    I'd 100% recommend taking buses in BKK. Very local experience and probably the cheapest way to get around. Most of the time they'll charge a flat fee of like 10 THB. Try it :)

      If you have a good route to your destination it is a great option BUT a) in rushhour it can sometimes take 2 hours in stop and go traffic for what would take 20 minutes in normal traffic and most importantly b) sometimes there's no bus for hours on the route you need to take!

    Big tip about the BTS during rush hour. If you have to wait more than 5 minutes for the train and the platform has tons of people waiting, it's likely that the trains are backed up. Let everyone pack onto the train that comes and there's going to be another one immediately behind it that's nearly empty! The reason the trains are backed up is because people are taking so long to pack onto the first train that comes so that train gets all the traffic, but the next one is almost always empty and right behind it.

    Be aware that some ferry terminals (like Phra Athit) have dual pricing, different ticket vendors for Thai and non-Thai speakers, obviously at three times the price. Also, moto taxis are probably the cheapest extreme sport around for any adrenaline junkies. Just offer a tip for speedy service, and bring spare pants.

    I totally agree. I love the public transport system here. I’m just up the road from you near Sukhumvit 101/1. If I’m doing a day trip on the BTS, I get an “all day pass” for ฿140 and I get on and off the BTS all day. When finished I donate my pass to another passenger so they get free travel. Also… don’t forget the “Baht Bus” or Songtaws. My Baht bus goes from Seacon Square to Udum Suk BTS (5km) for ฿8.

Not only did that make it take longer to complete the fare payment, but it often left you with a pocket full of single baht coins !

    If your starting point and destination are near Skytrain stations then the Skytrain/BTS/MRT is by far the easiest, cheapest and most convenient way to travel in Bangkok.
    Much easier, cheaper and usually quicker than a taxi.
    On top of that, it also gives some very nice views of the city.
    Obviously if one or both isn't close to a station then that may not be the case.

    • @TitusAndronicus
      @TitusAndronicus 2 года назад

      After exiting arrival area of the airport, go to the lower level of the building, there is at least one bus company that goes directly from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya about every 30 minutes at around ฿130. At least it has been like that before Covid. You can also get a pre-booked private taxi from about ฿1000-1200.

    • @larrywheels762
      @larrywheels762 2 года назад

    • @Bestplay3
      @Bestplay3 2 года назад

      I'm not sure that the Pattaya bus from BKK airport is still running, if not then you'll need to get to Ekkamai.
      The bus station at Ekkamai has the really cheap bus (120 baht) to Pattaya. You can either take a taxi to Ekkamai station or take the Airport Rail link to Makkasan station, and then either take the MRT 1 station to the BTS, or just walk (I'd take the MRT if you have luggage). Then you can take the BTS to Ekkamai and catch the bus there.

    In my experience Tuk tuks are a 1 time tourist experience only...they are overpriced, smog smelling, non air conditioned, often rude and possibly drunk driven !.Taxis in popular areas like Nana and around the major malls will OFTEN REFUSE TO USE THE METER...this is against their association rules and the tourist association does not condone it but it happens very frequently. My small revenge after cussing them out is to exit on the passenger side rear seat and walk away leaving the door open so they have to get out and walk around the car to close it. I have also complained to TAT with their ID info. The BTS and MRT are the way to go as you said !
