I was so disappointed watching this movie. They had a great concept of mermaids being bad, because that’s what they originally were in their mythology sirens taking simping sailors to their water gave.
But it was just a super generic by the numbers, teenage girl drama. It sucks. I wish there was more lore on the mermaids, her side of the story. I wish I knew why in more depth why the mom left the sea. Her friends were one dimensional and one note, and I don’t see many reasons why she loves being a teenage girl.
Plenty of valid criticisms here. I also wish we got to explore the characters more, but they’re as one note as you’d expect unfortunately.

I feel like big animation studios have pretty goofy marketing tactics. I get this trailer spoiled actually everything (which sucked because this concept had a ton of potential) along with Disney not pushing elemental at all, instead taking on a single social media post that was a really bad and unintentionally cringey remake of “it’s morbin time” without realizing it. This movie had a lot of potential which is pretty sad to see not live up to it, it could’ve taken a different a different approach like rewriting the story beacuse it didn’t seem to tug on our emotions or have any suprises although I actually liked it, I’m a plain person so why not go for a plain movie. but the thing I’m the most impressed with where the underwater visuals and use of cool colors to make it seem glowy. It’s was actually beautiful and I really enjoy that. Generally I feel like this is a love hate relationship with me. Anyways sorry for the rant but your channels amazing bro! Really underrated, I also like the style of the video might I add, ima sub. Anyways keep up the cool content bro!
Tons of valid criticisms and points right here! Yeah I don’t know what’s going on with the big studio marketing right now because every movie recently has been flopping hard. Also, glad you enjoyed the video, means a lot to me!

Well just like I said, it’s really up to you to watch if you think you’d enjoy it.
The film was originally gonna be directed by Paul Tibbit, sadly it was he either quit or was ask to leave which explains why Kirk demicco was brought in sooner after VIVO!!!
Really huh? Well then that makes sense how it turned out like this. Kirk DeMicco also made the likes of Space Chimps and Vivo, and no matter the quality of those movies you still remember them. This one, I’ve basically forgotten almost completely at this point.

Some of the ideas in this movie feels like it was taken from Luca,I mean a kid who is trying to disguise themselves amongst other people because their a sea monster,sounds like it’s from Luca

It’s more of a satire of The Little Mermaid. Blatantly making fun of it. It’s too bad that Ruby Gillman isn’t nearly as good.

Biggest disappointment from Dreamworks ever. They had gold in their hands and they ruined it to be a tropey, cliched Disney channel teen show.
Yeah unfortunately it is a huge wasted opportunity and disappointment. What’s worse is that this is a lot of artists’ first movie they’ve worked on at DreamWorks, and it flopped AND isn’t even good. Ah well, that’s the DreamWorks way for ya.
