamby4802 Google stadia was actually really good and the serviced available today are actually much better. it's definitely well past the playable state and I would definitely go as far to say if you're stuck on PS4 or Xbox One you absolutely should prefer to stream your games because it'll be a better experience overall. better graphics definitely better frames(it'll look like 60fps where as on that generation youd be extremely lucky to pull a consistent 25 fps usually less). the big advantage being the frame rate increase. it's definitely still new tech but it's being bottlenecked by the average connection rather than any sort of innovation
wait what PS3 HD COLLECTION ? i got it on disc .even though i owned all versions too play ps2 ones and ps3 trilogy . also i played all 3 growing up not being a fanboy too one franchise i enjoy jak and daxter it was my first game i got my ps2 then i grew up with the sly cooper then rachet and clank 3 man they need too stop doing rachet and clank and continue doing a jak 4 and sly cooper 5 makes no sense for rachet and clank too have 16 games and new one on the way .after how rift apart ended man i emulate them on my pc regardless .for me i emulate pokemon games there over priced or xenosaga ep 3 or tenchaichy 3 dbz and fire emblem series are over priced on gb gba and gamecube and wii ones too much . also zelda on wii u the remakes over priced at 200 plus i just emulate the wii u remakes and i only emulate it for xenoblade chronicles x that went up in price other rare wii u games
It's great that you grew up with ratchet, sly, and jak! Emulation does help the preservation of video games, but some people can take it too far. It's especially understandable when some games are so expensive, like pokemon games.
