Why don’t the Space Wolves have any Successor Chapters? | Warhammer 40k Lore

- The Space Wolves are a first founding chapter that had plenty of Marines alive at the end of the Horus Heresy... so why did it take them 10,000 years and the resurrection of Guilliman before they got their first successor chapter?

Did You forget Bjarne from the Unnumber Sons/Gray Shields getting put into a space wolves successor to guard the Pit of Rokaust?

I really hope that GW does service to Cawl. He’s basically the last bastion of curiosity and investigation without religious hang-ups of the Empire. Personally, if they did a series of novels about him and Bile contending with each other, I think that could be exciting. Both trying to out-science each other.
You sir. Know what you're about.
Really sad to think about it added some barrel to a gun made a gun safer to use. And he's basically a scientific god compared to the 99 percent of the assholes twiddling their thumbs for 10k years. Let's not talk about making a better space marine
angron x sanguiniuss
Your wish was granted.
Since Leman is in the warp for 10000 years? I wonder if he will get a warp form like Corvus, imagine a giant werewolf primarch.
I expect full on Space Odin once he comes back
Imagine him more like Thor, smashing down from the sky, shooting lightning and blasting away fuckers with a force hammer, powered by his new found psychic gifts
I imagine Russ returning as a big Wulfen Runepriest. He talks and carries himself like an Odin figure, maybe even wears a hooded robe to not upset those around him but in battle he's howling ice, loping across battlefields, summoning whiteout blizzards, and clawing faces off.
I could imagine a combination, of the two like he can change at will during combat he transforms into his werewolf form but can still use psyker powers then in his primarch form there way more powerful and he like more Odin
Werewolf Odin would be fucken awesome
Thank you Majorkill I really like you covering the Space Wolves and your doing a solid job of it and I enjoy watching them keep up the good work mate

3:03 Leman Russ did change his Space Wolves Legion into noble savage heroes they are now after realizing that playing the brutal executioners that they reveled in won't win them any allies and support from the Imperium post-Heresy.

I've seen a good bit of your videos but that special bit at 0:55 killed me, you earned a sub and a like. Let's send it!
I love your factual and funny videos, and you’re 100% getting 420+k subs this year
there is a novel that covers the First Wolves, the first primaris space wolves, earning their place as sons.
If you have a homebrew successor chapter, a video on I would be cool
Clearly, the solution would have been to only recruit Felinids. Balance out that wolf-DNA with some cat. You may laugh now, but have you ever tried to wash the average housecat in running water? Now give it space wolf power and I think even Kharn might stop for a second and nod in approval of the pure carnage. 🤣
7:50 why does cawl have a tiny arm holding a tiny cane?
Can't they eat Heraldia and gain his knowledge?....
Come on.....
Could there be any individual space marines that have the gene seed of several different chapters, if it works what could their abilities be?
Some of the chapters of the 21st founding are rumored to possibly have chimeric geneseed or traitor geneseed.
Possible Reason why there's no space wolves successor chapters because everyone in the imperium hates furries
We're not furries, we're zooaphiles
And that they don't trust the Space Wolves' brutality and executioner image.
Hence Leman Russ changed his Legion into noble savage heroes.
They do have successor chapters just not many
But abhumans exist so that can't be it
Space Wolves have actively gone against the eclesiarchy, so it makes sense. Gully knows this and has been trying to placate them I am sure, if they had to choose between Gully and Eclesiarchy , i'd put my money on them siding with Gully.
The wolve spear is probably my favorite successor chapter especially since space wolves think they're hardcore even for them
Don't suppose there are any books of them yet is there?

If ya spunk don't work I don't think that makes you a chad
Seems legit!
When you read about the rite of passage for an aspiring to join the SW, you know they are all gigachad. It's not the most ruthless, but it's a feat of strength, willpower and efficiency.
Nah Leman Russ aint shit, I’m a nob that regularly throw hands with space wolves on my free time, I’ve been looking for Leman Russ so I can give him the hands but I can’t find him anywhere. If you guys know where he is pls tell him I’m looking for him and tell him to come get these hands
@@alexmarlow2508 bruh
Leman was pretty suspicious of Magnus and the Thousand Sons flesh change, so I feel like having successor chapters from a gene seed that is pretty sporadic with it's results would make things even more contentious than they were between him and Magnus and perhaps even build a case against Leman which wouldn't have been great for the Crusade. Nobody wants to be the next Thunder Warriors.
Edit: Didn't know that Gulliman dropped some Primaris off on Fenris for wolves. That's pretty cool. G man being a true bro. 3 (potential) successor chapters and *perhaps* more? I am thrilled to learn of this!
I'd love for Magnus and Leman to meet and reflect on everything that happened and things changed since then. Before having an epic showdown, that is. B)

Off Topic suggestion:
Can you also make a video about the Warhammer fanfics WH50K: The Shape of the Nightmares to come and WH60K: The Age of Dusk?
True story:
Got my first army when I was 10, 2000 points of 3rd edition Space Wolves
Painted them with an alternate scheme (Black with ice blue trim and white fur)
Bullied by purists that my color scheme was heresy
Left hobby for over a decade
Came back for 9th Edition
Turned my old Space Wolves into World Eater proxies
Built massive Thousand Sons army
Pick grudge matches with every Space Wolf player I meet
Fuck you, loyalists.
Proof chaos players are bullied nerds.
Jk, sorry to hear that experience, as a fan of the wolves ive always been for exploring them. Even successors arent cannon, theres nothing to really dismiss a fraction of a clan from having their own color scheme.
That happened to me but I had them painted in blue horror and iron warriors paint and people were mad but I just say fuck you im painting them how I want because it’s my money
angron x sanguiniuss
I actually really like that paint scheme. Like black ice, very cool. Those guys were just doing dongs.
Why people hate they literally the best geneseed and canix helix is unlike any other gives them upperhand in alot of battles
@@Nomore686I feel like some people just use furry as an excuse to hate them
Idk man, all the SW books I read were entertaining as fuck. They have a lot of character development. In order to hate someone at least have a valid argument other that rawr furry xd. The mass genocide of Prospero I understand, other than that by posting the same meme goes to show you no one bothers to read awesome books. It goes for other legions too, but SW suffers the most
I think Space Wolves didn't followed Codex Astartes because Leman Russ simply can't read
Why are there so few Salamander successors? (At least prior to the Primaris)?
Because the Salamanders are still a legion, who don’t even have the numbers of a chapter.
3:17 Leman Russ did create the Sons of Russ Plan where he can create several or more successor Chapters of his gene-seed and spread them all over the Imperium as the Guardians of the Galaxy.
angron x sanguiniuss
3:46 I find it weird about Leman Russ' geneseed as it worked on the Terran aspirants to become Astartes of the Space Wolves Legion when Big E was busy unifying Terra and the Solar System prior to the reunion with their Primarch on Fenris during the Great Crusade.
Russ made the wolves extra wolfy for the wolf lord in preparation for the wolf time
Thank you I have been saying this for years
GW’s excuse is that Space Wolf gene seed has degraded so only Fenrisians can take it without becoming super werewolves. At least until Cawl became a thing.
The Terran Wolf Legion before Leman were a bad bunch of savages. I remember reading(forgot where) the suffered a lot of losses from officers having to kill their own men to rien them in.
Same source, leman when United with the Legion was disgusted by them. The complete lack of discipline, unite, and semblance to a fighting unit was the cause. I know I know...it's the space wolves...what discipline can they have?!
Leman took them as a mob, savage unthinking, and turned them into a pack, savage yet cunning and discipline.
I remember that from years ago. I forgot were. But yeah, I always thought was a helpful insight why they had a close relationship to Fenis. Fenis helped condition the recruits before indoctrination.
Probably the rituals and the runemagic magic they are doing. They are doing a lot of those, and all of them belong to, are unique to Fenris. Probably that was the thing that mutated the geneseed into abnormality. As there is no other medium for the fault.
Awesome video Majorkill!!! I wish we had more information on skyrars dark wolves. If they truly are a space wolf company gone traitor. Even though they aren't considered a successor chapter but still cool to see one that isn't a space wolf company.
I think there was also a "Blood Wolves" that were traitor Wolves (maybe they were what's left of the Wolf Brothers?)
angron x sanguiniuss
Majorkill is what 40k should look like. A grimdark atmosphere but not overly serious
I wished that majorkill brings back his chaos warrior avatar. When he talks about Fantasy or AOS he uses the chaos warrior. When he talks about 40k he should use a modified avatar being changed to a Chaos Space Marine
angron x sanguiniuss
@@RocketHarry865 Or an Avatar avatar, since he plays Eldar.
I like the seriousness though, makes the ridiculous moments more memorable. Like Guilliman struggling to pick up a pencil.
@@ultramarinescaptain3840
Exactly. 40K is a grimdark sundae topped with with sprinkles and chocolate chips of absurdity. That's why it's persisted for 30 years despite GW's increasing contempt for its customers.
On the one hand, blood eagled Ultramarines crucified to the front of tanks.
On the other, an Ork truck powered by a literal bucket of bolts with the word "Enjin" written on the side.
Battle of the Fang is my top 3 40k Novels, thanks for the continued entertainment, from a fan here at Northam, Western Australia.

Magnus is cool ig.
The imperial navy would be nice, but I feel little people have covered the dark mechanicum in depth.
All this wulf hate, must be some butt hurt inquisitor from that one armageddon campaign
The Battle of the Fang book was actually the first 40k book I ever read. I have absolutely no idea where I got it since it was kinda just sitting in my pile of books and I never noticed it until a couple years ago, but it was pretty solid. The defenders during the siege were the 13th Great Company I believe, and they put in a hell of a shift.
angron x sanguiniuss
Wait, wait, wait... did you just say that a bunch of Chaos resistant Wulfen went into the Eye? And since they are resistant to Chaos corruption, but most likely not mutation, there's a bigger than zero chance, that giant big fuckin Werewolf Russ is running around Warp with an army of Werewolf Astartes?! YES!!!!!!!!
I know, it is my wet dream too
Space Wolves and Salamanders are very loyal and highly protective of humans. The Wolves have a stubborn honor code they will die for and enjoy more freedom than other chapters. Working together, their individualality comes to great heights of heroism and, at times sacrifice which allows the Wolves to win in ways that codex chapters can't match. I love the lore of the Space Wolves in the larger lore of 40k and how you can name, create back stories, give unique trophies and markings to each model in your army to really bring your enjoyment of the hobby to a more robust level.
angron x sanguiniuss
There was a month where the space wolves said fuck you to the inquisition.
Yes, the Wolves remained loyal to humanity and would not just go along with the Inquisition in the wholesale slaughter of the remaining brave humans and innocent humans that the Inquisition saw as highly expendable. This of course led to out right conflicts. The Emperor designed all Marines to be the protectors of humanity, the Inquisition views protection differently, but I believe the Wolves and Salamanders have kept the most true to his vision and the other chapters fight for humans and with humans for duty.
@@daviddarrell493 I think all the space marines were made for a specific role. Without the emporer or the primarchs, They wont be what they were designed. Dark Angels are an example they were lost until the lion came back. Alpharius is dead and its possible the 20th is performing thier purpose which means they still have a primarch. Thier purpose was to be double agents. Gulliman is straightening up the imperium and ultramarines a little. Big E probably made the Living Saints to try and make Sangiunius a Living Saint. Lemun Russ and Vulcan taught thier legions directly and the culture they made helped keep them on thier original purpose.
Russ beating The Big E in a drinking game is one of the best moments in the lore.
That's why we never played drinking games with him.
Can someone correct me if im wrong but didn't Logan Grimnar only accept the primarus marines after Gaius completed an impromptu extreme trial of Morkai who was then renamed Kjarg Iron-Oath? That and the psyker coming to him and telling him about her visions of the endtime? Its been a while since I read dawn of fire 3 but no where in the book do I remember the custodes threatening any space wolf. Thanks for the upload mate - great fun! As for the “Moon-eaters” I don’t think it’s some random chick at gw that thought it up.
The giant Fenris wolf is destined to finally kill Odin and eat the sun and the moon specifically during ragnarock aka. Norse Armageddon.
So being moon eaters makes sense for space wolves :)
Edit: Fenris kills Odin, yes, but the two wolves chasing the sun and the moon are called Skalli and Hati. The wolf eating the moon eventually is called Managarm. (;

Anti Magnus sigels, it was a bunch of giant middle fingers carved into the ground that said “fuck you magnus” and could be seen from space
I think that The geneseed of space wolves was degrading because of mjöd. A lot of mjöd. The amount that would burn a hole through a imperial battle cruiser.
After several millenia of drinking with their dad leman, the geneseed that is exctracted from battle brothers is a bit, funky.
That is my head Canon now.
You know, I've always wondered.
Why is Chaos having such a hard time destroying planets?
The Imperium regularly performs Exterminatus on defended Imperial planets with the push of a button but Chaos goes on huge expeditions to try and win the battle on land.
Magnus had no reason to leave Fenris be. All he had to do to achieve his goal was to blow the planet up. And making a planet uninhabitable really isn't that hard even without special munitions. Just throw a big rock at it. Burn away the atmosphere. Blast the icecaps (long-term plan). If everything else fails just ram a ship into the planet. They are big enough to cause devastation on a planetary scale. You don't even need to throw a fortress at a planet like an idiot.
And Magnus surely would have no qualms sacrificing a battleship to send a big fuck you to the Space Wolves.
Khorne would find it dishonorable, Nurgle prefers to corrupt over to kill ,Tzeeth doesnt seem to like easy solutions and Slaneesh prefers pleasuring/torturing than killing. And all gods need people alive so they can feed from them so straight up erasing planets is counter productive
@@Dd5yr5g tell that to Cadia. 🤷♂️
For Nurgle, not a problem, you can just send a planet-wide Bio-weapon instead. Something that releases into the atmosphere upon impact and causes horrible, horrible disease and mutations. All Papa Nurgle style.
Tzeentch just wanna have fun. Besides, the puppies were directly responsible for the deaths of all his sons, I'm pretty sure Magnus doesn't care how he goes about taking revenge.
Slaanesh loves excess. Blowing up a planet is pretty excessive. 🤷♂️
Khorne... Honestly I would imagine that a Khornite would have about enough braincells to actually think that ramming his ship into a planet is a brilliant idea because it's a great way to deliver everyone to the planet at once.
Anyway, when you have trillions of souls to look forward too, a planet full of degenerate wolf fetishists isn't a big loss. Especially if those fetishist are keeping you from molesting the nearby planets.
Dude you have got to talk about Ragnar sometime, the dude is savage and smart as fuck for a Space Wolf. Just got through his six book saga and loved it. Loved the comedy later with Haegr and the loyalty they showed to their house. Worth a read if you looking for some good entertainment.
I had a concept for a rogue successor chapter called the Ursine. These are former Space Wolves whose geneseed had mutated so as to develop traits more akin to bears. As such they'd either be just a rogue chapter, or possibly have turned traitor since one idea behind the mutation would have been Chaos corruption.
Have you seen the space bears over on tabletop time? If you’re into the idea of a hear like chapter you might enjoy them.
Not necessarily, there are other chapters who've mutated rather significantly without going rogue or falling to chaos. The Black Dragons have horns for crying out loud, I don't think some slightly bear-like space wolves would be much more crazy than that.
I’m a dark angels player do some lore on the dark angels chapters if possible
There are successor chapters, like others, there's mine. ;) Hilarious vid though even for a Space Wolf lover like myself. ;D
