I agree with Bioshock 1 and 2 but infinite... Feels lacking. The upgrade / hacking system from the previous bioshocks where abandoned and that had a blow on me. The combat system was not really that satisfying either
Imran Pangilinan And the story sucks compared to the genius of Bioshock 1. Infinite still has an amazing art direction, a cool combat system and a nice OST, but it's far, far below the two first episodes.
The original Bioshock is definitely not a 10. Bioshock 2 had better gameplay than both Bioshock and Infinite combined. Bioshock Infinite had one of the best stories in video game history, but people are stupid because they don't pay attention. Bioshock in chronological order: Bioshock Infinite, Burial at Sea P1, Burial at Sea P2, Bioshock, and Bioshock 2. Bioshock: Great Story, Great Gameplay, - 9.25 Bioshock 2: Great Story, Amazing Gameplay - 9.5 Bioshock Infinite: Phenomenal Story, Great Gameplay- 9.75
***** Like you said, you never played the original *Bioshock*. *Bioshock* has *EVERYTHING* to do with *Infinite*. After you finish the original the *Bioshock*, I want you to play *Burial at Sea 1&2* from *Bioshock Infinite*. You'll see that it has literally has *EVERYTHING* to do with the original *Bioshock*.
The key to Bioshock games is searching every body, using plasmids, upgrading guns, and using a combo of plasmids and weapons. I'm really glad they switched up the hacking in Bioshock 2 because that hacking thing in 1 was hard for me.
I remember avoiding this for so long because it was made by a different developer and the first game was such a masterpiece. Then I finally played it and realized it was even better than the first in almost every way. I don't know how they pulled it off 😨
Story and world building was better in one. Other than that, Bioshock 2 is definitely the more enjoyable experience in terms of gameplay. Environments were also awesome in this game.
Criminally under-appreciated game. Replaying it now as part of the Bioshock collection, and having just finished replaying the first one when I first got the collection, I have to say I am enjoying 2 more than the original. It doesn't have the same story twist, but gameplay-wise it is superior to the original in every way.
in my opinion, the whole "rapture isn't as mysterious" thing is a double-edged sword, like the fixed camera angles of old school horror games. while rapture is not as mysterious and new, which effects the awe factor, it does make sense in terms of story and the main character. after all, your character in this game is a big daddy, not someone who stumbled across rapture. your character in bioshock 2 would know his way around parts of the city.
The story was dumbed down so hard it no longer looked like a Bioshock game. Underwhelming characters, underwhelming villain, underwhelming final boss+endings. The gameplay was indeed improved but that's it.
i completely agree with you but to be honest , i feel like bioshock 2 is like a long dlc to bioshock 1 ! but the game is fantastic ! love it in every way , the story , gameplay , multiplayer , the idea of playing as big daddy and the story made more sense here than the first one Can't wait for bioshock 3 to come back to the origins i mean rapture city and the classic bioshock world 😃😃
Actually I think that was a developer mistake or something. They did add them, but something happened and it didn't stay. They probably didn't notice till it was too late. Remember how Ammo Bandito didn't have voice lines either? Real shame though, I really liked the sounds.
Ir0n There's always people trying to kill you. There's always a symbiotic relationship between a girl and a armored man. There's always a drug that gives people inhuman power.
I absolutely loved the story for this game, after I bought all three games and first started playing I didn't think I liked it because I felt like it was just in my way to play bioshock infinite, but after the second level, it was fucking amazing, I enjoyed the story almost as much as the first one,
Chris Irvine I searched it up earlier and seen it. Can't believe I didn't hear about this earlier since I've always been all ears with this. I'm so glad a developer has done this and they're releasing all the DLC with all the games for next gen. The box art looks so cool as well
Oh yeah, this is one of my favourite releases for this year, simply because it's Bioshock :P I never played through 2 so I'm glad it's included (unlike Origins not being included in the 'Return to Arkham' remastered bundle), and I've heard multiple times that Minerva's Den is one of the best story DLC for any games, so I'm excited to play it. Just wish it came out earlier, it comes out only 2 weeks before FFXV.
Lufienthedarklord In my opinion Bioshock 2 has the best hacking system and plasmids, but I don't like being a big daddy and the level design for the most part of the game is boring (Persephone is the only level I really loved). I find Bioshock 1's and Infinite's level design to be MUCH better (yes, I loved Infinite's level design and shooting mechanics, except for the two weapons limit).
This is so weird...when i played this game i left feeling like it was just ok. But when i watched this review i realized how much fun i had with it. It Was Amazing
I played Bioshock 1 the first month it came out, and beat all three games. I got to say if you are getting one of these titles they are all GREAT games. I remember getting bioshock 1 for christmas but I got stuck and quit. A while later I picked up the game again and was amazed by it, truly a immersive experience TILL THIS DAY. Today I beat Infinite (on hard). Very different From the first 2 but overall just great. Fun gameplay. great story. Each game (maybe besides BS2) stands on its own. I would recommend these games if you haven't played them. Simply just a MUST PLAY and REPLAY in my book.
"C'mon Mr. B, don't make me kill you!" "Daddy! You always save me from m-monsters." "I am telling the other girls that I have the best Daddy!" "Mister Bubbles, C-O-M-E ON!"
The first Bioshock seems like an amazing game, and I really want to play it, but I dont do too well with horror games. Is it worth it? Because the setting seems unmatched, and the story seems amazing.
I just started this game and I gotta say I really am enjoying it so far. I love the feeling of being a big daddy this time. Sure the horror element may be gone because of it but I really don’t care because of how badass it is to play him. It really feels like the enemies should be running away from me this time.
I played Bioshock 2 before the first one, but I don't regret it. Bioshock 2 was my first favorite game and I possibly played it through 8 times. I especially loved the multiplayer and I didn't even mind watching other people play it. It holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, my dad pawned the collection, that my brother got me for Christmas about 2 years ago. Thankfully I'm getting it again! Oh man, the nostalgia is strong with this one. I can't wait :)
I really liked Bioshock until I just couldn't figure out where to go next. This oddly tends to happen to me in many of the "greats". It happened in Half-Life and Half-Life 2 as well. :(
Wakon Music I think I get what you mean -- part of you feels just a little defeated when you hit a point where you have to directly read what to do next, right? Part of the magic of games is accomplishing things all by yourself, and looking up things from a guide almost feels like cheating sometimes.
Bioshock 2 was good but not a masterpiece like the first game. The audiodiaries were less interesting. The secondary characters couldn't compete with guys like Dr. Steinman and Sander Cohen. Also you're a walking tank. One of my favorite parts of Bioshock, especially the first level, is the feeling of vulnerability. It was way scarier. Also that jaw-dropping twist, even Bioshock 2's story DLC was better than the main game. However, the gameplay was hugely improved.
as a guy who likes bioshock 2 the most out of all of them, the only thing i really disagree with you is that the secondary characters were less interesting, it's the exact opposite, they were far more interesting, because they were actually tied in with the story and main characters, Delta and Eleanor, Dr Steinman was just a creepy boss battle, and Cohen is cool in his own little way, but if you took him out of the story, nothing would have changed i do agree though, Bioshock 2's DLC was amazing, if they turned that into a full game itself, it would have rivaled the first bioshock
Wallas infinite only took away key mechanics of bioshock. Bioshock two was amazing in my opinion. Playing as big daddy is just something you can't pass up.
***** I'mma laugh okay?.... Okay, I'm done! The original Bioshock changed games. It was one of the best games made during it's time. Bioshock 2 is highly underrated for it's gameplay, and Infinite was a great game. Bioshock - 8.75/10, Bioshock 2 9/10, Bioshock Infinite 8.5/10. GAMEPLAY WISE.
In many comparisons of BS1 and BS2 people always say BS2 now has dual wielding of a weapon and a plasmid. But the thing is, even though BS1 only showed the plasmid or the weapon one at a time, when you pull the trigger(left trigger is Plasmid, Right trigger is gun) it would instantly use the plasmid or the weapon no matter which one is selected. So even though BS2 shows both hands there is little to no difference in gameplay.
this game is near perfect but the multiplayer is unessiary because you cant just add a multiplayer mode to an already imerssive story that and it took 15 min to get into a match so screw it
who the hell made that rule? you? there is nothing wrong with adding a multiplayer to an immersive story. don't forget that its a videogame and multiplayer is a huge part of videogames these days.
donkeyIips think about it battlefield 3 had a campaign mode and no one cared it about and bioshock is a UNIQUE game its one of the special titles that are better with story than multipalyer
Blake the Undead yh... Bioshock is beloved for its single player experience but there is still nothing wrong with adding a multiplayer to one of its games. I don't see what the problem is here. same thing with Mass Effect 3. did ME3 need a co-op multiplayer? NO but I find myself playing it anyway bc its fun and u get to unlock other characters or species like the Turian and Crogan and their different abilities.
I loved Bioshock 2, the thing is, it doesn't fit within "Bioshock's vision" , Bioshock 1 and Infiinite have such a brilliant relationship. But Bioshock 2 is just there, an isolated story within a city that has already played it's part.
After going through both games with a DualShock 4 attached, i can safely say those triggers made my experience so much smoother, also with the added ability to unlock the framerate on the original BioShock on PS3 - I feel more in-tune with Rapture and it's inhabitants than i ever initially did the first time round 6 or so years ago.
One of the best, unique, interesting and beautiful looking shooters ever made. If you're tired of the common war shooters, Like Battlefield and ugh, Call of duty buy this and feel how a real shooter should be.
I totally agree, i thought the story had a lot more emotion in it in place of the mystery that bioshock 1 had. Each game did incredibly well with the stories they had. I mean it takes so much willpower to not kill the people that wronged you in bioshock 2 and with choices like that you really get into the story
But is there any worth at going back to bioshock one (I'm playing 2 right now) Was the first bioshock better in some way? Like the storyline? or the charactars? or the feeling of play? I would really like to know :D
Man this game brings back memories. I used to own at this multiplayer back when I played it pretty much everyday when the game was at its high. It was really addictive. Story wise I thought it was as good as the first one. I thought this was a pretty accurate review. Anybody who has not played it really should give it a shot.
Just finished this game again, right after I beat Infinite, and then Bioshock again. Man, this was a lot better than I remember. So much smoother than Bioshock one, and there were a lot of gameplay mechanics that Infinite stole from 2. You just become so much more powerful in this game that the other two. It's awesome.
Guys I'm thinking of getting bioshock infinite on PC, and I was wondering are the stories connected between bioshock 1, 2 and infinite? do I have to play the previous ones in order to know whats going on in bioshock infinite? and also if i got the first two would I be able to run them on windows 8.1 ?
I don`t want to spoil anything, but play the original bioshock and after that bioshock infinite and the dlc`s for it and you will see. I can run the first two bioshocks on Windows 8 and it works fine for me, but some people seem to have problems with the first one and the second one crashes sometimes, but there are fixes for these issues on the steam torums. I highly recommend you to experience at least the first bio and infinite, since story, gameplay and art style are truly amazing.
finished the first one today (didnt buy this sale, bought in the summer one) and had no problems running on 8.1. Started 2 today aswell, the first 15 minutes were fine, and then the game jsut closed, idk what happened no crash errors or anything came up. About the stories being connected, I don't think they are directly connected, but they are linked, e.g repeating characters. EDIT: I dont think infinite is directly connected either.
SidTheSloth i had the same problem but i know how to fix it it has something to do with the code for the rivet gun, on steam forums you can find how to fix it, i just finished infinite and burial at seas episode 1 and they are someway conected to first one, i would highly recommend to play them in order, 1 then 2 (and minervas den is really good too) then infinite with the dlc's
I dunno. I just liked the Atmosphere of Infinite. And I accidentally shipped Booker and Elizabeth and ended feeling weird in the end hoping they'd kiss but then we all found out ...thats..not..the case.
OMG Yes. She was so cute. And It felt like I was suppose to show her the world after she'd been locked so long But in truth she found the world, the secrets of reality and time all by herself.
my biggest dream is for them to put DELTA THE MAN WHO PUTS CHEIF IN HIS PLACE IN A NOTHER GAME WHERE HE DOESNT DIE..........LONG LIVE SUBJECT DELTA!!!!!!!!!!!!
I get what you mean, but part of why the first Bioshock was so good was that you didn't know what to expect and that made it all the more atmospheric, I think what they are saying is that because you've seen much of Rapture before, you don't get the same sense of terror.
played through bioshock twice recently and it's completely awesome, easily one of the best fps ever. i just got bioshock 2 and i can't wait to play it!
The only relation Infinite has to 1 & 2 is that it's set in the same universe. You can get both 1 & 2 on one disc for a mere 30$ on PS3 or 360 with the Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition in you want to try those games out.
BioShock 10/10
BioShock 2 9/10
BioShock Infinite 9.5/10
BioShock series is some of the best games ever made

The this games story can work is because of the first games story! Right?
Disagree to agree
You forgot that you get to play as a Big Daddy, the height of badassery
Thats usually how it goes brother
IGN look at this review, I mean seriously look at it! This is how you make a good review. It has been years since you people managed it.
Sick burn
That's because this reviewer left IGN years ago.
Thank you
this is a bad review
They still do. You just don’t keep up.
a man chooses a slave obeys ,,, would you kindly play this game
TacticalFishing I am a man, so NO
Joke on you!, I bought the whole thing.
The games on the way
The key to Bioshock games is searching every body, using plasmids, upgrading guns, and using a combo of plasmids and weapons.
I'm really glad they switched up the hacking in Bioshock 2 because that hacking thing in 1 was hard for me.
It wasn't hard, just out of the focus of the game. Let me hack this turret and oh no, i'm gonna play Pipe Dream for a bit...
Idk I really liked bioshock 1 hacking. If you specializing in it made the game every easy.
Bro is not that hard plus with a right tonic you have a plenty of time.
Yeah and some of the puzzles were impossible!

I agree
system shock 1 and 2 are even greater and scarier
Preferred Bioshock 2 over the original. This game was a massive, story, gameplay, mechanics wise, improvement.
Except some annoying encounters like big sisters and defense-the-little-sister sequences.
The story was dumbed down so hard it no longer looked like a Bioshock game.
Underwhelming characters, underwhelming villain, underwhelming final boss+endings.
The gameplay was indeed improved but that's it.
Just the gameplay
underwhelming final boss. Did you play 1?
@@yeahwellthatsjustlikeyouro7466 You sound like you're talking about Infinite. Bioshock 2 is an improvement on 1 in just about every single way.

I'll be playing the 2nd one soon
What developer thought IT was a good idea to remove the line "WELCOME TO THE CIRCUS OF VALUES!" come on! That pissed me off!

Joel Charron i started playing bioshock 2. And I have to ask... will I get used to its slow pace? Delta moves soooo slow than Jack.
you mean like slow story? or like walking pace? I feel like they should of added a sprinting button like L3
Out of all three this is my fave
I agree with u but I only like 1 & 2 that's it the third one it's amazing and all but I miss rapture city it's beautiful and it's magical
I loved Infinite but I will check no. 2 out ;)
Its epic and beautiful

Is it defo coming? People said it would come last November and there hasn't been any actual confirmation as I'm aware

I loved Bioshock 2, the thing is, it doesn't fit within "Bioshock's vision" , Bioshock 1 and Infiinite have such a brilliant relationship. But Bioshock 2 is just there, an isolated story within a city that has already played it's part.
Bioshock 1 has a better story.
Bioshock 2 has better gameplay.
The Veneficus I couldn't agree more!!!!
Bioshock 1 - 9/10
Bioshock 2 - 10/10
After going through both games with a DualShock 4 attached, i can safely say those triggers made my experience so much smoother, also with the added ability to unlock the framerate on the original BioShock on PS3 - I feel more in-tune with Rapture and it's inhabitants than i ever initially did the first time round 6 or so years ago.
Believe On Jesus Christ And You Will Be Saved
Man get dat outta here
I think Bioshock 2 was the weakest...
Story-wise, it was. But the game-play of Bioshock 2 was probably the best.
story wise the weakest? are you serious?
Bioshok, for me, is one of the best things ever made in the games industry. This is just pure gold quality.
Playing now in 2024, first time. It still holds up in some regards, but is very much of its time.
You know, I sometimes think that the big daddy is jack because at the end after you swim up, it shows an old man with the same tattoos he had.
Nope. Subject Delta is an entirely different person. The Alpha Series was created long before Jack discovered Rapture, remember?
BIOSHOCK 2 is my favourite game and my favourite in the BIOSHOCK Series
One of the best, unique, interesting and beautiful looking shooters ever made. If you're tired of the common war shooters, Like Battlefield and ugh, Call of duty buy this and feel how a real shooter should be.
Is the story related to Bioshock 1 ?
There are audio logs that feature Ryan, which gives more back story to him
The WEBM Collection no, bioshock 2 is in 1968, while bioshock 1 is in 1960
So?! Are you saying that because the sequel of a game is set in another year it's not related to the first.
Why did this game get such grief after release? Pretty much everyone loved it, and it was a solid, fun and beautifully characterised game.
It makes you FEEL like a big daddy
Gosh I miss this game so much. The story and multiplayer was great! Anyone know if people play the MP on 360?
yeah but its not that popular obviously EdwardDG2
Rivet gun upgrade that can set enemies on fire? I dont recall any such upgrade in the game...
Well done review. Just because a game is a sequel doesn't mean it's bad people.
I have never played a Bio game or watched gameplay but I respect on a mythical level like before when people tell me about GoT.
I have finished this game several times and is still get excited to watch it
Did Ken Levine work on both Bioshock 1 and 2 as well as Infinite?
I'm thinking of getting into Bioshock and starting to play. Question. Can I just pick up Bioshock 2 or do I really need to play the first one? Thanks
All three BioShock games were great, but Infinite is undoubtedly the best.
Infinite > 1 > 2
Is there a video for that real life scene in 0:24
I totally agree, i thought the story had a lot more emotion in it in place of the mystery that bioshock 1 had. Each game did incredibly well with the stories they had. I mean it takes so much willpower to not kill the people that wronged you in bioshock 2 and with choices like that you really get into the story
Does anyone agree that the splicer at 1:15 sounds like three finger from the wrong turn movies?
But is there any worth at going back to bioshock one (I'm playing 2 right now)
Was the first bioshock better in some way? Like the storyline? or the charactars? or the feeling of play?
I would really like to know :D
Man this game brings back memories. I used to own at this multiplayer back when I played it pretty much everyday when the game was at its high. It was really addictive. Story wise I thought it was as good as the first one. I thought this was a pretty accurate review. Anybody who has not played it really should give it a shot.
what was that at 2:10 i never saw that
wait, so this has multiplayer but infinite doesn't? how does that make sense?
Thinking of re buying the first and the second again. PC or PS3?
Do bioshock 1 & 2 come before or after bioshock infinite (as in dates).
It took me around 25 hours to explore EVERY level in detail. So its not short. Bioshock is one of the best franchise ever.
+IGN Actually, Bioshock 2 takes place in 1968. 8 years after the original.
Its been two years since i played the forst game, how closely are the stories related, should i make another playthrough or will i be fine?
Did you ever play Fallout 3 with all its DLC s ?
Its also a great game
I loved bioshock 1 but never got around to picking this game up. should I play it before infinite comes out?
SidTheSloth i had the same problem but i know how to fix it
it has something to do with the code for the rivet gun, on steam forums you can find how to fix it,
i just finished infinite and burial at seas episode 1 and they are someway conected to first one, i would highly recommend to play them in order, 1 then 2 (and minervas den is really good too) then infinite with the dlc's
Leoneyr Thanks for the reply, but ive already beat the game
so why do the little ADAM girls have yellow eyes? did somebody make the girls?
Although I only played Infinite, I enjoyed Bioshock because of its unique and non-generic shooting style.
What mini game are you referring to?
should i buy this and bioshock 1 or dead space 2 and 3?
Bioshock 1 and 2. Dead Space 2 is good, but 3 is meh.
hows the bioshock 1 story length compared to bioshock 2? i just beat the 2nd one and i want to beat the 1st one before infinite.
my biggest dream is for them to put DELTA THE MAN WHO PUTS CHEIF IN HIS PLACE IN A NOTHER GAME WHERE HE DOESNT DIE..........LONG LIVE SUBJECT DELTA!!!!!!!!!!!!
2:12 is that Jack?
I get what you mean, but part of why the first Bioshock was so good was that you didn't know what to expect and that made it all the more atmospheric, I think what they are saying is that because you've seen much of Rapture before, you don't get the same sense of terror.
played through bioshock twice recently and it's completely awesome, easily one of the best fps ever. i just got bioshock 2 and i can't wait to play it!
Was a lil too short and I didnt like that you cant go back to past areas
i think he means WHICH should i buy
I've played Bioshock 1 and Infinite, I can't really decide which is the best because both are really amazing. I really recommend buying the first one.
Where was this guy for the call of duty review
The only relation Infinite has to 1 & 2 is that it's set in the same universe. You can get both 1 & 2 on one disc for a mere 30$ on PS3 or 360 with the Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition in you want to try those games out.
What's the overal playtime?
