Adjustable Tool Storage Plans - bit.ly/3J7EaaV
I think I finally nailed the drill and driver storage in my shop with this cool "adjustable" solution mounted under my cabinets. It's such a simple concept I'm actually mad at myself for not thinking of it earlier. Each hanger is held in place by (2) bolts that ride inside of some parallel T-Track. When I'm happy with the position I simply tighten it down in place.
I think this adjustable concept can apply in so many areas around your shop! What ideas do you have for this? Let me know in the comments below.

As an unsolicited suggestion, and in theme with Shop Greatness, maybe consider replacing the wing nuts with some sleeker 3d printed knobs that have a recess to accommodate the appropriate-sized hex nut. Truly awesome work, as always, love your channel!

A tip is to hang the tools up side down. I know some dont like to grab them like that but the advantage is that the batteries on all tools on same brand is the same thus the holder will be the same :) And when it comes to the charges you need to have ventilation. The batteries do get warm and if you got fast chargers you could easily run into thermal issues like the charger stops charging or in worst case thermal run-away. Just a side note :) With that said protecting electronics from dust is always great to do. I have mine mounted under a cabinet thus not so much is going there.

My thoughts as well. Being in Phoenix, heat is a real concern for me. :) I think a vent toward the top of the back side would take care of that though. Cut a slot, place a screen over it. but paint it black (Cyberspace) first so it will look like an accent.

That was my concern also (heat in an enclosed charging compartment). How about adding a small PC air intake fan with a good pre-filter and an exhaust louver. You could 3D print both the filter housing and louver as well.

Beautiful build and design! Clever way to get seamless angles for charger cover. Love the round smooth edges of dividers. A few thoughts though:
    1) Have you considered a mechanism to limit how far the charger cover can fall open, as a safeguard preventing it from free falling open should it slip out of your hands?
    2) It seems like it would be a little challenging to remember which tool went in to which slot since the slots vary in width. Since building this have you found yourself having to label them?
    3) Wondering if there might be a better slot divider locking design using a single thumb screw in front rather than to under cabinet wingnuts for each?
I’ll take a stab at explaining one idea to consider for the slot dividers. Instead of 2 T-tracks to hold a divider, use two strips of French cleats mounted under cabinet with the angled openings facing to the rear. Each divider would have opposing French cleats. The front of each divider would have a 90° piece of material (roundover edges) attached with a single thumb screw that applies pressure pulling the divider forward, thereby squeezing the opposing French cleats together. Apply wax to the cleats. Simply slightly loosen front thumb screw to slide the dividers to adjust spacing.

My problem would be remembering which slot was which tool, since they have to go in the spot they were adjusted for. Some labels along the top would help.
And it's already been said by many others, but I would worry about heat from the chargers as well. A computer fan with a filter and an exhaust hole with a filter on the other side would help.

Here is an idea you just gave me. Make the battery hangers directly connected the battery terminals. Take the leads and plug into a 4 or 8 terminal relay board. It the input of the relays directly to the charger using whatever rig you want (adapter, soldering). I would have a way to monitor input current and switch between batteries using the relay board to charge them up. Turns a single charger into a 4 or 8 battery charger. Great video!

I didn't comb through all the previous comments (did take a quick look though) sorry if this is a duplicate.. Others mentioned an exhaust fan and filter to help keep the enclosure cool. More importantly though is the need to limit the charge time with older batteries/ chargers. Many new systems have a self-limiting circuitry to guard against over-charging and overheating/fire. Not so much with the older versions (like mine). I would suggest adding a timer that will automatically turn the chargers off after 3-4 hours. That way, if you forget to turn them off when you leave the shop, they will tend to themselves.

Travis, as an original follower of your RUclips Channel and a retired engineer with a just "a little" woodworking and metal & welding fabrication expertise -> excellent video project production and resultant ShopNation deliverables. One additional enclosed charging station requirement you may want to post-video communicate to your followers is the need to possibly address or design mitigate is to dissapate the considerable charger and battery heat generation during charger. As an example, my Makita chargers have fans to dissapate heat. If you don't you may impact the longevity of your charger and possibly the batteries. Your design which provides the viewable opening charger top door would or does address this, whereby a person may need to keep it open during charging to alleviate the charging heat. Otherwise, a great pat on the back to you for another fantastic shop project video !!! Wyo-up (Cowboy Up) to you. Jim, Retired Petrolem & Renewable Energy Program Engineer.

That hanger is great! Nice job. The charger box leaves me with concern over heat. All chargers have vents on them to dissipate heat from the charging process. (They wouldn't have vents if they didn't get hot.) This box looks like it provides no ventilation to vent that heat out. Maybe that heat is negligible, or maybe not. It's food for thought though.

Just some thoughts... First off, instead of building an entirely new system for adjustability, I would have fired up my hot air gun to modify the PVC holders that need to have their slots opened up a bit. I've used the hot air gun on PVC for many different needs - it's versatile and easy to work with. I get that your new system is infinitely adjustable, but I'm guessing that once you've determined how you want to arrange tools in their holders it will pretty much be a static system without further need for adjustment. If it did, the PVC can be manipulated again in a matter of minutes. I would only have used wingnuts for a couple months until you were happy with the arrangement, then swapped those out for Nyloc nuts. You could even start with Nylocs and adjust them so that the holders could be moved with a little pursuasion but basically stay in place for the time being (or install small springs under the nuts to retain tension but allow you to pull the holder downwards to shift position). Next, as several others have mentioned, I'd have installed some sort of heat dissipation system for the charging station - maybe holes in the bottom and holes in the rearmost side with something blocking the holes to allow airflor but prevent dust from getting in (old Covid masks stapled on the inside?). Finally, I get that this is totally subjective, but your choice of black in your shop not only makes the entire shop somewhat negative and not very welcoming or happy, but all the non-reflective surfaces decrease available light and visibility of everything painted that color. As you've already probably found out, wood dust (however much you try to eliminate it from your shop) stands out on a black surface worse than any other color. Sorry! ;-) One further thing - did you lock the chargers in position so you could remove batteries withing having to hold onto the chargers?

I used a Tripp Lite 7 outlet eco surge for my chargers. Each outlet has an on/off switch, so I don't have to unplug and can turn on when needed.
