THANK YOU Eddie. I was there in 2013 and see so many familiar memories. I had a different kind of burn though. My friends had convinced me that everything was simple since they had a large motor home and were part of a big ORGANIZED camp. You don't NEED to bring anything but but your clothes. However your part will be to build a BAR and stock it for our camp. Which I DID. What I did not expect was that the husband would unwittingly teach me Radical Self Reliance. Although they had been going the previous 3 years, he got highly agitated the 1st night about pressures being put on him by his position in the camp hierarchy that had volunteered for. 6am on the 2nd morning he woke me up and said "Get the hell out of my motorhome! I HATE Burning Man and I am leaving". WHICH THEY DID! As it was THEIR vehicle I saw little choice. I had been three less that 36 hours and ended up marooned on the Playa. I had little more than my clothes, one of my 5 gal jug of water, a box of miscellaneous snacks, 1 of my 10 gallons of Tequila, a sleeping bag . WORSE, was I had the 8 foot bar I had built that would have to get OFF the Playa WITH me. I was depressed. HOWEVER The Playa provides and our camp full of mostly strangers to me took me in and the burn worked out.. They returned a day later with tearful apologies and I with .heightened sense of awareness.
That's an experience that I'm sure you'll never forget. I've heard handfuls of stories of people just showing up with little more than the clothes on their back and throwing themselves into the great unknown. You are right, the playa provides. Sometimes that's a generous drink, an old dusty couch to crash on or a freshly minted grilled cheese sandwich. Sometimes it's a swift kick in the ass! Whatever it is, you probably deserved it. Never forget, bianca loves you.
Thank you for capturing one of my favorite afternoons on the playa! My friends and I appear on the screen enjoying time in front of the Man. This moved me- see you next year!
ekai that was beautifull brother! thanks man, literally the best footage ive seen ever! watched it yesterday when i was having a real bummer of a day n really depressed and i kid u not ekai ur film changed my life!! i then watched the documentary of last years burning man "staring king" and man it blew me away! im from the uk and thought glastenbury n stone henge at solstice was life changing even azore fest hungary! but damn bro every body need a little burning man once in a life time and.....!
Loved it all, soundtrack and the video. I have several friends who go to this but I have never gone but appreciate all that goes on. I've never seen it like this, only pics my friends have shared. ty :)
Thanks very much for posting this. I've heard so much about BM over the years and many friends have attended, it was really great to get a bird's eye view. There should be more things like this, and less war and fighting. HATERS GONNA HATE. Too bad, it's beautiful to see. THANKS AGAIN!!
Thank you so much for giving such a beautiful taste of the event from a vantage point I've never seen before. Can't believe I made it to Antarctica before BM. Brilliant shoot!
Epic Video! I have always wanted to go and honestly your vid has me planning for 2014. I am going to go solo so I can experience life on the playa to its fullest. Thank you ekai!!
Simply amazing, that you found a day with no wind. I'm trying to remember no wind, but it fails me...lolol. Good footage, and excellent editing job. This brings back good memories, but from totally a different angle. A quick cruise over some of the villages would make a good second production. Thanks for this. Looking forward to your 2014 sequel.
this beautiful video captures the mood perfectly (dawn) and is what I'm showing people since no photos seem to capture the spirit of this amazing event. . .
I was at the burn with a DJI phantom also. It was really hard to control even under really low wind, once it even ended up out past the trash fence. DId you have the same trouble?
Could be... I've seen a lot of sort of "superstitious" arguments about what causes the jello effect (electromagnetic interference, blade wobble, prop balance, fast harmonic directional corrections, motors not spinning perfectly proportionally, frame rate)... At any rate, beautiful work, great subject... I *love* this perspective on the Man, and your editing. Hope to see more!
Eddie - fantastic work, thank you for making this happen!! Was wondering how the footage would look after seeing the drone flying all over the Black Rock City!
That was nice! I remember "The Burning Man" during the late 1990s. The cost to get in was $100 and bathrooms were scarce then but it looks like it has come a long way. Great to see that it is still around!!!
My son went to BM with Nick DeWolf many years and said this was the best experience he had and one he will treasure the rest of his life. RIP Nick! JIM B
Fantastic video ekai! Can you see what you're recording as you navigate the drone? Or do you just see it afterwards? Love the way you ended it. You should make a dubstep version :)
Nice. I'm surprise though. I guess it was a cloudy day and it helped. cause most of the time the images are over saturated from my point of view but not here. Good for you!. Where is that by the way?
Actually, the shots were mostly around sunset and early morning. The later shots, where people are dancing and the woman figure (Truth is Beauty), were morning. If you look closely you can see the differences in lighting. In hindsight, I would have liked to have set it to Protune for better color grading control. This is in the Black Rock Desert, 90 miles north of Reno, NV.
Wow, thanks for that man. I really got to try and get there one day. The photography was brilliant. Going to try and get there next year, but it's a long way from China. What do you do - just turn up or is it like pay to get in, where do you eat, sleep etc. I'm so dumb 8-)
Great job, steady hand, directing editing is well done . I know fingers in the noise but what is the name of composition. And again great work and good luck.
did you film this? did they burn that structure? what type drone did you use? we are too lazy to read all your comments these questions may have already been asked sorry if so. VERY COOL VIDEO!!
Gorgeous video Eddie. I am amazed that something as harmless as desert landscapes at burning man brings out the RUclips trolls. But I guess I shouldn't be.
Great work! Super nostalgic right now... Was this the drone with 2 green and 2 red light bars attached to its rotor-wings by night? Waiting to see night time footage of the Burn night because you kept popping the drone in front of the Bunny art car I was DJing and the crew was raging on :p Thanks for the super quality vid!!
Burning Man has always been something that piqued my interest, but is quite a distance from NB, Canada to get to. It's definitely one of those things the wife and I have to do some day. Video itself was mesmerizing and awe-inspiring.
don't know why everyone is leaving hate on this video. maybe because it made it to the front page? Anyways, you got some really great footage and It really paints a nice picture of what it was like. I only saw photos so far from this year and it's hard to get a good grasp on the whole thing unless you see it like this.
I went this yr. with my 36 yr. old son. I am 60. We are both professional business owners. The people on here who have posted derogatory remarks about BM are jealous, cant afford tickets, and live in a NUT shell. Every man woman and child should see this amazing art and here the music. People from all over the world come to see BM.
It's nice to see so many accepting, non opinionated people commenting on this because obviously this video was put up to see what people thought of Burning Man.
Ekai, what kind of Drone were you using? And BTW, I was at the Playa this year. It was absolutely incredible. Hope you had an amazing Burn. This video is fantastic.
Could I use some of this awesome footage for an online advertisement for a costume shop I work for? We're working on a Burning Man gear advert, and these shots really set the mood! I would credit you in the video for sure. Thanks!
Not possible. Burning Man doesn't like the use of their imagery for commercial purposes. Anything like that would have to be approved by the BM org as they have final say on anything shot at the event.

Not sure why, but I feel so relaxed and content after watching this. Thank you, Mr. Codel, for sharing this beautiful footage.
You're quite welcome! Just call me the zen delivery service.

Fabulous! Thanks for taking me back. Also WOW @eddie - so many views!
Thank you for capturing one of my favorite afternoons on the playa! My friends and I appear on the screen enjoying time in front of the Man. This moved me- see you next year!
Best overview of the playa I've seen so far! Relivin'it... again and again.
I love Burning Man. Everyone should make a point to go at least once in their lives. It is an experience you will never forget.
This is gorgeous Eddie. I was homesick this year, and this put me right there for a few minutes. A gift!
My God ! That was awsomeness with chillies added . With an ice cream finish ! Wonderful , wonderful stuff . Thank you . x
ekai that was beautifull brother! thanks man, literally the best footage ive seen ever! watched it yesterday when i was having a real bummer of a day n really depressed and i kid u not ekai ur film changed my life!! i then watched the documentary of last years burning man "staring king" and man it blew me away! im from the uk and thought glastenbury n stone henge at solstice was life changing even azore fest hungary! but damn bro every body need a little burning man once in a life time and.....!
this looks like a post-apocalyptic movie. great work!
FUCK I can't even begin to comprehend how huge this place is.
Would love to experience it some day.
Do it! You still have 24 hours before the gate opens.
GIVES ME CHILLS! SUCH AN AWESOME FESTIVAL AND SOMETHING THAT YOU WILL NEVER FORGET. UNRIVALED ART AND CREATIVITY!
Beautifully done. Love the shots, the smooth, floating travel, the closeups and the mesmerizing music.
my Best Friend just got back last wednesday from this . The pictures she had were amazing
Loved it all, soundtrack and the video. I have several friends who go to this but I have never gone but appreciate all that goes on. I've never seen it like this, only pics my friends have shared. ty :)
Thank YOU Eddie for sharing this....so if we can't be there physically we can 'hover in spirit' and enJOY!
So why does this have 1000 dislikes? Amazing vid
Thank you for this video! It has inspired me to make it to this event at some point in the next couple years. It looks mesmerizing
Thanks very much for posting this. I've heard so much about BM over the years and many friends have attended, it was really great to get a bird's eye view. There should be more things like this, and less war and fighting.
HATERS GONNA HATE. Too bad, it's beautiful to see. THANKS AGAIN!!
Great footage! I'm glad drones are being used in positive ways!
Thank you so much for giving such a beautiful taste of the event from a vantage point I've never seen before. Can't believe I made it to Antarctica before BM. Brilliant shoot!
Amazing, Eddie. Thanks!
I wish I'd spent more time checking out the art pieces! Thanks for making this video!
It's cool to see it during the day. Thanks for posting!
Love this view of the lady sculpture. Thank you!

Well done, Eddie. Really cool! I remember meeting you at CES 2007. Fun to see what you are up to now. - Michelle Osorio
Best drone-camera work I've seen this year!
I was there. Had an amazing time. Thank you for work. Brilliant P.O.V.
Incredible footage Eddie. Thanks for sharing (from Australia)
Very clever and very cool! I want to go.
Epic Video! I have always wanted to go and honestly your vid has me planning for 2014. I am going to go solo so I can experience life on the playa to its fullest. Thank you ekai!!
I don't think I've seen anything more amazing! I hope that one day I can have the experience of seeing this!
The memories this brings!! I have quite a few tales from my experience. Love it!! Thanks for sharing :)
oh man, this makes me so hard wanna go there and hang out!!!

I saw that drone there! Awesome footage. Gives a good sense of how massive the place is.
Neat way to capture it thanks for taking the time and heart!

Brilliant!! Reminds me of the beautiful places and kind people of Nevada!
Simply amazing, that you found a day with no wind. I'm trying to remember no wind, but it fails me...lolol. Good footage, and excellent editing job. Most mornings weren't windy, which is the best time to fly. It does mean being awake at like 6 or 7am. :)
I loved this. It was so awesome. Think of how much work went into all those. I would love to go and experience this in person.
Ray, you look great in your wedding dress (17 seconds in, bottom right corner.) Another star is born!
Just seeing this now. Verrrry cool captures, Eddie. 8-D
this beautiful video captures the mood perfectly (dawn) and is what I'm showing people since no photos seem to capture the spirit of this amazing event. . .
LOVE this! Thank you. Cant wait to get back home.
This guy 'borrowed' your video and renamed it 2014.
Drone's eye view of Burning Man 2014
This is incredible! Love it! Am gonna have to get there someday.
Cant wait to go back home!!!!! Thank you so much for posting... #tear
I was at the burn with a DJI phantom also. It was really hard to control even under really low wind, once it even ended up out past the trash fence. DId you have the same trouble?
Cool video. Really like the vibe behind it. Neat music too, by coincidence I just heard of Fingers in the Noise yesterday.
Great video wish it was longer! thanks for sharing.
Home! Thank you for such a lovely video.
I was wondering why so many people were riding bikes, but now I can see how vast the site is.It looks amazing and maybe one for the bucket list
Eddie - fantastic work, thank you for making this happen!! Was wondering how the footage would look after seeing the drone flying all over the Black Rock City!
Love this, I even found me and my bikes during the Unicorn Rampage at the 35 second mark.
RIP Nick!

Thanks for that cool perspective. I dig the music too.
Sweet! I'm totally down! SF needs more drone vids for sho! Let me know, what are the CF props you got.
lovey video, thanks for making it mate!
Fantastic video ekai! Can you see what you're recording as you navigate the drone? Or do you just see it afterwards? Love the way you ended it. You should make a dubstep version :)
I like the desaturation and the washed out look of the images. It looks very cinematic. Was that shot Protune Flat?
Nope, wasn't set to Protune. That's just how GoPro interpreted the surreal natural environment of the desert.
That was a lot of fun! I was the one on the bike. See ya next year!!!
My cousin is very into Burning Man, he always used to tell me stories. Never really saw what it actually looked like until this. Very cool.
Never been my self 2 BM but your video you did is amazing how long did it take you 2 master your flying skills?
Wow, thanks for that man. I really got to try and get there one day. The photography was brilliant. Going to try and get there next year, but it's a long way from China. What do you do - just turn up or is it like pay to get in, where do you eat, sleep etc. I'm so dumb 8-)
Ekai- beautiful video. Can you please tell me what editing software you use and if this video was stabilized? Thank you for your hard work on this!
Great job, steady hand, directing editing is well done . I know fingers in the noise but what is the name of composition. And again great work and good luck.
Inspiring footage. I'm get'n me a drone. No more hiring cherry-pickers for those wide sweeping takes. Nice werk.
It's a festival in the middle of the Black Rock Desert in NW Nevada. It is north and east of Reno NV, near a town called Gerlach.
did you film this? did they burn that structure? what type drone did you use? we are too lazy to read all your comments these questions may have already been asked sorry if so. VERY COOL VIDEO!!
Gorgeous video Eddie.
I am amazed that something as harmless as desert landscapes at burning man brings out the RUclips trolls. But I guess I shouldn't be.
Very Cool ! Nice to see a birds eye view of things !!
And , liked the music ! ;)
Love how this video shows me what wonderful places the world has to visit and also that I have no life... 0.o
soooo badass. i will go to one of these before i die. My Father has told me that its a one of a life time experience.
I loved this video! Amazing job!
Enjoyed this video, thumbs up. Cheers from Sint Maarten

Woooooooooooooow oooooowwwwwwww oooooohhhhh! That's awsome! What kind of event is this?
wow o_o it sounds like something. I honestly like all the sand in the environment. Looks so pretty :) Thanks for the response.
Burning Man has always been something that piqued my interest, but is quite a distance from NB, Canada to get to. It's definitely one of those things the wife and I have to do some day. Video itself was mesmerizing and awe-inspiring.
Dude Burning Man reminds me of mmo games, its like another world
Beautiful, thank you!

Very cool. Love the video and great soundtrack.
The turning headed coyote is very touching, it's like a tribute to wilderness !
I wish I could go to the Burning man !
I loved that piece. You should! You've got 3 more days.

It must be a outstanding experience !
