Davy, it amazes me all the time how you simply and easily knit flies. This is just art. We have expensive flies in Ukraine, custom-made flies are even more expensive, so I'm trying to study, but we have few or no materials on sale. I wish you success in your work. Like from me.

Having just watched Oliver Edwards tying a Mohican Mayfly for a half hour over 5 videos on here, (not his post, pirated!), and i did learn a lot from it, so refreshing to see your mayfly tying once again!
    Thank you Davie!

Thanks Davie, My seals fur is much better mixed. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I know you are a busy man. Remember to see if you can tie a pattern for the grasshopper if you have the inclination and the time.
    All the best, Sean

Hi Davie, Great pattern. Our mayfly are pretty small and very thin. I am having trouble tying this with 1.3mm dia foam cylinder. I think I need a finer needle. I have difficulty getting the hairs tyed in as the foam slips roud the needle. Also the thread sgemented tyes end up loose when I have taken the needle out. Can you give me any pointers? Thanks John

      Hi John,
A finer needle will help to make a smaller fly in this style but you can only go so far, remember to pull the threads after you have removed the body from the needle as this will tighten up the thread turns or you may have to use a finer thread for the small bodies as well...Let me know how you get on..
      All the very best Davie...

    Hi Davie,
This is a really great fly, I'm going to tie it myself. One small suggestion though, from a novice to a master (wink). I think it looked better with just the top coloured and the under-side yellow. It seems to me that, like baitfish, lot of mayflies are actually lighter underneath.

What is that yellow material that you use for the body? And where can i buy it from?
    Thanks in advance
ps: your flies look great as always...

    Davie,
I keep my waste thread long enough to whip finish the waste in front of the fly. Is this over kill and a waste of time.

Please give the hook # and brand. Makes it easier to follow, you talk about gape but for me it's better to have all the info.

Nice fly but I am amused how many on Utube misname that"extended " body a "detached" body. Detached bodies are those such as you would make for a "wiggle" nymph. This separately made extended is certainly "attached" not detached to the main hook and not aeye/shank only of another hook and tied on with a piece of mono. Otherwise great tie.
