    Why would Pop be mad at him taking those threes? He's been doing it all year. Who do you think was coaching him to take that high volume?

      @Peroriperora День назад +10

      Taking Pop out of this general discussion, he has a mountain to climb first, spurs are secondary compared to his challenge. That being said, YES, this is an ORGANIZATION decision, and probably the cleverest move to accelerate Wemby’s progress AND prevent him from getting stupid injuries (knock on wood)… Only casuals don’t see it

      They haven't been watching Spurs post game interviews I guess

      @@Peroriperora they let him shoot these threes because he makes them in practice at a rate that allows for this freedom. They've been saying so all year. His attempts are never going down, because his percentages are steadily going up.
      His 3 point shot is a weapon that is #1 on every team's scouting report (something every opposing coach says in their pregame interviews)

      Not only has he been doing in year. He’s been doing it his whole basketball career. In France, What made him so popular? The one legged step back 3s. The fact that he’s a 7’4 guy that plays on the perimeter. The game against the GLeague before he was drafted he took 11 3s in that game. Now people act like this is new and want him to somehow transform into a different player.

      Because a 3 pointer from the logo (almost) from a 7'5 guy is UNGUARDABLE. Imagine he can knock em down like Curry? Why stop the kid????

    Wemby is a top 5 player already which is insane since he should be a junior in college…doesn’t even make sense how he’s good this fast

    He's been playing like this for about a month now.... I guess those who haven't watched him much were surprised by that Christmas showing. 50 % from the field, around 37 % from three and 90% from the line. He just took way more shots against the Knicks. He doesn't chase rebounds outside his area often, but if the ball is just above him, he'll get it over anyone, hence the 18 boards.
    He seems to be getting better by the week, which is exactly what happened last year too.

      That's the most terrifying thing about Wembanyama, the learning speed

    Coach Pop was the one who encouraged him to be more of a perimeter player this season. He said that Wemby is more of a perimeter player in one of his interviews before he went out indefinitely. And I think the Spurs are being smart about how they develop him. Wemby developing his jumper this early on in his career is less wear-and-tear to his knees in the long run. And with his current skinny frame, him camping out on the paint on both sides of the court for an 82-game season is risking him a lot to injuries. He’s already doing a lot for his team on the defensive end, so I can understand why the Spurs would want him to be more of a perimeter player on the offensive end even if it’s just for injury prevention. Also, him having a jumper and keeping the defense honest will open up the space for his teammates. The Spurs are also probably still waiting for his body to mature and gain more weight and strength. Wemby started out in October shooting 24% from 3-pt. In November, he shot 37% from 3-pt and currently in December, he’s shooting at 39%. His overall 3-pt% is 36%. His 3-pt shooting is definitely improving and he’s shooting it at a high clip, too. If Wemby develops into a 3-level scorer, he would be so formidable in the future. His midrange % improved, too. We have already seen what he can do on the post last season so why not use this season to develop the skills that currently still needs more work while waiting for his body to mature? The Spurs aren’t real contenders yet anyway, especially in the West. And his team needs more quality pieces around him before you can say they’re ready to contend for real.

    Thanks for covering the Spurs. They are getting better as the season goes on. Hopefully they can make the post-season. We'll see. As a grandpa, I agree that Victor is comparable to Wilt in the sense of how he dominates the floor. Of course they are different in their abilities - Wemby is taller, handles better, shoots better, and Wilt was faster, jumped higher, was stronger and more athletic - but both could dominate a game and put on a show.

    Chris Paul doing it again
    Every franchise he went became good
    The spurs lost 60 games the year before adding him now they are 16-15 and might have a winning record which is crazy

    Spurs haven’t been healthy started off with Devin out then sochan then tre jones and Stephon castle the same game not to mention there head coach for the past 2 decades hasn’t been with the team this team is impressive it’s crazy WEMBY TAKE OVR HAS STARTED 🔥

  • @eddydesir7702
    @eddydesir7702 День назад

    They will only get better as a team. Vassell has missed most of the season, is now back in the starting lineup. Sochan misses weeks with a thumb injury, Tre Jones missed a lot of the season. Castle and Julian will have to readajust to coming off the bench. Once they all mesh and get used to each other and being led by Victor i wouldnt be surprised to see the spurs a few games over .500 at the end of the season

  • @coachtimmeh6826

    Spurs have not been healthy. Sochan and Devin have both missed a month, so basically half the season. Last week was the first time they had their legitimate starting 5.
