- I took a $50 flight over the mountains of North Pakistan on PIA - Pakistans (infamous) national airline. Only after I booked my flight did someone tell me about all the scandals that PIA has gone through, not to mention they're banned from operating flights in the EU?
luckily I arrived in Chitral, the gateway to Kalash Valley, in one piece and was able to explore the mountain town. Getting ready for 3 days living with the Kalashi people in Rumbur village.

have you flown PIA before? Should I trust it?

I guess there's nothing wrong with PIA technically or the skill of their pilots, it's only that they tend to be lax and break rules abroad (especially in the West) and end up blacklisted there. They are still the major national airlines inside of Pakistan and most people trust them in the country. Whenever I visit my family back home, I also use PIA within the country. But if I'm traveling internationally, long-haul, I'd rather go with Emirates or Qatar or one of those airlines.
The reason for the ban was a political scandal, a political leader who was in power at the time said that the licence of the pilots are fake, etc. That's why it became a ban. Passing a flight test is one of the hardest things in Pakistan. PIA had the best pilots in the world that can land in any condition possible even in condition of war

PIA usually delay the flight or make changing in schedule, And you got a bad luck it could crash anyway. Btw I'm from chitral, I'm chitrali. You need a guide from Pakistan so that he knows multiple languages of Pakistan and shows u around every place moving alone without any vehicle in cities is tough

The snow covered mountain peak which visible from the airport and the bazar is "Terichmir" which 33 highest mountain peak in the world.And it is considered the most dangerous peak to climb.By the way thank u so much for exploring my beautiful chitral.

Theres a nice restauarant near the runway and the owner also owns a a great hotel called "The Hindukush Heights".You should spend a night there.Try getting invited to the owners house next door. Wotta place and wotta view! Chitral is in the KPK province.They are conservative people.When you go to Gilgit Baltistan it will be a better enviournment

Their local language is Pashto but the kids are speaking Urdu
Pashto isn't the local language in Chitral, they speak their own majority languages in their area, like Khwar, Shina etc

I am from chitral pashtu is not our language we have our own mother tongue which is called "khowar".The word "khowar" itself comes from the combination of two words "kho" which means "indigenous people" and "war" means "language". So khowar means "language of indigenous people"
