    My Dogo watches everything that moves. He's not interested in squirrels so much as he is deer! He even knew how to cut her off to shorten his distance quicker. Thankfully, she did get away but that was my first opportunity to really see his prey drive. Unsettling and incredible at the same time.

    thank you for your insight into this lovely looking awesome breed. i have an 11mnth old i got at 3months and only last month after constant research and being on bulldog groups and seeing an identical dog on one of them, i have come to the very real and exciting conclusion i have a dogo cross bully and not a bully cross old english or mastiff as the previous owner argues. looking into this i discovered that both old english and mastiff is in the dogo argentino breeds bloodline as well as the virtually unheard of cordova dog breed, so old owners were somewhat correct. they vastly underestimate what they actually have and even argued with me that he is mastiff or old english bulldog cross which is what they were told. i aquired my companion from a neice..2 neices purchased one each ,one with the brown spot which is thicker boned and my other neice took the smaller one no one wanted due to thinking white bulldogs were usually rejects regarding breeding..my boy max has his ears thankfully and yes he can look like dalmation from behind.other friends said he is AM STAFF but i am sure glad i have the diligence to investigate..

    Agree with the lack of breed knowledge bit there really aren’t a lot of resources specifically for Dogo breed. My big guy chases after squirrels, lizards and frogs in our yard constantly it’s his favorite past time. The squirrels that come around our yard tease and torment the heck outta him.
    I would like to add that they snore very loud and are really just big babies in a muscular body ! Oh and the shedding bit, I don’t think you that any amount of someone telling me they shed could have prepared me for how much they actually shed.

    Hi!
    Just signed up to adopt “pongo”.
    The shelter gave his age was around 7 mos. from mexico Woman owned surrendered due to owner illness II was able to speak with the shelter worker that took him in. They had to drag him out of pen. We got him to yard. He was not responsive to treats etc. Extreme avoidance of everything.
    Not at all aggressive but desired no interaction.
    The shelter said…dalmation and pit…
    They said he was from Mexico, purchased from breeder.
    Have you seen behavior last ke this when rehomed at that age?
    I am picking him up Tuesday.
    Any advice?
    Thanks found content helpful!

    • @DogoArgentinoUSA
      @DogoArgentinoUSA  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately the Dogo argentino as a breed is seeing an absolute tsunami of surrenders most of which are young pups between the ages of six months and one year. Shelters are traumatizing I would imagine for a dog it’s similar to being in an insane asylum. My best advice is to pay good money for a professional trainer that has experience with guardian breeds. Train often.

    Dogo's with spots beyond the head is not an original dogo.

      They’re allowed a black spot on the fur forward of the ears not to be in excess of 10% of the head is acceptable with the whiter dog being preferred. Skin ticking (pigment on the skin not the fur) is normal and all DAs have ticking which increases with age.
