Also for anybody starting out on a new Android phone, ALWAYS move your SIM card over first before doing the initial startup or transferring data. Samsung phones automatically erase the entire phone when it detects a new SIM card, so if you transfer over all your data then input the SIM card, it will erase everything and you will have to redo the whole process again. You cant install smartswitch without setting up an acct, which requires a credit card. I dont want to give them a credit card number. Also the old sim card will not fit in the new phone
After doing the setup and smart switch from my gaaxy s20 ultra 5g over to my new galaxy s22ultra , I have to go back to each a and resign in right? Meaning username and password. What if I don't have all my passwords written down? Also wanna keep all my bookmarks? What do you think. Also excellent video!!!! Best one yet.
Great question. For Bookmarks if you used Chrome you can sync them to your Google account. For your accounts, yes you will need to sign back in. Some apps give you the option to sign in with your Google account so I would choose that option. If not, you will have to try to remember your username and password or you will need to use the reset password option.

Problem I have 2 active samsung phones in service and my newest 1 said I had 15 days to backup my old 1 so I started doing it on my newest phone despite both phones being in use. Now I stopped it because my texts are changing, fonts screen etc. I'm afraid the old data is transferring to my newest phone and deleting all my texts and call logs on my newest phone which happened last time I had 2 samsung phones. I use both phones and can't lose any texts on either phone. There's no option to backup texts on new phone. Now my newest phone has changed. I wasn't transferring data I was backing up to samsung cloud. It was hitting backup on samsung cloud. I never went to smartswitch which I disabled on my phone.

If you are not already using an Autofill app on your old phone, is there a way to retroactively do something on the old phone so one would not need to sign in and enter userid and password for every app on the new phone? I noticed that Google has a developer option that allows app developers to store credentials to Google drive but it appears only a very small percentage of the apps I have work in that fashion?

What if the new phone is the Xcover pro and it’s got a work profile installed with the “hub” restrictions? Wil it overwrite the knox lock and clone the old device? My old device is the Samsung Galaxy A11. So I’m wondering if I could do this and bypass any security blocks from knox and/or HUB ??

how do you transfer all the signed accounts from your old Samsung phone to a new one? you know in settings there an option called "accounts" The option does show in the smart switch but it doesn't transfer any accounts except Samsung and google, that too you have to end the credentials so whats the point of giving an option of accounts to transfer
I know this video is a year old, but I have a question about transferring the SIM card. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and about to transfer the data to a Galaxy Note 20 ultra. I've watched another one of your videos that states to insert the SIM card in the new phone AFTER the transfer of data. However, there is a comment below that states (not direct quote): to insert the SIM card BEFORE transferring data, because once the new SIM card is detected in the new phone Samsung erases the phone's data. I don't know which statement is true -I'm very reluctant to activate and transfer data to my new phone because of the fear of losing anything during the transfer. (By the way, Sprint is now T-Mobile - I think my SIM card is a T-Mobile one.) PLEASE HELP! Thanks in advance!
After many years I may have changed my preferred way to do this, and this has worked well for me, this is what I would do now. Take the SIM out of the Note 9 and place it in the Note 20 Ultra. Then turn on the Note 20 Ultra and during the setup do the Smart Switch transfer, setup email and whatever else you want to set up. Then when that completes your phone will be ready to go, and if you received any text messages while the transfer was going, they will all be on your new phone. Hope that helps!

Yes it usually transfers over my other Google accounts after I verify the first one. If they don't come over you can add them at the end of the transfer or later in the settings.
@TechWithBrett can u please give a sumsung account tutorial and see if the other google accounts are also there? There r other people who also have more than one google account, and I just want to make sure that the other google accounts go through, and hopefully, u won't have to sign to anything.
I've tried everything I can think of and they still won't connect! The old phone says to pull down from top and change the USB source but then it wants to transfer from the NEW phone to the OLD one. I'm at my wits end!

Yes you can use this method to move data from your phone to your tablet. I will be getting the Tab S7+ as well and plan to make a video of some further ways they can link together.

At minute 6:58 says since was not able to put a micro sd card in the new phone that the old micro sd card data would get copied to the internal storage of the new phone instead. However, if I am able to put a new micro-sd card in the new phone, and I select this option, would it copy the old micro sd card data to the new micro sd card or would it default to the internal storage during the transfer?
If your new phone has a Micro SD card capability then you should not be concerned about coping what you have saved on the card. You can simply eject the card out of your old phone and insert it in the new phone so you are going to transfer or copy the stuff you have on the phone device only.
@@Revolutionized Would be true, except (I should have been more specific) the old phone's micro sd card support maximum limit is lower than the new phone's maximum supported limit and I got the newer/bigger card as a result to take advantage of that.
@@jasons7461 yes and please consider the fact that this is only one way of handling this as with cloud storage popularity, you could have at least one service like Google cloud (Google one), or Microsoft one drive or .... Dropbox etc. You can forget about SD card physically and have everything you need on the cloud 24/7 accessible to every device you permit.
Haha! I like to try out newer devices and since the Note 20 Ultra was too big and cost too much I wanted to give the Note 20 a chance because I like the size and the flat screen. So far it is working great.
@@TechWithBrett put you did not Note 20 enough internal storage to match you S10 Note. if you got Note 20 Ultra which supports microSD memory cards it would match the S10 Note storage since it supports microSD memory cards.

This is not true. Not sure where you are trying to get SmartSwitch. It is in the Galaxy Store.

Most of us don't have a USB-C to USB-C cord, so the wireless transfer is the only option.

When you do the transfer everything still stays on the old phone.
So I've got smart switch, but does that bring over all my apps especially my pintrest which I have so much saved?
It will just bring over the app, you will need to sign into your account to see all your pins.

When doing it wireless it will turn on the WiFi and make a connection between the two phones and stop using your home wifi until the transfer is done.

Haha! I like to try out newer devices and since the Note 20 Ultra was too big and cost too much I wanted to give the Note 20 a chance because I like the size and the flat screen. So far it is working great.
@@TechWithBrett put you did not Note 20 enough internal storage to match you S10 Note. if you got Note 20 Ultra which supports microSD memory cards it would match the S10 Note storage since it supports microSD memory cards.
