Miyazaki did say Limgrave but a bit bigger. Not exactly the same as Limgrave. I also think he considered Siofra as "within" Limgrave because it's just an elevator going down
So I've heard so far that it's lime grave plus weeping plus cailed and Liurnia all put together but stacked on top of each other

30 hours was how long it took for me to go through the entirety of limgrave, weeping peninsula, liurnia and the available underground sections early on. You are Saying SOTET is even denser as well? Definitely in for a treat.

I really appreciated how you compared the size of the dlc, not as the size of Limgrave, but rather, bigger than the Ringed City and Ariandel..for me, I can visualize better just how big this new add on will be. Thank you Rurikhan for your content, but as usual I won't watch any of it until, I've done my own playthrough of it. Just making sure you know, there are probably a lot of people like me here in the soulsbourne/monster hunter community. Who prefer going through their own pace and after they've had their fill, start watching their favorite youtubers for their content.
I'm the same way most of the time. It's why I never watch a game I'm interested in on stream or RUclips until I'm already done my play through.
30-40 hours of content for me is well worth the price. I can't wait.

So glad I played base Elden Ring on a whim, what a gem. Going to get this for sure, play it for a bit then over to DawnTrail until I have my fill. Second half of 2024 seems to be secure. Nintendo had a TON of RPGs in it's showcase today which made me happy.
Ha, good to hear about quests, I'm incapable of doing Soulsbourne quests without messing something up in often ridiculous fashion (last ER run through Millicent was eaten by a giant dog clipping through the wall of Gowry's shack for instance). Maybe there is hope this time!

My biggest and only hope is that they add more gravity sorceries I only saw one singular new gravity spell and that worries me because that was my biggest hope
Supposedly there's at least 12 new sorceries. Don't know how many are gravity spells though.
I was so wrapped up in Monster Hunter Wilds news I completely forgot Shadow of the Erdtree was releasing so soon.

I'm kind of interested on getting this, but I never finished the base game. I wonder why.
I definitely did like the game, because I wouldn't have attempted to do 3 playthroughs if I didn't.
But for some reason after ~30-40 hour mark on each playthrough I just moved on to different games.
I really need to wrap up at least one of those playthroughs, so that I can try this DLC, because as I said I do like this game.
I'm enjoying this dlc. I get some boss complaints with camera problems or hyper aggressiveness, but there is always a way!!
The small dungeons improvement thing is huge for me, one of the main criticisms of base game.

As excited as I am for the content, story, and everything else this will have to offer, I'm mostly really excited to just have new gear. One of my only complaints from the original game is that a LOT of the gear just looks kind of shabby, rusted, or in a state of disrepair. And I get that a lot of the stuff in the game SHOULD look that way due the nature of the world. But after multiple playthroughs, the reality is there are only a couple of sets I generally look forward to and use. I am excited to have options to change it up (haven't looked into much of what's there, but I've seen enough in screenshots and thumbnails to know there's going to be enough to it.
Just imagine what the convergence mod will do to this new area of the game!
After exploring the majority of the areas in the DLC, I hope someone will make a mod to remove the fog so I can see what some areas would look like from up above without the fog. This was definitely bigger than what the map implied due to the verticality and I couldn't really complain that it took me 20+ hours already and there are still some areas I could not explore

Struggling with this one. I never do NG+ or buy DLC but Elden Ring is a completely different beast. I started NG+ with my character until I got bored and didn't pick it back up.
Now I have to either make a new character and run him through the game to play the DLC or progress my NG+ character to the point they are able to enter the DLC.
It feels daunting enough I may just live vicariously through your channel and watch a play through.
Trust me it’ll be okay to play it on NG+. That’s exactly what happened to me and I decided to play it on NG+ and it’s been just fine
Making the "mini sequel" to Elden Ring as a big, and relatively expensive, DLC is a pretty good idea. The devs can reuse the same engine as is, while concentrating on just making new content.

Ty for that fair review👍 so you confirm you can’t ng+ the dlc without ng+ the base game 😩 bummer but it is what it is. Other reviews talk about some perf issues with the game kinda freezing for few seconds on several different gear. You did not experience that?
I had a few freezes but very sporadic, like maybe 4-5 times through my nearly 30 hours.

Just beat the DLC today. Well, I say beat, but I still have lots to do. Fromsoft went above and beyond to make this the best game ever. Can't wait to test all the new goodies on the main game bosses.

I'm wondering can we expect some minor improvements to base game as well? Does the game supports ultrawide resolution now? Is character respec going to be unlimited or are we just going to encounter new Larval Tears in DLC?
can someone/you tell me whether we know if we start it on a NG character will it matter? I have a character which is about 150 but not my favourite and I have more gear etc. levelled up on my ng+ 2 character...which would be recommended to use? I don't want it to really be even harder than "first time" DLC run through would be...if that makes sense...
Having so much time in the DLC, are there any things that you would recommend people do in preparation for it? Buying smithing stones, etc, or anything like that?
I mean, as long as you have them unlocked to purchase, I don't think there is much of a point. An exception might be the +10 and +25 stones, if they are still limited and you are on a fresh save, probably hold on to them for the new weapons, but I bet they will sprinkle some of those as well or even make them farmable/purchasable?

I was on journey 20 (so ng+7 difficulty) on my lv500 character, has fullgoat armour, dragon crest greatshield talisman and pearldrake talisman - I get 2-3shot

Really wish they add a way to start the DLC with a new character from the main menu, kinda like how Witcher 3 does. I could really use a more condensed version of Elder Ring without having to do any of the main game's bloat.
I went in as ng+3… made no difference till I got the new upgrade materials. Plus, I’m bad at the game 👍

Imo dlc progression is what souls progression should have always been. A one item improves damage/health instead of collecting upgrade materials.
Idk how ur time is 30 hrs total dude? I feel like even u and cowboy were under selling the hours lol. Bcs I'm at 27 hrs and I only fight 2 remembrance bosses and I am in the plateau right now almost done exploring before that giant legacy don in the area . And out of those 27 hours, I would say three of those were stuck at a boss you both must've really missed out on a lot of content
Maybe you guys are saying 30 hours to beeline story alone. Bcs for context every map im on which I only got 2 map fragments so far I literally take a every route possible and its a lot and up and down and etc

REALLY happy to hear about the mini dungeons. They got extremely repetitive in the main game, and they weren't very interesting. Not thrilled about the reuse of enemies from the base game though. Looks like a lot of them are returning.
It's a 40+ hour expansion to the base game. Ofc there would be returning enemies. Big open worlds like this don't get made with 100% unique enemies at all times. Just how the trade off works.
Yeah the catacombs and the other small dungeons are easily the worst part of the game. Very excited about the new forge dungeons

@@colinclement2752 ok im not the best atyping {dyslexia} but here goes lol I did not find it hard at all i found it incredibly unbalanced 90% of enermies i encounterd including the 5 boss`s i sluaghterd where simply uninspired and too easy then the occasionl super NPC that didnt take stagger damge or use poise mechanics would spam battle me at high chance of death so many rekins of of boss`s they looked very different but if you removed the models and just added a blob to represent the hitboxes and spam attacks all the boss`s would look the same and then the ! next is the new progression system its very linear and reminds me of sekiro but this is not sekiro and dose not have sekiros combat so all nuinece of interesting builds is out the window and you basicly need a DLC weapon with the new more spammeble ashes of war and get the new spirt ash to make you tougher and hit harder so you can out dps enermies with spam rather then out play them! next is exploration: I will admit each area looked amazing like a painting but the game play loop was ride around every ledge looking for away down ! and top this all of with horrivle performance i went from elden ring on max setting to the dlc on lowest settings and was still unplayable at points i would littirally have to spam buttons sometimes to counter graphical lag lol
@@ANHR1 Well i dont type well so bare with me {dyselxia} and i allready typed all this once and youtube had a error so my response y pop up twice lol but here goes = I would nnot say game wasxs hard at all infact in many ways it was too easy i slaughterd 99 % of mobs i came across and killed 5 bosses first attempt and then there was a occasional random NPC that would not use stagger mechanics or poise and just blitz me while jumping around so much it brakes the horrible lock on camera and it becomes a spam battle to win very unfun. next is the progression system its basicly like sekiro with flat leveling system in the spirit ash`s and the dlc weapons have a more spamm centric ashes of war all { the game has non of the combat of sekiro lol} so all the nuince from souls games is lost lol next is exploration while each area looks like a beautiful painting exploration consists of riding around every ledge looking for a way to get down or finding a building with a locked door super boring in a boring land where you are 1 shotting most things ! then if you took boss design removed the graphical model and added a blob to represent hitboxes all boss`d are identical spam lol the amount of reskin`d reused assets here is so insane it hurts my brain ! and to top it all of the performance is so bad i went from max settings in base game to lowest settings in dlc and was still dropping frames so hard it would miss button imputs i made sometimes !
I guess I'll skip the DLC. I'm not really feeling Elden Ring anymore. Decided to give the game another go after uninstalling it 2 years ago (with 100% Achievements already done), but I was quickly reminded why I did uninstall it back then. I had way more fun with Another Crab's Treasure than I ever had with Elden Ring. Maybe I'll finish Sekiro instead *shrug*

@@Jbswe I got stuck at Sekiro's final story boss, but got distracted by Sunbreak's Velkhana update, and then I never came back to it. But even though I completed Elden Ring to 100%, I had more fun with Sekiro overall, which is easily my favorite FromSoft game in terms of combat and general mechanics/movement. From the games I've played, it would be Sekiro > DS 1 > DS 3 > Elden Ring > DS 2. I've more or less forced myself to do the 100% in Elden Ring and burnt myself out completely; so much that I can feel this burnout even 26 months after uninstalling it. I'm just not having fun with this anymore :/
And Another Crab's Treasure was a surprise hit for me this year. Can't wait for it to get its own DLC, NG+ and other cool updates.
@@KitsuLeif I mean it’s understandable cause it’s so long and probably more time on first playthrough then sekiro ds3 and ds1 combined but I find it crazy how you can be a fan of these games and not want to play this I almost don’t believe you won’t play it, the weapons look amazing and the exploration in the map seems so cool and a lot better then the base game. Ds3 is carried by boss fights it is in no way better then Elden ring I have beat it multiple times and never want to play it again the levels are so mid besides a few
@@Jbswe That's the thing, except for Ruri's spoilerfree review, I haven't looked at anything from the DLC. Like I said, I felt like I was done with the base game over two years ago, and while I was initially hyped when they announced they were working on the DLC in February 2023, the hype has worn off by now, and I feel like it's way too late now to get me back into the game again. I've started a new game for 1 1/2 hours today and decided that I wasn't really feeling it anymore after all this time. It just felt tedious.
I've only gotten into the games in late 2020 with DS Remastered on the Switch. Since then, I've played through everything I had access to (no PS3/4/5, so no Demon Souls and Bloodborne for me). And while I got Elden Ring on release and played through it within two or three weeks, the only boss fight I have fond memories of is the Regal Ancestry Spirit. But that alone isn't enough for me to replay the whole game again just for unlocking the DLC. And it was only after Elden Ring that I tried Sekiro, and I fell in love with it.
But to be fair, I never finished the DS2 and DS3 DLCs either, both games I abandoned in one of their DLC areas. The only one I actually finished was the DLC portion of DS1.
Doesn't mean I'm not a fan of the games, I'm just bad at actually finishing them, because I lose interest on the last 5-10%.

From hours 0-50 I never wanted this game to end. From 50-100 it was the greatest game I ever played. From 100-150 I became so insanely annoyed by the double this enemy type or give that enemy projectiles formula I took a break. I came back and From hours 150 -180 I swore I would never ever go back to this game. The breaking up a 1 shot into mutliple attacks that shock you through the controller every time becaame unbearable, I could literally platinum it and I refuse. I hope all you masochist get your fix lol. Honestly enjoy.
The game wasn’t bad until leyndell. Everything after that just happened to combo me to death.
