Your guest is a smart guy. I learned one thing that his presence in Geo when it was in infancy helped him to meet the top CEOs in Musharraf time. Musharraf time was post 9/11 time best time for Pakistan economy. He was in the right place in the right time. But he continued his passion and he is what he is today. Young entrepreneurs must see this vlog.

This has been one of the most insightful episode of TBT. Loved every second of it. Finally, someone is talking about change, reforms, and solutions rather than just throwing shade at each other.

The broadcasts on this channel accompany me during my gym workouts. Two highly productive hours are dedicated to both mental and physical well-being.
One feedback is that I'm more interested in the general discussions where ideas are exchanged, rather than the personalized anecdotes. Unless there's a universal takeaway from personal experiences, it's hard for many to connect since everyone's journey differs greatly. Individual pathways are influenced by various unique factors that have limited correlation with others.
Furthermore, I want to express my admiration for Muzzamil's effort in raising awareness about advanced topics in such a thorough manner. I wholeheartedly support this kind of content. I hope more people tune in to these broadcasts and expand their thinking. Thank you once again for providing such an exceptional service to the public. God bless you!

Junaid is spot on! It’s the problem with stakeholders (not to forget) the biggest real estate stakeholders ;)
As a tax consultant (Canada based), in my opinion, if we really want to fix Taxes in Pakistan, we must do the following:
    1. We need a new independent Tax agency
    2. To design and run this agency import professionals from foreign countries (US, Canada, Europe etc) where there are effective tax regimes/systems in place. These professionals have experience and understanding of how tax systems work. I have to say that in Pakistan 80% of tax professionals don’t even understand the tax lifecycles (not because they are incompetent, but they have never experienced a full tax regime/system in their everyday life).
    3. Technology; only technology can handle this massive tax regime implementation and establishment. Less people more technology. People trust in technology more than humans.
    4. More localized taxes. Province/city
    5. Lower tax rates, flat tax rates in the beginning, no non-filers, self-tax assessment filing, some direct incentive to every citizen who files a tax return (e.g, health card is a very good incentive).
    6. Transparency on tax collection and spending.
Generally people want to comply (file and pay taxes), but the state needs to give them respect in return.
Lastly, the state has to accept a fact, that if they want direct taxes, they will have to stand answerable to the tax payers.
Otherwise, only loans and indirect tax - as we are right now. I apologize for the long comment, since its my profession - couldn’t help myself 😊 Keep up the good work.

I was in California on 9/11 and saw the 2nd plane hit live on TV. That night, there were cars/trucks out with American flags honking. I was 20 years old and it was almost like 14th August. I had come to the US in March of that year and wore shalwar qameez occasionally on campus. After 9/11, that was all gone.
I totally understand what he is saying. America was so much better for us, and perhaps everyone, before 9/11. Everything changed on that day :(

Definitely want a round two. Muzammil bhai, I think, as mentioned, Pakistan has all the resources and the required ingredients i .e personnel, investors, technical experts but one, thing missing is the will to start because its pretty clear that perks and privileges availed by many would be compromised and that would result in a political hit. Idts it would be achieved anytime soon and i really wish we hear and have more and more of such sound intellectual conversation.

What to expect from Pakistanis? The propaganda injection is so deep that from the last 75 years it's not going anywhere. Moreover they even don't know what is there in the UN. Their army itself illegally occuping the their Kashmir. They even passed cpec through it which is a clear violation of international law because it's a disputed territory. So we don't expect much from them.

Pakistan's economic problems are symptoms of its geopolitical problems. Pakistanis will never prosper until they fight for independence from Pakistani Generals and the Anglo-$axons and switch sides in the Great Game.
200 years ago 5,000 British soldiers along with 12,000 sepoys crossed the Indus River and entered Afghanistan and carried out regime change by overthrowing King Dost Khan of Afghanistan in an unprovoked act of aggression. The British Empire feared King Dost Khan may form diplomatic relations with the Czar of Russia to help Afghanistan restore its lost empire in the Indus valley. The Royal Grand Indus Army that owns, occupies and ru(i)ns Pakistan maintains Britain's imperial legacy and enforces British foreign policy in Afghanistan and Indus valley for a fistful of $$$. The Great Game or Ghazwa-e-Rus.

However, this is one suggestion. You often cut the guest with one of your looooong questions. Eg at 1:20:00 he was about to give solutions to the problem but you interrupted him with a different question. He might've thought of different points in his head at that time but your interruption might've caused him to forget about those points.. Just a friendly suggestion. Overall I'm a big fan. Cheers!
