Thanks for finally making a video for this. 😊 I had mine for a couple of months now just like you and I like it a lot. One thing that I did when setting this up was use an external monitor while in the house. That way I'm not spending hours in the car which could be awkward at times. You just have to make sure you are using the right power adapter tho as higher powered ones might not work. If you do this you will need bluetooth devices like a KB and mouse. I don't have a touch based monitor but I believe it might be doable. Most cases just use Bluetooth or maybe try hooking up a KB and mouse combo to the USB A port who knows. I replied back to a post on here but you could a actually run two apps separately over HDMI. You just have to put it in the right mode to do so. I did this a couple of months back so I don't know all the details at this time. I really only use mine on longer trips but otherwise I just use my Motorola M1 for wireless Android Auto. I just hope Kia will update soon it so it will be stock instead.
Haha I know finally. It does work well. That is smart using it in the house that way. For the two apps over HDMI, I am curious about that. I didn't see any settings for that.
@@TechnicallyJeff Ah I thought it was because I switched to the Nova Launcher, but indeed I can still create the shortcuts to splitscreen, but when I tap on the icon it doesn't start the apps. It could also be since the latest OTA update and not being related to the Nova Launcher.
Hi, thanks for the video. Any chance you are able to change the default “Car” to the OEM Icon and wording Kia? And can it also be changed in Apple CarPlay or AndroidAuto menu screens?
That's a great question. I haven't explored that specifically, but I haven't seen any options anywhere as I went through the settings that would pertain to that.
I wish this one worked for me. Everyone I have talked to while on this says that they are getting a horrible echo of their voice on their end. I've tried what they told me to do with no fix - They said to do this - 1) Open AutoKit - Settings - Increase the microphone gain 2) Disconnect all Bluetooth connections on the phone (including our Tbox UHD Bluetooth) Did step 1, but step 2 just disconnects me fully from the TBOX
If the HDMI output is not of interest would you say the T Box UHD is worth the extra over the T Box Plus? Also, I see the choice of SDM660 or SM6225 chips ... which is better?
I have been testing this Tbox UHD for over a month. It's a great device except when I receive a phone call the person on the other end will hear a constant echo.. adjusting the microphone gain does not help.
It's connected wireless by Bluetooth to the BT Phone icon on the UHD. Set to Android Auto. I try to adjusting the microphone gain and that does not help. The person that I'm having the conversation with on the phone will complain about a constant echo
Is it when it's on android auto or when you use blueooth and the BT phone app? I've heard of the issue with Android Auto but I personally haven't tested that. I use it daily with the BT phone app and haven't had any issues.
Sorry, Jeff, but anyone who is considering buying this should buy it from Amazon. I ordered from the link Jeff put in his comments. I understand that the order shipped from China to the USA, so it may take longer, but it’s been almost two weeks. I contacted the seller via chat and email; no response. My order shipping information is stuck at November 4th. I have never filed a PayPal dispute before, and this will be my first claim. Bad experience.
Jeff, how does the TBox compare to the Ottocast P3 you reviewed a few months ago? Any preference between? The display setting for Ottocast seemed more configurable.
The Ottocast P3 interface is great. The Tbox Plus/UHD allow developer options access which let's you have split screen with Netflix and let's you customize the resolution better.
Hey Jeff, just got the TBOX Plus on your recommendation, so far it works ok, only issue so far is the audio doesnt sync precisely , its about .5 second off. Is there some setting I should mess with to get it to sync? Video quality is quite good, using on a 21 Honda Accord, iPhone 14 , havent not used in my EV6 yet, im going to try that one next. Thanks!
