Yep. It's not that they forgot to turn off the mic, they never do. Brent usually opts to sing a harmony or an octave lower. But he always sings really quietly and that makes it worse because if you notice it's playback you really feel like they're trying to deceive you. It's sad as you say. He has an amazing voice but everyone's got their limits. In the studio songs are recorded line by line so he has infinite tries and as much time as he wants to rest between lines and nail it. These songs just don't work live. But one thing I don't get is why he doesn't just sing a lower melody while the others support him. They have three amazing singers, they could surely arrange something like that. Sometimes you can hear them do it when they play Sound Of Madness and it sounds good. Not like the recording, but at least you can hear them sing.

I had never heard of Shinedown until I was like 52. How that is possible I do not know. This was the first song of theirs I heard, and I was blown away. With every new song I heard by them, I grew more and more obsessed. They are coming to Ocean City (MD) Bikefest in September, and I bought tickets immediately when they announced it. Now I have to wait, which I profoundly suck at. 😬 #shinedown

@@sonikku997 The main problem is the lower harmony he was singing was completely off key. So it sounded jarring.
It's not fake. You can hear him and the back up vocals are live imperfections and all. Not fake.
