      @@claytonbrown7120 Contrived? Well, yes. Isn't that obvious? It's certainly not that they randomly happened across the shooting range with their handguns and camera in tow and spontaneously began to film a shooting video. It was purpose made to teach shooting, so yes, it is contrived. But, if anything, your comment falls more into the ironic definition of contrived than anything in this video. Smh..

    I have learned a lot from all your videos, but this one especially. My husband is a master marksman, and he does okay teaching me, but he takes it for granted that I know things I don't. Then, when I ask questions they don't truly get answered, or he things I wouldn't need answers if I just did what he says. I had gained some accuracy, but our last trip to the range proved futile. I couldn't hit anything. Then, I watched this video, and today, I knew exactly what was wrong. All along, I had "focused on the front sight" like he told me to, but I didn't understand centering it between the two rear sights. Guess why? Because when I asked him why they were there if I wasn't supposed to focus on them, he didn't take me seriously and fully answer my question in a way that I understood, because he says he thought I was joking. But, armed with the information from your video today, I can proudly say I achieved nearly 100% accuracy, hitting where I was aiming.

    Stav and Mac, as a new shooter, I appreciate this video so much. You guys both touch on a huge thing I've noticed as a beginner, that psychological flinch or overthinking that occurs when I'm trying to shoot at the perfect moment, instead of just accepting a general window of time to pull the trigger. Thank you both so much! Can't wait to get out and put these tips to practice 👍🏼

    It’s great that your boyfriend clarified that these are not defense or tactical drills. I think too many RUclips “instructors” fail to clarify that. In a real defensive or tactical situation you can’t “wait” while you slowly pull the trigger like the bad guy will give you all the time you need!! New shooters don’t understand the difference in fundamentals with different types of situations. Good video!

I used your one-hole technique; I let the earth move, tides roll, & rivers flow while my sights gently floated, then "let the gun surprise me". All of my shots, except one, were in the center of the small center circle! The other shot was on the line, just outside the center. I was pretty proud of myself!! Wow, this is the best shooting tutorial I've ever watched. I've shot over 800 rounds but the group was always around the lower-left corner (I'm right-handed). I tried everything on improving my grip but didn't work. After watched this video, I realized my mistake is exact what Mac said in the video. I was waiting for the sight at the center of the target and pulled the trigger. This is how the flinching occurred. I tried the trigger control technique taught by Mac and it worked perfectly. Now I learned "It's ok for the sight movement. Let the gun surprise you". I'm able to put the round right on the center of the target now. Thank you so much.

    I ran across your video on things NOT to do in a firearms shop / store, and it was very good, then I found this one. After 3 years of watching firearms videos here on RUclips, this one was the most enjoyable and informative. It kind of had a relaxing feel to it and helped me understand a lot more about trigger control and a new way to try and improve my accuracy. I'm 62 and only been into firearms for about 2 1/2 years. I don't think I'll ever be a Clint Eastwood, John Wayne or a Charles Bronson type Hollywood movie marksman. But trying to get to that level of shooting, learning from you two, will make it all the more fun to try. Thank you both and keep up the great teaching videos.

    Love this. As an archery coach I always try and explain conscious and subconscious actions. Your conscious actions should be all and fully on the target, full focus, fiscally and mentally. Your eyes can only focus on one distance at a time, so either your target or your sights will be in focus, it should be your target. When squeezing the trigger you should maintain full focus on the front target. The shot should not scare you as your focus should be on the target. When the shot goes off your subconscious should bring your firearm in line with the target. If you have doubts, think of how you catch a ball. You focus on the ball, fiscally and consciously and not on your hand. Your subconscious will then do all the calculations and place your hands in the right spot and close them in time? Think about that and believe that your subconscious brain activity is much more advanced than your conscious thoughts. You should never anticipate the trigger release, if you do then your conscious focus was not on the target. Seeing, feeling, hearing, smelling and tasting is conscious, keep all of that on the target. Muscle movement is subconscious, trigger squeeze, let your subconscious do its work and you do your conscious work.
    You can use this for all things in life, driving, surfing, cycling, ball sports and work.
    When you achieve full conscious focus on the target and you allow your subconscious to do its part, you will experience that Zen calm and clear feeling. I think it's because you don't consciously fight with your subconscious.
    In archery I always say you must become the eyes of the arrow and it will fly where you consciously focus. It's very difficult to clear your thoughts and apply full conscious focus on the target only, but the eyes of the projectile works for me.
    Thank you, love the channel

    Great trigger control advice. I was dry firing my shield with a laser cartridge while watching this and I’m pretty accurate when I know it’s not going to make noise. Now I get why it all goes awry at the range. I think this is going to really help. Will keep practicing dry but can’t wait to try with live ammo. Thanks much for posting this. New subscriber.

Just remember, not all sights have dots. I prefer the Warren Tactical sights with no dots. Just a note; You cannot see the target if you cover it up with the sight. Proper sight alignment is split with the top surface of the front sight. (Love your videos.)

    I will be trying these at the range next week. The ranges in our area require a holster class before we can draw unsupervised. But that’s coming up, lol. Paul Hokinson I’m sure it’s an insurance thing in our state as I haven’t found a range without it since we moved back. I keep a training log but don’t think it is transferable to another range here. It isn’t long and the one without it said just hire one of the trainers for an hour or so. Without the check off you are only allowed to be in low ready or lay the firearm down on the bench. I’m going to practice the drill at home and then get the check off.

    Personally, I teach people not to obscure the target with there sights, to "lollipop" it. At the worst, you get a consistent group 1/4" below where you intended, while still being able to see what you aim at. Bullets dont travel in a straight line anyway. That's just me. I appreciate your content. Because my wife feels like she relates to you as a shooter better than she relates to me. Thanks for that :)

    • @dontneedtoknow5836
      @dontneedtoknow5836 4 года назад +4

      If you are shooting dominant eye only that is a good practice.
      If you are shooting both eyes then it isn't much of a problem.
      You still have the cross point blind spot from your hands and firearm being in the way ( can't see past them ), so anything that happens on the opposite side will not have the depth perception you need to evade.

    • @jonathanschubert9052
      @jonathanschubert9052 4 года назад

      @JKay11235 I guess you might find that more preoccupying to focus on keeping your sight picture in the middle of the target instead of underneath. Besides that still obscures the target, assuming of course the target is small at a given range. Take for example how an M16 is zeroed. The bullet travels on an arc that crosses a level plane at 25 and 300 yards ascending and descending respectively and its maximum height above that plane is only a few inches, which means if you aim just below the target, you can make shots with the same sight picture from 25 all the way to 300 yards. And this is something very difficult when you obscure the target with your sight
