- Massive amounts of illicit drugs are entering the United States through the nation's southern border, leading to a surge in fentanyl seizures. Most of the fentanyl police recover now comes in pill form, which can be hard to identify, officials say. Tom Quehl, the co-founder of the Jack Quehl Foundation and a father who lost his son to fentanyl poisoning, joined "NewsNation Now" to discuss what needs to happen.

This is just flat out murder.
Thank China and Mexico.
This is so heartbreaking and tragic!!
Close the border now !
They make it here, too.
@@audreydaleski1067so leave it open ?
@@audreydaleski1067and they make 1000000x more in china and SA too. which is then smuggled to america.
Amercians need to stop using drugs.
@@rowyourboat5361 you need to stop using drugs
Everybody knows about the dangers but they still keep dropping like flies 😮
Desperation
Yeah it’s the border. The middleman is not from south of the border.
Sorry for your los....
They’re making that shit here in America
I’m Mexican and i never take any drugs … is a parent open their eyes more . And don’t trust all friends and all your kids saying.
Well said🙏unfortunately we’re in a apocalypse times🥲
This generation is so lost, friends aren’t real anymore😞🥲so much pure pressure in society, kids are afraid not to be accepted for who they’re😞and they will do anything
to relieve anxiety, depression, loneliness etc.
The problem is also mental health issues and this young generation don’t have access to a good mental health system🙏😞🥲
It’s very sad😢kids dying everyday.
Parents need to be more proactive and remain vigilant about their friends and who they are.
It’s tragic such a sad😞situation.
I’m truly sorry for your loss🥲
it has nothing to do with “friends” ppl need medication and the restriction on opioids etc and the cost of healthcare is the real prob - educate urself “mom”
Im
gunna say this again: make it easier to get these meds prescribed and ppl will STOP dying
Right
This guy did cocaine
As if being a good student of a collage grad saves anyone. He was doing coke. Still drugs.
With the death toll of fent I think an entire generation will be lost leaving a GAP in the U.S in the future
get your drugs from walgreens, walmart or any other legal establishment, talk to your kids early, stop blaming others.
ppl cant get opioids legally anymore thats the prob - try throwing your back out and getting pain meds it doesnt work anymore so ppl are dying
@@theblondeone8426right
They should write prescriptions for cocaine.
After fentynol... there will be another drug....it will never stop...its been like this for decades. 2:14
It sucks but you are right
get you drugs from a competent Dr, if not you better know your chemistry
As long as we have Is politicians who are too busy with political ideas And not protecting the united states american citizens this problem will continue. I blame politicians
My son was MURDERED by FENTENYL
What was he trying to take instead?
Kid should get a job at the trudeau government....
It's becoming difficult at this point to feel sorry for these young people not getting the message that's been going on for so long now, by taking drugs/pills off the street for whatever reason, they are subjecting themselves to a very real risk they will die from fentanyl. It's not "news" that the risk of these pills being laced w/ fentanyl is incredibly high yet they still take the risk. In this case, his son took coke laced w/ F. If he was such a smart young man, why was he taking coke?
everyone has once in a lifetime needed a pain med or other med they cant get a script for - its ignorant to think the kids are at fault
He did cocaine not a pain pill
@@theblondeone8426 Speak for yourself. Nobody I know does that. Especially taking pills that didn't come from an actual PHARMACY. smh
Something wrong....🤔 ...if covid was true....
so covid wasnt true - as a frontline nurse who almost died from it i find that very ignorant and insulting
maybe if you werent on zoom calls dui g covid youd know it was. real
Natasha you look amazing as usual ❤
The way parents are choosing to pretend they don’t know their kids are doing drugs on a normal. Most of the parents after their kids OD they say something like he, or she was just being a kid experiment. They downplay the problem of telling their kids not to do drugs, not to have drugs accessible to their kids, far as sometimes even just in their very own medicine cabinet. A lot of these people will say something like “I was used to him stealing out of my medicine cabinet”. As parents, it’s better to stop allowing your kids to do any kind of drug than to say they were just being kids I’ve raised my sons knowing drug use will kill them. The fact that there is kids out here taking Adderall and Xanax off the street. The boy was given cocaine lace with fentanyl is that one bad decision if he knew to go for cocaine he’s been getting high. it’s to be snuck drugs and you don’t know it’s another. They’re going out buying it. It kills me when people be like they do a little bit of marijuana and a little bit of pills. Those are all gateway drugs. at some point parents need to stop playing the victim and just realize they were neglecting their kids outside interaction and sometimes inside their home. It’s not accidental poisoning when they go buy it.
As Jack’s mom, I have to respond. I am not blind to the fact that Jack should not have been doing cocaine. When we say poisoning- it’s because he didn’t intend to die by doing a drug that should not kill you. He went out with friends and made a grave and life altering choice. We now have to pick up the pieces and live with it. I can tell you, our foundation’s mission is on education and awareness and to yes, not do any drugs. There is so much more to all of this. In fact, when are we going to realize that they are killing a whole generation- leading killer in the US- I think that’s poisoning. No need to start a comment thread. I just needed to say my peace as our hearts our broken and no parent should have to go through what we ALL are who have lost children to this crisis. Thank you to News Nation for sharing our story.
@doitforjack Thank you for the work you and your family are doing to bring awareness to this grave issue. Your husband talked about securing the border as being one of the necessary steps taken to stem the flow of these drugs, and that border patrol is underfunded and understaffed. As you may or may not know, Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate, as well as President Biden was in support of a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would have gone a long way to help secure our border. However, the current Republican nominee for President, Donald Trump, pushed Republicans to kill that bill so as to keep immigration and border security as a political weapon that he could use against the incumbent, President Biden. In other words, Trump is willing to put his political aspirations ahead of the well-being of the American people and the country as a whole.
I understand that your husband said that he does not see this as a left or right issue, however, I wonder if this is something that yourselves and others advocating for a secure border to stop the fentanyl crisis is aware of and therefore try to hold Trump and the Republican Party accountable for, so that we can actually achieve that change that hopefully we all seek. Again, thank you for sharing Jack’s story and I wish your family, peace and perseverance.

Fentanyl itself isnt dangerous, but mixed with meth or bath salts is
not true
Fentanyl is deadly.
Fentanyl is the deadliest drug, compared by dose. Just ask the DEA.
@@matthewludivico1714 Fentanyl is safe on its own. Its only deadly when you start mixing it and taking it at extreme doses. Was prescribed it for a couple of years when I was 19.
What an incredibly stupid thing to say lmao your less likely to die if speed is in the fentynal than just regular fentynal
