Thank you for sharing and clearly explaining it! I have been making soap for about 15 years and just now understand it. I only hobby soap but it’s a huge time saver and probably helps with cost management. Thank you!
So glad you found it easy to understand! It is quite the technical craft. Whether you're a hobbyist or a business owner, soap is a great thing we all need and its so rewarding to know you made it with your own hands.
I had to leave a comment letting you know how grateful I am for this video! With this great video is your spirit, it is simply BEAUTIFUL- WHAT A BONUS!!!! I can see why you have been SO blessed! Many thanks to you... 🙂
Thank you very much for your time and kind spirit... New and very useful information for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your wonderful channel. I wish you all success❤

Thank you so much for this. I just recant very first white label request and I had no idea how to go about the process with the formula and cure time. 🤷🏽♀️ It takes forever to create solution and wait for it cool and the hot process method only works with a few of my recipes, others will overheat. I will try this and see if it works. 😊
Thank you, Joanna, I've purchased my first 50/50 solution will be trying it soon. Please continue to make these great videos. You are a blessing to the soap community.
Thanks for the post Joanna. Total newbie to soap making. I'm in my learning phase. Watching tons of Videos. Your post is the most educational I've watched to date. 😊 I have to tell the truth sometimes I think I get what you mean; then something else is said then I go, "Huh?" I'll keep watching until the light come on. Once again, thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing and so thrilled that you have found this content helpful! The science of soap is a fairly intricate one and sometimes we learn best by our own experimentation. It will click! Just keep at it. I recommend playing around with the Soap Maker 3 software as well so you can see how things change in the software when different oils are added or you choose different water discounts etc. I'll be continuing to make more videos for deeper dives into these topics as well. You've got this!
yeah, thats how i fell out of it lol.. id learn from one video, then the next one completely contradict the previous one lol. im a wizz at math, but for some reason all this formula crap confused me.. i dont even understand what this premade 50/50 lye stuff is.. i have a bottle of sodium hydroxide beads.. that i mix with water, to make whatever % solution... idk, i gave it up 🤣
As long as you use weight the maths can be straightforward. Remember...in the 50/50 lye solution there are equal weights of water and lye. The term 50/50 can be confusing but it just refers to having 50% by weight of each component...in this case 50% water and 50% lye. In othrr words, whatever amount (by weight) of lye you add is matched by an equal amount of water ( by weight). This is why having a scale is so important. Once made, if you then measure out say 40 oz of that solution, you will have half of that weight made up of lye and the other half of that weight will be water (20 oz of lye + 20 oz of water = 40 oz of solution that you measured out). This is your starting point. You then need to add additional liquid (water or whatever) to dilute the solution to whichever percentage you desire...in the video she recommends 33%. Using our existing numbers, you would add 20 more oz of liquid so that the solution total by weight is 60oz...20 oz lye+ 20 oz water + 20 oz of additional liquid. Now that you have 60 total oz of solution, you can see that you still have 20 oz of lye ( since you didnt add any additional lye) which is 33% (or 1/3) in the new total. I could add in some formulas but i dont want to overly complicate this. Happy soaping!
You have helped me understand soaping sooo much better . I love you spirit and energy! Thank you Joanna🤎. Keep posting these videos. I’m not there just yet 😂
Wow!! I have had to watch this video and play around with Soapmaker 3 over and over but I think? I am finally getting it. I am going to give it a try this coming week. I am also just starting to learn Soapmaker at the same time LOL Whoooo!
Johanna . Thank you for your time . I went to hobby lobby and bought the 8 pound Trinity blend and some more products I was so happy to have them so handy. Since I live in Florida and sometimes the wait kill me . Thanks for all your hard work and help. May God continue blessings you and your legacy .
I am delighted with your tutorials! you make everything to look a lot easier! Thank you for sharing your tips on 50/50 lye solution and this software! now I am able to create my own formulas thanks to this software!! greetings from Portugal!! xoxo
So if I heard that right, you have your 50/50 lye solution and with that you add a 1/3 of extra liquid, so say 12 oz water, 12 oz lye and the extra amount of liquid at the same 12 oz of goat milk, Aloe Vera or etc. (1/3 + 1/3 + extra 1/3). Thank you so much for your videos. Love them all.
Using a 25% full water recipe, you'd have 75% total liquid which yes would be broken down to 25% + 25% (50/50 solution) and 25% additional water, milk, or aloe etc. Hope that helps!
Just remember that when measuring out your 50/50 solution to divide by 2 so that you know how much lye you have. In your example, if you are measuring out an existing 50/50 solution, you would have measured out 24 oz by weight of your 50/50. 24/2 = 12 oz of lye and 12 oz of water. To get to 33% lye solution you would def add another 12 oz of liquid of choice. To get to 25% lye you would need to add 24 oz of liquid of choice. Total you would have 12 oz lye + 12oz of water + 24 oz of additional liquid= 48 oz total...of which your original 12 oz of lye now makes up 25% of the total weight.
Sorry, I not good with numbers. So, if I make a 64 oz batch of soap and use the 50/50 solution, I just add how much water and the lye together, that’s on my soap recipe plus the extra liquid?
@@adrienewilliams7186depending on your recipe, yes. But the amount of 50/50 solution needs to be double the amount of lye that the recipe calls for. That way u will have the exact amount of lye u need. Good luck😊
You are so amazing!! I had never thought about it like this before. Here’s my question: can lye and sodium lactate be master batched together? Or do I need to keep separate till making a batch of soap? Thank you!
This really helps a lot, my outstanding ? is at what point in the process do you add additional liquid. The way I am doing it I am still waiting for the lye solution to cool down.
Loved it, I just started making soap I almost got it 50/50 %, my question is when do you add the rest of liquids and if you have warm it is cool. Thank God bless.
Congrats on starting your soaper journey!! You will add the rest of the liquids first, then add your 50/50 to the combined oils and additives. The 50/50 should be room temp. Do not reheat the 50/50 solution. Hope that helps!
My 50/50 solutions turns slightly cloudy after I add the rest of the water. It is thicker and clear but then when I add the remaining distilled water it turned a little cloudy and heats up a little. Is this normal? I LOVE everything you share
Yes this is normal as the lye granules dissolve! The lye should be clear, the room temperature could affect that if it is too cold in the room or not enough water being used. But I suggest a strainer when pouring in the lye to catch any granules that might not dissolves if it happens again.
Say for instance, my water measurement is 24.32 oz and my lye measurement is 8.8 oz. Which adds up to 33.12. Do I add that amount of the 50/50 + the extra liquid?
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. If using the 50/50 Lye Solution, when adding Fragrance Oil, would you adjust the water or not? Lots of love -
Hi Beverly! Great question. They are safe to use in 48 hours but your full cure time will depend on the humidity in your environment. You will want to reference this video here: ruclips.net/video/UhD5vgDB98U/видео.html
If you use the 50/50 lye solution base cold and then add (say goats milk) to it, does it heat up again…or stay cold please? My biggest challenge with goats milk is scorching the milk. I can really see how this is a game changer for productivity 🥳🥳💕
It will stay at room temp based on the temps of your goats milk and solution. I recommend doing a small test batch for your recipe with this method and confirm how it behaves but I've made many goat milk bars in my time with no problem :)
Thank you so much ! I thank God that I found you . I’m in love with your job and mission. You are the most amazing compassionate person. Love your products . Thanks for this video it’s very helpful for people like me new in the soap making experience. Like 50/50 solution very much and your Trinity blend . Can you please do a video about the Trinity blend .
Thanks so much for your sweet feedback and encouragement! So glad you found it helpful. I have a video coming out soon using the Makesy cp soap kit available at hobby lobby where I go into recipes using the trinity blend :) Stay tuned!
It is a shame this question didn’t get answered. I make up 50:50, about 2 litres (quarts) in a safety gallon container, and use it all completely without any waste or mishap in a good number of soap recipes. It is always good to go and lasts me about three months sometimes. How amazing that is eh? I mix the right amount of lye solution into the soap batch once I have emulsified my additives into the oils, and blend to light trace. When whisk in well the essential oils or fragrance before pouring into the mould. This process frees up my brain to think more expansiveness about the extra liquid options I can use to make up the master batched lye solution quantity, for a great soap bar.
I would refer to the safety data sheet on this. We go through lye so fast it does not need to be stirred here but I'd refer to the manufacturer to give you a definitive answer!
Thank you for sharing all the knowledge with us . I would love if you do a show with making a soap So when I make a soap 33% how much of this 50/50 should I use.
You can reference my video on how to make soap using the makesy kit for a basic starter recipe with the 50/50 lye solution! ruclips.net/video/8tn-VII8BO8/видео.html
This is so helpful, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I'd love to hear about the temperatures of mixing the oils & butters using the lye solution too. I understand perfectly the concept of using 50/50 lye solution but what do we do about the variation in temperatures?
Great question! I recommend having your 50/50 at room temp and just melting your oils and butters slightly - enough to thoroughly allow them to mix. I wouldn't recommend working with anything scorching hot or ice cold.
Thank you so much for doing that video 🙏🏼I always wondered how this was made up.🙏🏼 *Can you do a live Video on how you actually do this , so we can understand more about the measurements so How do you measure the oil’s? to the lye water mixture? 🙏🏼👍🏼
Thanks so much for the feedback! I will consider doing a live video. To stay up to date make sure you visit my community tab where I make announcements :)
How do I know how much to add to a recipe ? Like what if my recipe says 4 oz lye 12 ounces of water how do I do a 50/50 ? If I do 12/12/12 how do I know how much to pour in my mold ??
Hi great video I have been making soap for couple year but I don't know how to formulate my own recipes can you teach me how to formulate my own recipes?
Hello dear soap gal, you re great! i am so happy i find you you.. Could you share with me the exact amount of 50/50 lye solution and liquid in grams for a 1kg batch using 600gr olive oil/ 300gr sunflower oil and 100gr coconut oil/ + 50grs essential oils. If i use milk,i just add it cold? How fast Will it trace? And if i understood correctly ,i can unmold the next day,cut and cure for 2 to 3 days and my bars would be ready to package and use ,will they have the same lather/ nourrishment that when i use a smaller% lye solution... i am late for my xmas market production,so i was looking into short cuts and i find you 🙏💗thank you for sharing your knowledge so geniunely. Do you have video where you show the making of a batch with 50/50 lye? To see how fast it trace, and how it looks after curing few days, and even show how it lather washing your hands...My experience is that if my cure don t cure enought tgey disolve faster and get mushy, i like tgat they stay hard and last longer. Will that be the case with the lye 50/50.Sorry many questions🙈Thank you for your time 🙏🌟
Hi there! So glad you found us too. We would recommend getting Soap Maker 3 software and using it to confirm your calculations in grams. You can add the milk at room temp and the trace will change based on your water discount. With 50/50 solution yes, the bars are safe to handle and cut within 48 hours but you will want to weigh the bars daily for a week to ensure no more water is dissipating before packaging. That is correct. Based on Dr. Kevin Dunn's research a bar that's cured for 1 week behaves the same as a bar that cures for 2 months. The only difference is the hardness of the bar. You will always want to test your own products thoroughly before selling. You can find my 50/50 lye video here! ruclips.net/video/Unzj7g6S2mw/видео.html
Sounds like your recipe has too much water! You always want more water than your lye but not too much water that the bars don't cure! This is why soap maker 3 is so valuable.
@soapgal Hello Joanna, I am so glad I cam across you page, I need a one on one to really understand how to make my own recipes and lye is my kryptonite. I have all the stuff but fearful to not make lye. I really want to be able to make 50/50
This was awesome! I know you said let our imagination run wild with adding any liquid but I would love to see a purée used as the liquid. I want to use real ingredients like carrot purée for example. Would that work?
Hi Criss! You will want to plug this into a software like soap maker 3 to get an accurate calculation. Every oil combination needs different amount of lye!
Hello I have a question about the 50/50 Lye solution if I have a recipe that say 8.5 oz lye 8.5 oz water I will use 17.0 oz of my 50/50 lye solution and add 8.5 oz of goat’s milk as my addition liquid? Is that correct I’m trying to learn this process it’s new to me. Thank you
You will want to refer to Soap Maker 3 to verify based on your desired water discount and the oils your using. It also depends on the size of the loaf you're trying to make! Here is a good beginner recipe to reference: makesy.com/blogs/news/how-to-make-cold-process-soap?_pos=1&_sid=85a8f3671&_ss=r
Hello ❤ I tried the 50/50 master batch recipe used it for the first time added the right about of additional which was coconut milk it soaped great but after the 24 hours I unmolded it and cut it and I have white spots in my soap do you happen to know why and what I could do to prevent it from happening again.
Is it inside or on on the outer parts of the bars and is it flaky? Was your soap batter fully mixed (no lumps) before pouring? It could be that the bar is lye heavy or could be soda ash formation. Soda ash forms when unsaponified lye reacts with naturally-occurring carbon dioxide in the air. It doesn't affect the final bars and the soap is safe to use. However, it can obscure more intricate designs. It typically shows up on top of soap, but in some cases it can run all the way through. You can try steaming your bars or running them under cool water to remove.
thank you joanna for your valuable informatin. I want to know is it possible to make safe soap with 50% lye solution strenght which I'll have 0 extra water in my formule of soap.
Great question! No. You always need more water than you do lye otherwise your bars will either be unsafe or lye heavy which will turn them into a rock!
so if u premake your 50/50 solution and dont have a warmer tank....when ur ready to use it and its room temp, do u need to heat it up to bring to higher temp b4 using?
I want to use Citric acid, but how do I incorporate it into the batter since my lye solution is already done? I am using aloe vera juice as my additional liquid, Can I dissolve citric acid in the aloe vera and then add that to the oils and blend before adding the lye? Thank you for your help.
This is how I do it. I have a 20 quart 50/50 master-batch pot. Then add the extra liquid to my 50/50. Depends on what bars I’m making (soap, shampoo, dish, shaving) I use one of these as my extra liquid: water, goats milk, heavy cream, buttermilk, coconut milk, soap nuts, apple cider vinegar. Having my 50/50 lye-water already prepared saves me time.
The lye should be clear, the room temperature could affect that if it is too cold in the room or not enough water being used. But I suggest using a strainer when pouring in the lye to catch any granules that might not dissolves if it happens again.
Hi again new to your channel, thank you for sharing I usually use soap calc to get the oz’s and everything about my formula I’ll let you know my name is Ivon, love you too
Thank you!!! I have watched this video twice to get my head around the 50:50 lye pre-mix. I’ll watch it again a couple more times. Makes sense as to why you would do this. Question please, can you add additives to this lye solution, ie tussah silk, sugar ? Thanks for a fantastic video, much appreciated 😊 ❤
Hi Mam I am from india how add citric acid in 50 50 lye solution , we add citric acid we have add extra lye because I prepare alovera , papaya soap etc pls clarify my doubts mam❤
Another great video! I have been using a 5% lye discount, but I am afraid to go higher then that because I have canola oil as 15% of my oils, I am so fearful of DOS. I make sure my Linoleic and Linolenic together less then 15% though I am not sure of the science behind that.
I'd recommend watching this video about how to make the 50/50 lye first! OR you can purchase it premade at Makesy here! ruclips.net/video/Unzj7g6S2mw/видео.htmlsi=NIqfPfWdWqvFPUNA makesy.com/products/sodium-hydroxide-lye-50-50-solution-1-5lb?variant=42745198051482
I appreciate all that you do to help.... I dont think I'm understanding tho. When I saw you day in another video that you use a 50/50 solution so your cure time is shorter i thought thats all you use 🤔 but if I'm understanding correctly you start with 50/50 but then add more liquid, like aloe or milks or even water??? So then we are back to having more than 50/50 so now what about that shorter cure time? I feel like I'm not understanding, sorry to be a pain 😢 😅 🤷
Correct! It's because of the water discount. We're adding less additional water since there is already water in the 50/50 solution. You can adjust the ratios to fit your desired malleability. But with a 33% lye strength using 50/50 solution in my dry environment, cure time is 48 hours until the soap is safe and curable. Then it's important to weigh the bars to confirm the time it takes for final water evaporation.

What program are you using to formulate your recipes? Also, what number plastic do you use to store your premade lye solution? And, 1 last question, do you soap with your lye solution and base oils within 10 degrees of each other?
The environmental humidity will play a big role. You can help your soap cure faster by getting fans or a dehumidifier. Also, reducing your water content in your formula.
Joanne Hi. Im just not understanding this. Video goes for too long, therefore my attention span has expired. Could you please help me and explain in simple point form ? It would make me happy. All i want to do is make a 1 kilo in total olive oil soap with 10% coconut oil. How much of 50/50 lye solution do i put in, when my soapcalc says something else. Im 57, and my brain has always functioned on simple mode. Thank you Joanne 😊
Hi GinGin! Your 50/50 lye amount will change based on the types of oils and amount of oils you're using. The most accurate way to calculate this is by using Soap Maker 3 software and putting in your desired oil measurements. Then the software will tell you how much 50/50 solution you need!
for some reason i just cant wrap my head around all this formula crap, and what "premade" sodium hydroxide even is lol.. i have sodium hydroxide beads, that i mix with water to make whatever % i thought i needed.. every soap i make is just waay too lye heavy and burns me or either just leaks oil while it cures cause it didnt have enough lye.... idk, i gave it up lol, but woulda loved to learn. i spent about $140 gettin started.
Don't give up! I recommend referencing this base recipe here to get a feel for the process. makesy.com/blogs/news/how-to-make-cold-process-soap?_pos=2&_sid=51fe871ad&_ss=r

Wow!! I have had to watch this video and play around with Soapmaker 3 over and over but I think? I am finally getting it. I am going to give it a try this coming week. I am also just starting to learn Soapmaker at the same time LOL Whoooo!
You've got this!
Thank you 😊
The first mathematical figures were off a bit but now I got it figured out!! I truly appreciate your videos and inspiration ❤
I would love to have a live q and a. Thank you again for the great information
Thank you for the feedback!
me too
Johanna . Thank you for your time . I went to hobby lobby and bought the 8 pound Trinity blend and some more products I was so happy to have them so handy. Since I live in Florida and sometimes the wait kill me . Thanks for all your hard work and help. May God continue blessings you and your legacy .
So wonderful! Enjoy and thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement! God bless you as well!!
Thank you! I actually understand and have had successful batches ❤
I just love you. 🥰 😘🤗
Halleljuah!
Ditto me too ❤
Great video 😊, I have been waiting for this video to be made ♥
Thank you Joanna!
I'm so glad!
I am delighted with your tutorials! you make everything to look a lot easier! Thank you for sharing your tips on 50/50 lye solution and this software! now I am able to create my own formulas thanks to this software!! greetings from Portugal!! xoxo
Hallelujah! So grateful to hear. Thank you for being a part of this community!
This is so amazing and thank you for all that you do! You Rock!!! I love this solution which will allow me to be more productive. Thanks again!
So happy to hear!! God bless you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I get it!!
Bless Bless Bless you ❤
Hallelujah! I'm so glad to hear :)
🎉 you are amazing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I appreciate it! So clear
So grateful to hear and that you found it helpful! God bless you!
Thanks for this video! I never understood the 50/50 solution for some reason. But you really made it simple. ❤
Yay! I'm so glad to hear!
What a fabulous job
I love the idea but I'll take time to grasp it. I have been a soap maker for the past 6 years but I often run out of my soap stock.
Like everything, like you said it takes time and some experimentation and operations changes!
Oh my goodness your intro was too funny!! Thank you for the info☺️
Thanks so much for sharing this amazing information
So glad you found it helpful!
Loved it, I just started
making soap I almost got it 50/50 %, my question is when do you add the rest of liquids and if you have warm it is cool. Thank God bless.
Congrats on starting your soaper journey!! You will add the rest of the liquids first, then add your 50/50 to the combined oils and additives. The 50/50 should be room temp. Do not reheat the 50/50 solution. Hope that helps!
If you add milk to the solution is it shelf stable ? How long ? Can I make it a few days ahead of time or it has to be the same day .
Lots of love -
I would not unless your recipe says too. A great way to check is using Soap Maker 3 Software
U should substitute the word employees for teammates/team/ family. We love you and appreciate you queen keep going…
I love your videos. They are awesome just like you.
Glad you like them! Thanks so much for your kind words and support!
I love you too much. Thanks for your explanation. God has put you on my way.
Thank you for that video! How many time soaps with 50/50 lye solution take to cure?
Hi Beverly! Great question. They are safe to use in 48 hours but your full cure time will depend on the humidity in your environment. You will want to reference this video here: ruclips.net/video/UhD5vgDB98U/видео.html
God just sent me on your way, THANK YOU!!!!!!🙏🏽 ❤
Halleljuah! So glad you're here
Thank you! This was helpful ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Sweet Jesus you are a blessing Joanna ❤
Thank you so much sweet friend!
Joanna, how long do you recommend to keep 50/50 solution?
14:32
TY for this deep dive! If using a bulk tank, does the lye stay suspended or needs to be stirred periodically? God's continued blessings to you!
I would refer to the safety data sheet on this. We go through lye so fast it does not need to be stirred here but I'd refer to the manufacturer to give you a definitive answer!
You are so amazing! God bless you. 🎉
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Thank you for sharing all the knowledge with us . I would love if you do a show with making a soap
So when I make a soap 33% how much of this 50/50 should I use.
Thank you so much for doing that video 🙏🏼I always wondered how this was made up.🙏🏼
*Can you do a live Video on how you actually do this ,
so we can understand more about the measurements so
How do you measure the oil’s? to the lye water mixture?
Thank you, your an angel.
So glad you're here! Let us know if you have any questions.
Hi great video I have been making soap for couple year but I don't know how to formulate my own recipes can you teach me how to formulate my own recipes?
Watch my video on using Soap Maker 3: ruclips.net/video/OWuN66XDhQ0/видео.html&lc=UgyV8Yo3oSxfm3GBpGF4AaABAg I cover basic formulating here!
What software are you demonstrating? I love your videos!
Soap Maker 3 Software
Great info!!! Does the 50/50 solution need to be warmed up prior to adding to oils? And if so, what temperature would you bring it up to?
It need to be liquid, my is around 79 degrees, but follow your certificate of analysis or safety data sheet, or ask your provider.
I really want to be able to make 50/50
So glad you found me too! I'll be offering 1:1 consultations on my website soon. I'll send the link here once it's live. So happy to help!!
This was awesome! I know you said let our imagination run wild with adding any liquid but I would love to see a purée used as the liquid. I want to use real ingredients like carrot purée for example. Would that work?
Yes! Because of the liquid content purees can be used for a portion of your water. I wouldn't use all puree though for your water.
Hi so if my mix is 1135g / 40oz , divided by 3 = 378 ?
My lyre solution would be?
Thanks Criss
You can try steaming your bars or running them under cool water to remove.
good info . but one question what about the PH of your soaps do you ever get a PH of 7 or 8 in your soaps using the pre made lye solution ?
The Ph range should be between 8-10 :)
thank you joanna for your valuable informatin. I want to know is it possible to make safe soap with 50% lye solution strenght which I'll have 0 extra water in my formule of soap.
Great question! No. You always need more water than you do lye otherwise your bars will either be unsafe or lye heavy which will turn them into a rock!
Thank you, I made my soap on your making way, but after 48h I had my soap soft. Is soap after 48h be like that?
Should I cut soap and let it cure
so if u premake your 50/50 solution and dont have a warmer tank....when ur ready to use it and its room temp, do u need to heat it up to bring to higher temp b4 using?
You'll keep it a room temp. Do not try to reheat as its highly combustable!
@@TheSoapGal THANK U THE INFO AND REPLY.
I have a question. When you master batch the 50/50 how long is it good before it starts to deteriorate.
I recommend referencing the safety data sheet that comes with your lye. We don't typically have ours around longer than 30 days.
@@TheSoapGal ty😍😍
I want to use Citric acid, but how do I incorporate it into the batter since my lye solution is already done? I am using aloe vera juice as my additional liquid, Can I dissolve citric acid in the aloe vera and then add that to the oils and blend before adding the lye? Thank you for your help.
I recommend referencing Elly's blog about citric acid! www.ellyseveryday.com/ellys-everyday-blog/how-to-use-citric-acid-in-soap-making
@@TheSoapGal Thank you…
This is how I do it.
How much lye goes into the intital master batch and how much water ? And does it matter the size of the master batch ?
I made a 50/50 lye solution and noticed it never got clear is it ok as long as the granules are dissolved?
The lye should be clear, the room temperature could affect that if it is too cold in the room or not enough water being used. But I suggest using a strainer when pouring in the lye to catch any granules that might not dissolves if it happens again.
Hi again new to your channel, thank you for sharing I usually use soap calc to get the oz’s and everything about my formula I’ll let you know my name is Ivon, love you too
Welcome Ivon!! Great to have you!
You can absolutely add additives. You will want to do this as one of your last steps :)
What does sugar do for the soap? I keep seeing this as an additive.
@kaylajohnson2647 You may know by now since this was awhile back but sugar increases lather. :)
Thank you!! 😊
hey is this for cold mixing or hot mixing?
This is for cold process :)
Ms Joann I need your help can you please help me I truly don’t understand the 50 50
Email us at hello@thesoapgal.com and we will do our best to help you!
Hi Mam I am from india how add citric acid in 50 50 lye solution , we add citric acid we have add extra lye because I prepare alovera , papaya soap etc pls clarify my doubts mam❤
Here's a great resource to help! www.ellyseveryday.com/ellys-everyday-blog/how-to-use-citric-acid-in-soap-making
Why my soap made, very sticky when get wetting in water
Another great video! I have been using a 5% lye discount, but I am afraid to go higher then that because I have canola oil as 15% of my oils, I am so fearful of DOS. I make sure my Linoleic and Linolenic together less then 15% though I am not sure of the science behind that.
I'd recommend plugging into Soap Maker 3 if you haven't already. It may help you get a better idea of how those oils behave.

You Are Wonderful
Ah! Gotcha'!!! 😁
Iv tried the 50/50 solution and my soap always turns out lye heavy.
What is your recipe dry lye amount ? So I can help you with that.
I didn't understand concept.I am begginer.what is actually 50/50 lye solution and hiw to use.
Pls if possible practical in video

Oof i got lost 😢, i need a soap 101 , im intrested in making my own soap but i dont know qhere to start on making my own recipe
A great place to start is getting familiar with the process using a starter kit! Makesy has one I helped develop as well The Bubble Book which you can get both at Hobby Lobby! ruclips.net/video/8tn-VII8BO8/видео.html&lc=Ugy-0RjE7DMY5Mm532B4AaABAg
What program are you using to formulate your recipes? Also, what number plastic do you use to store your premade lye solution? And, 1 last question, do you soap with your lye solution and base oils within 10 degrees of each other?
Thanks for reaching out! You can find more information here: www.soapguild.org/events/conference/
@TheSoapGal I didn't see the answers to the information I asked about, just a conference in Reno (which is extremely far from me so I couldn't attend)
How to dry my soap fast?
The environmental humidity will play a big role. You can help your soap cure faster by getting fans or a dehumidifier. Also, reducing your water content in your formula.
Can you do a demo for me
Please send us an email at hello@thesoapgal.com and we'll see if we can help you there!
