I have to speak up, and I'm glad this is coming to light. I just wanted to add just a tidbit of information. So there were a lot of volunteers to look for her. One of the investigating officers I was in Afghanistan with. We served in the Army together I live in Pennsylvania. I have a water rescue dog named Peter and a search and rescue dog named Zane. I was specifically asked if I could volunteer to come out and search with other volunteers. I took a week and a half off work, which I'm a full-time tower crane operator, so I'm missing out on a lot of money. I'm also a single father. So my sister had to watch my 3-year-old son at the time for a week and a half. I used my own money to travel and I used my own money for hotel and accommodations. Now when I tell you there was a lot of volunteers, there were other volunteers like me. Who actually had trained dogs experience in search and rescue, and these people were doing this for free. These kind of services cost thousands of dollars. So she didn't just cost the police department and the state, she cost all those volunteers. It's funny because I haven't thought about her in a couple of years now, and I recently got a letter from an attorney saying that if she's found guilty I'm actually able to sue her for my time and resources. Not that I'm going to bother. But it's interesting for other people in my position to know.

Wow! Thank you for sharing this!! I understand what you mean when you say you missed out on income to provide for your family and had to maneuver parts of your life around to do that. I feel horrible for those who put their lives on hold to help, only to find out it wasn’t an emergency - but it also makes me feel hopeful in my heart that there are still so many good people. The world needs more like you. 💛

I think if you and others in your position got together and brought a suit against her it would be worthwhile, but you're right just you alone would be a headache. It would probably cost more to sue her than you would get in the long run.. Honestly the sheer audacity and horrifying selfishness of her actions should be enough to get her sued by you and so many others. Thank you for what you do Regardless, giving up your time and resources to help another family that you don't even know is extremely kind and should be commended. I'm from Pittsburgh by the way, it's crazy that you traveled that far to help.

@@correnlove7439 it's not even the money, it's that my son was so young at the time and I missed time with him. I mean don't get me wrong I think I made it sound like a little bit of a sob story. It was great to see my friend, hadn't seen him since the service. All the people that were up there volunteering for search and rescue went out at night we all got to know each other all turned in early to search the next day. It was a awesome experience I don't want to say fun because of the circumstances we thought we were looking for a missing mother. Had I known her background me personally I would not have taken part of the search. We were under the impression that we were looking for a woman who was nothing but a wonderful mother wonderful daughter never been in any trouble no reason to run away. Had I known there was a million reasons for her to be missing, I really would not have put the time and effort into it.

This case is a little personal for me, when she had first gone missing, a guy that I served with asked if I would volunteer with my two retired search and rescue dogs to help search. And of course I did. It's always great to have time off of my job. And volunteer it's just good for you. Plus I hadn't seen my buddy in years. Anyway we went to the town we participated in two days of the search, and then we met up with a bunch of the other volunteers who were searching and rescue. We made a few friends, so we all went to it was either Applebee's or TGI fridays, I can't remember which. But we were all sitting around having a few beers having a good time, and a random family came up to us and the lady said you guys are wasting your time. The only people that call her super Mom is people in her family. She told us stories about that family, and the crazy things Sherry would do. They said Sherry would just show up at restaurants, under a false name using an accent, and ordering herself dinner and just lying. So many weird things. We literally participated in the search for another two days and we're like all right we're out. It was so obvious that she ran off on her own accord. And that family wasn't the only family to say things to us. Nobody in that town thought that girl was missing

I never believed her. Kidnapping lone random grown ups from rural areas is not how human trafficking works. Traffickers don't keep women for weeks, spending resources on them and risking discovery, but not sexually assaulting them only to let them go. Her injuries were described strangely and didn't track. And most tellingly, she "was released" on the day the reward offer expired on Thanksgiving. I'm sure she thought she could parlay the return on a holiday of giving thanks into some sort of national support or celebrity.

Wow! I am so happy I found your video on this. In 2016 when this broke both my wife and I looked at each other and said there was more to this than a simple abduction. Like most of the nation, we watched news coverage for much of the next several days and, after the circumstances of her reappearance were reported, once again we looked at each.other and called B.S.
Neither.one of us are Ms. Cleo mind you. I am a former LEO and my wife also comes from a law enforcement family, but it doesn't even require that level of experience to know something didn't add up here.
First off, female kidnapping is typically not adult on adult. Most of your female abduction cases involve an adult perpetrator taking a juvenile (baby, toddler, etc.). Next, her claim it was two Hispanic women and her extraneous "facts" surrounding them was highly suspect.
On top of that, where were ransom demands? Why take someone for an extended period of time and beat on them just to release them? Plus, who brands someone? That is ridiculous and so over the top it has to raise suspicions.
Then, as if almost like flipping a lightswitch, after she was found the family asks for privacy and the story disappears from the headlines across much of the country. I'm sure there was local coverage, but it just was swept under the rug everywhere else.
Since late 2016 or early 2017 I have wondered about this case, but couldn't remember her name and was unable to find updates on it. Until tonight that is! I was scrolling through RUclips and I stumbled across your video. Thanks so much for posting. It's 12:30 a.m. here in Indiana and I am chomping at the bit waiting until my wife gets up for work so I can show it to her. We've talked about this case periodically while watching other true crime cases.
Now, who thinks her husband was involved in this hoax? Younger couple, two small kids, financial pressures . . . and his bouts of seemingly forced crying. He may not be, but I feel like authorities really need to get to the bottom of this.

How dare the police "ambush" and arrest "Super Mom" in front of her children. Don't they know how difficult it must have been for her to think about her children having to watch such a thing. Oh wait! I almost forgot. "Super Mom" didn't give a crap about her children's feelings when she deliberately left them for weeks, leaving them to have to deal with the horrible pain they must have felt knowing that their mom was missing and may never be coming back. She didn't care while she was selfishly thinking only of herself, about the psychological damage she was doing to her children. She didn't care about their feelings or what it would do to them when she was flirting with and communicating with other men, knowing she was risking the loss of her marriage which would only further bring pain to her children. Are we supposed to be outraged at the police for doing their job and feel sorry for her, who brought all this on herself and her family? Listening to her sob as the reporters were questioning her as she made a quick get away to her car, I felt no sympathy whatsoever. Kick rocks!! No sympathy here. You spent weeks away from your family making your bed. Now lay in it!! The saddest thing is how little time she will spend behind bars for this. When you falsely accuse another human being of crimes against you, you should have to face those charges yourself when caught. I can't believe it's taken her husband such a long time, but he has finally filed for divorce and I'm happy to see that he has filed for full custody of their children. And as for the ex-boyfriend claiming they didn't sleep together while she was staying with him, I'd like to ask him about the semen which was a perfect DNA match to him that they found on her underwear.. Guess her lying rubbed off on him. There are enough holes in his story to sink a ship as well. Acts like he was just trying to help a friend. No, you big moron. What you were doing was enabling and aiding & abetting a psycho in her sick game. I wouldn't doubt it one ounce if the two of them didn't sit and gleefully watch the news coverage of the story as it unfolded,. Seeing her devastated husband going on program after program, sobbing and begging for her safe return, probably fulfilled some sick part of her psyche. The very thought literally makes me sick to my stomach

Emphasizing how she was this "Super Mom" like she different from other Moms is a little insulting. She is a stay at home Mom, yes. But, her kids are in full-time daycares. I'm not downplaying Moms who put kids in a daycare, but I don't think she of all people should be branded as a Super Mom for barely being involved with her kids as much as most Moms actually are.
