  • Australian Olympic swimmer Cate Campbell grew up in an active, outdoorsy family; and as expected, has spent countless hours training in the sun.
Despite being a "pretty sun-safe person" generally, Cate's fair skin and multiple moles already put her at higher risk for developing skin cancer. And after a sombre lunch with a friend reminded her to get a skin check, she received a life-changing phone call.
Luckily, Cate's melanoma was caught very early, at Stage 1. After a minor surgery resulting in a big, beautiful scar, Cate is sharing her story to urge others to get their skin checked; and to advocate for sporting clubs to be more aware of the dangers of the sun.
“If we can’t go for prevention, then early detection is the next best thing." - Cate Campbell
