He did do good by the members. You think the union should have gave more concessions to the big three? If they did "maybe" less people would be laid off to-date but all those union workers would be making pre-pandemic income that wasn't keeping up with the rest of the economy and price hikes across the board. Either way it went, everyone outside of the auto industry would still be struggling with the inflation and not be buying vehicles like they were before the pandemic inflation hit. Tesla isn't a union shop and they just recently laid off 14,000 workers, citing the same cost reduction and productivity reasons that stellantis gave the press.

This is the tip of the iceberg we are seeing. 2 years ago someone could walk in with a pulse and would get financed. Now high interest rates, inflation, no savings.
Stellantis is being greedy . They would rather sell a lower number and make more profit per truck vs selling more and keeping the plants humming .. by reducing the prices and making less per unit. It's all about making big profits regardless of market share .. so the CEO's / executives can make more millions.. and bonuses.
The Union getting a 25% increase didn't help. They had to make thst up somewhere and wanted to pass the cost to the consumers. But not everyone is stupid enough to buy vehicles at these ridiculous prices.
Right! They don’t want to lose the extra profit they were used to making during the pandemic so instead of lowering prices even when the market demands it, they would rather not by looking at alternatives cost cutting options such as layoffs of their employees. This shows how big corporate greed has become these days.
Not to mention how bad that is for our economy and communities. They rather outsource jobs in India instead of paying workers decent wages. These workers bring money to communities but nope not anymore! Why should we support a company who is bad for the community? Not to mention less money in the economy means less people who can afford these vehicles. Hopefully stellantis gets what's coming. I would whole heartedly love to see them boycotted!
@@jordash9992 So when the cost to produce a vehicle goes up due to the union negotiating higher wages, what do you suppose the corporate bean counters do? Do they hire more people or do they compensate that cost by reducing their salary costs?
Have you priced their vehicles, even with current $10,000 discounts they are out of reach. And they don't make sedans or small vehicles. Everything is expensive and big. Yep, more cuts coming.
$10k off discounts used to be fairly attractive in 2019 but because of the very high price hikes of today, they need to offer at least $20k off if they want to generate any real consistent interest. Otherwise sales & market share will continue to fall.
I mean the wagoneer is a really nice vehicle but any would think about buying a vehicle that large and luxurious would rather pay that amount for a vehicle that doesn't have the jeep nameplate on it. Now the workers at the VW plant in Tennessee will get to experience this UAW win as well. Shawn Fain...what a charlatan. Stand up and hit the unemployment line!
The real reason that they are going to lay off people is because there are not selling no trucks overseas everything's been put on hold over here and plus the economy it's very slow people are not really buying new things
It’s the 10 to 1 rule… for every 10 workers laid off, their workload is shifted to 1 remaining worker. Allowing executives to maintain their bonuses… in double speak, often referred to as company profitability.
The description says 400 salary workers but the report says 199 factory workers. Is it in both areas or just the one? This is a confusing report or maybe I'm not understanding something.

not too many working class people can afford a truck that starts off at 50K$... yea, they advertise a truck that has NOTHING for 38K, but most dealers load up the trucks and they average starting around 50K and goes upto 90K...
Stellantis on average raised their MSRPs by about 50% since 2019 despite inflation being only 22%. What is the extra 28% in price increase is supposed to represent? Did the benefits & quality of their products grew significantly since 2019? We don’t see it! From a customer perspective, there is no substantial added value there to justify the steep price increases. This is why Stellantis has lost 10% in sales last year while simultaneously losing overall market share due to pandemic induced corporate greed.
same comment as many others, sales has changed to lower sales with higher prices vs lower prices with more sales, demand is not going to shift to the new anytime soon

@billyhorton5779 Ford is the only one who didn't take a bailout, because they already got a massive loan from the government before the bailout. And guess who is the only one who never paid the government back the money yet? That's right it's Ford 😂
Yes, it a long downhill ride to being out of business .
Listening to the unions. Now look at ya.🤔
That is the truth. Not that they didn't have raises coming but what did the auto union workers expect to happen when they got there new contract. Listening to Joe B should have been the biggest red flag.
Easy to blame the workers...Management executives were gorging on nosebleed level pricing but nobody has that kind of cash. Hence sales drop. If Stellantis wants to cut personnel chop from the top.
How dare they want to make a living wage.
@ReedClint well now they get to enjoy no wages.😂
@@Numba1hunna83 I'd rather be in a union with some protection than at will. Even if laid off, the union contract provides a lot more benefit than not having one.

The irony is that if there were not a UAW they would probably still be working.
They aren't uaw.
This is not a suprise….they should have seen this coming. Stellantis does care about American Employees.
Neither does the UAW.

Your anger should be towards the company cause theyre the ones profiting hundreds of thousands of dollars off one employee per a year while union leaders get hundreds a year.
@@gordonwardhaugh8266 NONE There will be no union bosses laid off because their job is to leach off the union dues.
Whole automotive industry about to loose some jobs. Inflation and high interest rates are hurting everybody.
As a UAW retiree & union member since '63, some things never change. Back in the day when negotiating we were told "Look, here's X dollars for pay increases & bennies, that's it. Divvy it up however you guys see fit". The union knew exactly what was going to happen but what not share it with the members. All they cared about was approve the contract & we'll see you when the new contract expires.
For this out of world MSRP do you get free maintenance, a loaner WHEN the vehicle needs extended stay with the dealership, does increased quality come with the price? No to all questions.
Great news. These are the same UAW moochers demanding a 40% pay raise for a 4 day workweek.

Your right, its not their only trim level. They start at $50.000 out the door. And that explains why a truck will sit 150 days before it sells, maybe.
We all know who to blame for prices these days...
Dump printing $7.8 trillion to the deficit causing inflation!
That "expert" car analyst failed to mention the real cause for these slow sales numbers, Stellantis hiked prices by over 50% since 2019. They dug themselves into this pit.
How about instead of firing employees you lower prices and sell more?! Genius
EPA regulations need to be changed so that they can make small pickups again. These land barges have gotten ridiculous.
You wanted a new contract, you got it!
Nobody can afford these vehicles anymore prices are ridiculous
I’m retired now and have been laid-off 5 times in my life from differing industries. Get use to it. This has been going on for decades.
Thanks Shawn! Ya done good! All the union members told me so in the youtube comments section while the strike was going on!
@@killer2600 Their PRE PANDEMIC income was the highest of any manufacturing non skilled labor job in the USA!
The absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. I bought a brand new Dodge Charger Daytona several years ago and went through hell with it. This company and its service departments treats its customers horribly.
Brand name loyalty? Really? When one of these Trucks can set you back 80 to 100k? Don't get me started with reliable. Even fixing these junker cost an arm and leg. You people needs your head checked. Really.
@@hgonz14those 25% wage increases only add 900 more to vehicles made. I think that's not where the real issues lie.
Just wait! The more the auto companies unionize the less workers there will be......
Likely more layoffs. Just like what's happening at fast food restaurants in CA. Layoffs.
@@dancarlton7973 Yup...
That strike really helped those union members….like nobody saw this coming
Nothing to do with workers wages since they only make up 5% of the cost of producing a vehicle. Maybe try looking at where all the money is going.
Honda is having their woes as well. Sad. But Stealerships are still being Greedy everywhere. $101k for a Jeep Wagoneer? I saw a while back! Ridiculous
That is why those wagoneers don't sell, and the dealers can't give them away.
I mean the wagoneer is a really nice vehicle but any would think about buying a vehicle that large and luxurious would rather pay that amount for a vehicle that doesn't have the jeep nameplate on it. Its seriously common sense it should be a Chrysler branded vehicle. Chrysler doesn't even have a vehicle remotely close to it so this market strategy is seriously faulty
You know the US economy is struggling if Honda is struggling right now. Wild times.
Honestly theres almost no help in hell for ram, jeep and Chrysler at this point unless they have a plan like Lee Iaccoca did in the 80s

Its not just fighting for wages it's fighting against corporate greed.

They're gonna regret it, Fain's nothing but a 🐍🐍
Problem is their vehicles are way too expensive... they would sell if the prices were realistic.
The real reason that they are going to lay off people is because there are not selling no trucks overseas everything's been put on hold over here and plus the economy it's very slow people are not really buying new things
High interest rates no one can afford to repay 100k in loans with 7% interest
Strikes have consequences 😮.
How about them strikes? Why not strike again? Oh wait you're fired!!
It’s the 10 to 1 rule… for every 10 workers laid off, their workload is shifted to 1 remaining worker. Allowing executives to maintain their bonuses… in double speak, often referred to as company profitability.
