  • bit.ly/SwampCoolersFAQ Evaporative coolers (aka swamp coolers) are alternatives to traditional portable air conditioners. They consume less energy than traditional ACs, since they use the natural power of evaporation to cool your space. This video explains how swamp coolers work, and explains environmental conditions when evaporative coolers would be the best cooling solutions.

Depending on your attic, evaporative coolers can be used for this application. You need to make sure the humidity level is low (below 45%) and there is a fresh air source available. If so, then you can use this cooler. If not, you may want to consider another cooling source. Sylvane's customer service team can give a personal consultation at 1-800-9349194.

      I cannot help but disagree.
I am an expat living in Lima, Peru. It is a costal deswrt with high humidity year round (90%) yet rarely rains and only then it drizzles.
It never gets hot enough to need A/C, but we use these swamp coolers all over.
It is the summer now (in the southern Hemisphere - Jan. 2020) and it gets to about 82-87 degrees.
We have three of these portable air coolers. One for me, anither for my wife when she often works on her masters, and one for our pet rabbits which really need it to stay cool, but not too cool.
You should see how they gather round to lay in front of it on days like today.
I really don't get why it is said they don't work well. You can feel the difference.

This is likely an issue with your specific model. Referring to your owner's manual or contacting the manufacturer who created your product is likely your best bet. Depending on how your specific model is designed, you may not be able to see the process as easily as on other evaporative coolers - if it's adequately cooling your space, it may be working just fine.

This is just a big ole fan. The room does not get cooler. You must sit in front of it to be cooled off. And when you open the door for the air to circulate, all you get is hot air blowing all around. So if you are okay being stuck in one spot, it's great.

A R lol they are suppose to cool outdoor air coming into house/establishment!?
(These are not whole house designed!?) so I'm a little off target on purpose of door opening....
Crack a window.... not jus open a door while it runs near by on the floor?!
Long time ago, was used at laundry mats! Air came in from the ceiling(swamp cooler on roof blowing air down inside) with the entrance doors & windows cracked(blowing air out of the building!
Someone has the wrong concept of how these worked from long time ago?!
Mayb place in front windows & crack open back windows for cross breeze affect!?
Anyway if it's humid like in Georgia! Texas? This may not work above 85 degrees outside?! When it's hot it's hot!!!
U can warm winter air many different ways :wood/fireplace steam electric/ heat pumps gas furnace etc....
But you can't extreme cool air without an air conditioner!!!!!
That's compressed refrigeration circulation with powered blower motored air!
U can cheat for a while with a set up & bag(s) of ice.... but you'll have to replenish with another bag of ice to stay cool...
Question is how long will the ice (chilled water & ice)last?!

    • @chrisquick7160
      @chrisquick7160 4 года назад +4

I have a house one and it works decent if you crack a window. That's because it's bringing outside air to the inside and it needs am escape route so it doesn't get muggy inside. The positive pressure inside the house prevents air from entering through the window. Idk how the portable ones work though as far as that, but you are right, standing right in front of one is great. :)

Humid air causes more discomfort than dry air *at the same temperature.* Sweating is basically evaporative cooling, evaporating sweat makes the air humid but your body is cool, evaporative coolers are basically offloading that task (cooling your body through sweat) to that machine.

    • @d0nj03

@@d0nj03 Hahaha, that's funny but sorry, that's stupid also. Actually, evaporative coolers are more efficient than our sweating, because machines are active (they use fans), while sweating is passive (relying on convection). At the same temperatures and humidity, evaporative coolers will beat our sweating. And also, we don't need to use energy in order to sweat, we offload that to that machine.
