I wish all the best for your daughter in her new adventure - & for you! When I started college, I got extra brave & went to a school about a 2-1/2 DAY drive from home. (East Texas to Baltimore, MD). I cried the day I moved in to the dorm & every day after that for 3 weeks. Thankfully, Mama was able to drive me up there, or I might not have made it at all. I did survive, though only lasted all of 1 semester there. I ended up transferring back to my hometown in Texas to a junior college across town from my house. College admittedly ended up being a struggle for me. But I at least earned my Associate of Fine Arts in music before schizophrenia put an end to my educational "career." I still get nervous when I hear about kids graduating from high school and/or going off to college, just remembering my experiences. But I'm sure your daughter will do well. At least she's only a few hours away, so I would think it will be easier for her to stay in touch & get home if she needs a break than if she were halfway across the country. As I said, I wish y'all all the best. I think she'll love the cards you made, Mindy. They are bright & happy - just what a college student needs, imo. Thank you for sharing.
