All you had to do was turn the wheel to get better access to hole. Made this look so difficult for no reason
Thanks for watching and for the comment!! 😎
And that would be a great solution for the front tires. I wouldn't be able to do it on this tire since these back tires don't turn, but it would have been a good point to mention in a video like this.
Again, thanks for watching!!! 😊
Back in the 1960's, here is SE Louisiana, before America became a rich society, we used these plugs to patch every flat tire and we always did the repair right on the roadside. It was permanently repaired. I could Plug a tire hole start to finish in about 5 minutes. We never went to a Service station for tire repair. Great video A&E.
We fangled contraptions. How dare anyone actually take it to a shop to repair.
Great effort. Awesome kit. Many thanks for the video.
Thank you, Philip!
Definitely, its the Best one I have got ever!!
Nice. Definitely worth the investment. Thanks for watching! 😊
Thank you, man!❤
You're welcome! Thank you for watching bud!! :)
Good job while under pressure in live recording!
Thank you 1956Bejane!!! 😊
I have/had an almond identical kit(probably the same manufacturer but branded differently. I live in a . Super humid climate and even still that flex hose that attaches gets really brittle and will crumble eventually and you don’t even know it… until you need it one day. I’d suggest doing some forward thinking and either have a replacement handy or see if you retrofit those threaded couplings onto a better flex hose. Other than that the pump itself is great. I wish all these kits use heavier gauge wire, the wires are so long and with a tire with the weight of the vehicle on it, which it probably most likely always will be in the field like that unless you jack it up, and those pumps really work hard, and I have. Literally gotten a legit burn unplugging the 12v cigererr lighter plug after done (on a small 225/65 r16 on a Corolla at 35psi from 17psi. So didn’t take much. Nice vids so far though keep it up
@bigpips3051 Hey! Thanks for the heads up on that hose. I actually have 3 of these units (one in each vehicle) and I've had them for a while (not super long though) and they are pretty fantastic! That's a great idea to actually upgrade the hose. I will keep an eye on these over the next few months/years and if I see any kind of cracking, I'll go ahead and figure out a better hose to use. Heck, I may even upgrade the wiring on this thing to a thicker gauge wire. If I do, I'll try and make a video on it. Anyways, thank you for the compliments on my videos! I definitely appreciate it more than you know. Also, there will be a lot more to come. Maybe even another one tonight! :) Take care bigpips! Thanks for watching! :)
Thank you! Very helpful. What is the purpose of reaming the tire?
Great question! Reaming the hole allows the next tool (the tool with the plug) to be inserted quite a bit easier. It makes the hole slightly bigger. Thank you for watching! :)
Rough's the hole up and cleans it for better seal and as mentioned above sizes it to make inserting the the plug easier.
How long did it take that compressor to pump up that tire? I am a patient person but I’ve seen some of these tire inflators take 15 to 20 minutes.
Isn’t that too close to the sidewall to plug?
I think it's far enough away, but just barely. I did ride it like that for quite some time before upgrading my tires. Didn't have any issues out of it. Thanks for watching!! :)
Unless you’re carrying weight, you don’t need 50 psi in the tire. You should go off the door jam psi put out by the car manufacturer. The max psi on the tire is when the vehicle is loaded down
flight2k5, that is a good point. Thank for the comment and thanks for watching!!
Unless you got second hand tires then go by the tire lol
@@upanotch6091 😂🤣 naw go buy the vehicle manufacturer
@@flight2k5 yes go by manufacturer label when you have non manufacturer tires 🤦🏻♂️
@@upanotch6091 😂🤣 naw
I have fixed lots of tires with a plug and never got the inside patched. None have ever leaked. I would just take my chances because the repair job can cost half as much as a new tire.
Jeff, it used to be a lot cheaper around here to get a tire patched. A couple of years ago, it was $10 and I could be in and out in 10 minutes. Now its $15 to $30 depending on where you take it. Possibly more if you don't know where to take it and get screwed out of your money. It just depends on what you want to do. Yes, I have done the plug only method many many times on my vehicles, lawn mowers and tractors and have also never had an issue. I do prefer getting it patched though, unless the tire is nearing the end of its life. Thanks for watching and for the comment!!! Much appreciated! :)
The plug I put on my truck has been on the tire now for about 4 years and it's still holding great 👍.
I don't remember the nail coming out of the tire quite as perpendicular as the plug went in.
I noticed that also. I think he made a second hole, so the original hole is still there. It was at an angle. That is why I though he was having a hard time reaming it out.
I'm not sure what you two saw in the video. I definitely didn't make a second hole though. I did make the original hole bigger with the reaming tool. Jeff, you are correct. It was very hard to plug this tire because of the angle at which it was punctured. I think after reaming it really well I was able to put the plug in at a more perpendicular angle. Maybe that's what you two are referring to? Either way, thank you for watching and for the comments. I much appreciate it! :)
I felt yer pain with those stupid plugs!!
Definitely felt some pain on this one! lol!! Thanks for watching!
SEE-MINT
where do i begin with all the mistakes...
first off.. a side cutter would pull that nail out in 2 seconds....
then dont try to shove that thick plug and tool into a hole 1/5th its size with out properly reaming the hole... not filing the belts like you were doing causing more damage to the steel belts.. twist the reamer and rock it around a circular pattern to enlarge the opening.
and put the rubber cement on seconds prior to insertion... its lube for your tool .
lastly 48 psi.. seriously.. you must have the worst ride ever... psi is on your door panel usually 32 to 36 with normal loads/ passengers.
Alright, thanks MicaelP. You're right about me putting to much air, I was free-styling a video on the side of the road and didn't really think about that. The side cutter tool is a good idea. I'll add one to my compressor tire repair kits and try that next time. 👍
Also, the plug does not need any cement or any kind of anything on it or it won’t vulcanize with the tire. Vulcanizing between the tire and the plug needs to occur and will insure a good seal as they become one. By adding something else in between, your plug WILL leak in the future, oh and don’t touch that plug everywhere like you did, try to touch only the tip so as not to contaminate that plug or it won’t seal. happy trails 😎👍🏼
Never plug a tire mounted on a vehicle . Remove the tire and plug properly. Inflate the tire and reinstall or remount it.
What would be the difference?
If it's flat it's flat, and just speaking for myself, I've never had a problem plugging a tire on the car or bike as long as I could find the hole.
Ive plugged hundreds of tires while they were on the vehicle, makes no difference
lmao
the ONLY reason to remove the tire is if you are using a patch
Why ? I have fixed a lot of tires on the vehicle this way.
interesting ,, cant be bothered to backup your statement ???
Talking
very good real life demo
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
