I really respect your honest review of this Blackstone griddle. Most others don’t seem to highlight the details that you do and I can absolutely see what you’re talking about. Thank you for your candid review. I will definitely be subscribing to you.
Hey, I appreciate the kind words. And thank you for supporting the channel. I just wanted to point out the things I noticed and that I think will or could cause a problem. I don’t want people going out and spending their hard earned money on things with out knowing what they are getting. I believe it has room for improvement “ namely the single sad hinge” but all In all not a bad buy if the griddle coating itself will hold up. We just did another 5 day trip on it and so far still holding up and done everything I’ve needed and more “ used my oven on it again ”. I have two more trips coming up this month to cook on it even more.
Thank you for your review! I've been considering this griddle and have watched a ton of online reviews, and yours is the first one to include the actual dimensions and pros and cons. Most of the other online reviews simply rehash Blackstone's marketing materials.
It is a GREAT griddle for camping. It's not as heavy for travel and it basically just closes and you can go. I have a Members Mark that was heavy as all get out that this one replaced. I am not sorry....it works fantastic!
We are really liking it we just did another 5 days in the ozarks and used it, it worked great. Check out my other video where i paired it with the Coleman oven.
I just moved to Utah and am living in a casita with no stove or oven. I have an air fryer for the over part. I think this griddle will take care of the stove part. Plus I go camping a lot. Thanks for the review.
Thank you for review I was torn between this and the 17in. The aluminum drew me to get the 17in but still debating on getting it. I live in a dry area so not worried about the rust.
Why these campstoves don't use a hose to hook the bottle up is beyond me. It is a simple fix and would allow the person using it to place the bottle out of the way.
Great review! Just a suggestion, you and the griddle is in shadow and hard to see what you are pointing out and talking about. Just something to keep in mind for future videos. Semper Fi brother!
I agree with that dinky hinge lock and the wind hitting that solid lid like a boat sail. If that hinge lock/arm did happen to break, do you think the lid would open fully and lay flat without hurting the hinges?
@the crayonbrotherhood, great review! I'm torn between this version vs. the original tabletop griddle. I assume this would be easier to overland with (4Runner), but curious with cooking with the coated top vs the original, flavor difference with seasoning and long term use. Do they make an adapter for this grill to use a larger propane tank?
Ya used the original cast-iron top for about six months. And even covered and put up in my slide out drawer, I kept having to reseason the griddle top because the humidity the top would draw moisture and rust. I have to say I am concerned about how long the coating will last. I have a few small light scratches already, but not all the way through the coating. yes they make an adapter hose that will fit a bigger bottle, I carry a 5lb with me on my trips. I think I talk about it in this video, link below. I got it at Walmart if I remember correctly. ruclips.net/video/9rlmwiCen8Q/видео.htmlsi=DWaSGJ0uSbMeri8B
Just bought it too for working in the woods and fields to make a good lunch. Have you had any issue with the ignitor? Some reviews say they had lighting issues. Also going to use it for off roading with the side by side and the family.
I had an issue with my igniter. The wire was not connected to the button. Also the igniter needed to be bent slightly to get a good arc. Easy fix but should of been perfect out of the box.
Mine was hard to ignite out of the box. Had to finagle it a bit and it works ok now. Agree you shouldnt have to mess with it but i cant really complain too much for it being as cheap as it is
Sorry for taking so long to respond out on a trip. No you don’t have to season it at all. A little oil before cooking will help on cleaning up. And you have to use plastic or silicone cooking utensils to avoid scratches.
I’m going to pick up a bag for a 22” unit tomorrow. I bought the “leg kit”. I hope the leg kit fits in the bag with the grill. I’ll report back when I get a chance to try it out.
@@leodur13 it’s been good for me so far it is easier to scratch definitely use the right tools. I cooked another tomahawk on it a few weeks ago. It’s at the end of my Overland Of America video
@Thecrayonbrotherhood I was having the same problem also. It kept coming up with the full griddle one and I couldn't find the one with the burner. Thank you very much!
Excellent review. I am also storing the regulator inside the burner area for the same reason you are-but also because I don’t want to forget when it is there when I use a 20 pound tank.
I don’t know why but they took all this Model down. My local Walmart in Texarkana tx has one left, and I seen it in person not online. But other than that I can’t find them anymore.

I just picked one of these up to add to my overlanding loadout and I gotta say I agree, I thought it would be higher quality construction.

black stone has a air fryer too, and I used a Colman oven on this griddle and it worked pretty good.
Amazon sells adapters that allows you to run it off a quick disconnect that is common on todays rv. Makes it much cheaper to operate.

Thank you for your review, have been looking into this griddle/burner setup.
I really like it for my application.
Thank u for the detailed review. Will be purchasing soon.
this is a great, thorough review. thank you for the link!!!
I agree with everything you said. The quality is a bit sub par. For off-roading I'm concerned
Great review, much appreciated!
If I cooked on these types of stoves/griddles I would absolutely try this one after watching this.
Maybe it’s time to cook on one of these??
Thank you for this review. But how did you like that the griddle was made out of aluminum?
So far I’m liking it. Heats up and cools down quickly and cooked that tomahawk easily.

Thanks for the review. Just sold my electric one, although bulky it cooked well. Debating between this or fire maple unit 🤔
I haven’t seen the Fire maple unit yet, I’ll check it out.
Thanks for great review. Did you season this? Some say you don’t because aluminum.
No, with the coating it wasn’t necessary.
The instructions explicitly say no seasoning necessary
Great video danny
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words.
I agree with that dinky hinge lock and the wind hitting that solid lid like a boat sail. If that hinge lock/arm did happen to break, do you think the lid would open fully and lay flat without hurting the hinges?
No it’s opens to a 45° and that’s it.

No I haven’t had any issues with the igniter. Not to say I won’t, just haven’t yet. Igniters seem to be common problem with a lot of brands.

Great little griddle but flimsy. The non stick aluminum griddle is fantastic! So much better then the old rusty stainless...
Ya I’m still liking it for sure
Been 5 months, how’s it holding up?!?!

Not really a big fan of aluminum cooking surfaces. Is the aluminum griddle swappable with an iron plate/griddle?
If you know a fab guy they could probably make you one out of stainless.
@@TheCrayonBrotherhood Yes, stainless! That should solve the rusting issue. Thanks for the idea and for the quick response.

Yes in one of my other videos about it that’s what I’m using
