The Batman is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Batman. Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Films, 6th & Idaho, and Dylan Clark Productions, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The film was directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. It stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The film sees Batman, who has been fighting crime in Gotham City for two years, uncover corruption while pursuing the Riddler (Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham's elite.
Development began after Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in 2013. Affleck signed on to direct, produce, co-write, and star in The Batman, but had reservations about the project and dropped out. Reeves took over and reworked the story, removing the DCEU connections. He sought to explore Batman's detective side more than previous films, drawing inspiration from the films of Alfred Hitchcock and the New Hollywood era, and comics such as Year One (1987), The Long Halloween (1996-97), and Ego (2000). Pattinson was cast in May 2019, with further casting in late 2019. Principal photography took place in the UK and Chicago between January 2020 and March 2021.
The Batman premiered at Lincoln Center, New York, on March 1, 2022, and was theatrically released worldwide on March 4. It was delayed twice from an initial June 2021 release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film grossed over $770 million against a $185-200 million budget, making it the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2022. It received praise for the performances, score, cinematography, Reeves' direction, action sequences, and story, although the runtime received some criticism. The Batman is intended to launch a Batman shared universe, with two sequels planned and two spin-off television series in development for HBO Max.
Reeves envisioned a grounded, handmade design for the Batmobile,[169][170] with Chinlund and concept artist Ash Thorp designing the vehicle's engine to resemble a bat.[178][179] Reeves wanted the Batmobile to feel like a "wild beast" and move away from the tank-like design popularized by Nolan's Dark Knight films in favor of one that looked like a muscle car.[124][179] He looked to Stephen King's novel Christine (1983), which is about a car possessed by supernatural forces, for inspiration: "I liked the idea of the car itself as a horror figure, making an animalistic appearance to really scare the hell out of the people Batman's pursuing."[180] Reeves and Chinlund wanted the Batmobile to feel like its own character, and Chinlund prioritized function which reflected Batman's "single-minded focus on the mission".[181] Chinlund used a steel bumper for the frame, so Batman could "push his way through any obstacle", as well as the roof of a 1969 Dodge Charger; he left the back open since it did not require protection.[171][181] Four Batmobile units were built, with the primary driving unit powered by a 650bhp Chevrolet V8 engine constructed from over 3000 machined parts, and the other units being equipped with gimbals, water dispensers, and an electronic version for usability.[182][183] Another unit was built on a Tesla chassis for indoor and night shots.
Chris - Robin just called on the Batphone - and said "What a great build." Then a whooshing sound followed by the lonely sound of the dial tone. He LIKED it! Robin liked it. Well, so did I. Thanks for sharing.
Bandai kits are the best. Very good detail, excellent fit. Most of the time you don't need paint either.
Rainbow exhaust heat scars, genius! Love it!
Unreal build.
I'm scoring one to convert to a Slot Mobile!
Beauty hpiguy.
Always do build my models for me I love building and I will always love to build models.
I can’t believe you said, charger and Camaro in the same sentence. I love your videos buddy as a professional model of myself. I really appreciate the fact that you open up some of these kits and show the inside because then I can keep my wrapped cheers.
Would have been cool if they included batman figure... other words a great kit.
Perfect timing, thank you!
Just got this kit from Autoworld. Also bought some AAA battery powered fairy lights from Dollar General for some warm white, orange, red, and blue lighting options. Cant wait to start the build!l
I prefer the 66 Batmobile . New versions too dark for my taste. But you do pull off nice builds Chris. Keep em coming... I'll keep watching . Same Bat time.... same Bat channel
Nice build! I have worked on 5 Bandai models and you are right, great quality!
One thing about Bandai kits you have to watch for is painting the details and subassemblies, the tolerances are so tight that a layer of paint can keep the parts from mating. Another great build.
A great model to go with a great movie. This was the scariest Batmobile ever. That flaming orange hood and grill were straight out of Snowcrash. Seeing that orange fire in your rear view mirror reaches into your lizard brain fear of fire and forces you to move out of the way.
Definitely more Bandai!
This reminds me of Kurt Russell's Nova from Death Proof...oh now that would be a Kool kit!
Looks pretty nice - guess I will have to watch the movie now.
Did Batman ever use a Chevy Nomad wagon for crime fighting??? LOL! Sure would like to see your take on a Nomad build bud.
Love it! Yes Chris, more Bandai kits.
Chris, guy you told me where to get those helping hands years back, ive been meaning to thank you for the info they really help
Cool!
Absolutely Sweet kit and build I like it❤👊
Cheers 🍺🍺KC Cradle Mountain Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺🤝🇺🇸😎👍
Actors most of the time aren't bad. They just do what they're told to. And Twilight was cringe to start with.
Anyway, back to the kit, not surprised it's that nice. I mean, it's Bandai. Really cool results too. Hopefully they also, at one point, do 1/25 scale of that kit. I try to stay in the same scales, not to be all over.
If you want to make more Bandai, I suggest Gundam kits! Not the '80s ones tho!
A beautiful build that's for sure.
Great build Chris it might be just the right size at this scale
i build bandai gundam model kits and the engineering on them is the best ive ever seen
Awesome Chris. So fun to watch. Looks great.
Neat kit. Yes please would like to see more batmobile kits built. Thank you for sharing this kit from your personal collection.
You got it!
Never thought I would find a better model kit company than Tamiya but Ban Dai is 🔥🔥🔥 love this Batmobile
Always love building a Bandai kit. They are also easy to customize!
Great build . Now I have to get 2 maybe 3 of them.
Build the rest.......Would love to see them too.
Really nice build Chris!
You did a fine job on this kit. I bought the kit also and have just put it back in the box because my eyes are so bad, I boloxed the entire thing when I missed an exhaust assembly and the taillight lens assembly. I began to take it back apart and had superglued some of the parts together. Then I lost one of the turbos and can't find it anywhere. So, I guess I'll find another and try again. Very discouraging. I go in for eye surgery in January.
Very fordish
Yes more Bandai kits please!
hpiguys Workshop Chris you did a Super job on Building This Batman Batmobile From BanDai And yes I would like to see More Bat mobile Model kits just like this one you finished.I seen The Batman movie it was a long movie..And Chris you pay attention to fine detailing I enjoy watching all of your builds Thank you Have a Great evening 👍👍👍👍👍
Only one word fir this build:
That was FUN!
Definitely one of the best Batmobile designs of all time. I love the "American Muscle Car on Steroids" aesthetic.
It's hands down the absolute worst.
This looks a bit retro for the latest Batmobile and reminds me of the Mad Max type vehicles. I see a hint of Dodge Charger in the styling. Love the simplicity but well detailed nature of this kit.
I liked this kit. I was surprised that it was snap together. Went enjoyable.Very limited painting.
Great 👍👍👍👍
Yes! More Bandai Batmobiles puleeze!
Uh oh, asking about doing more Bandai kits? Here come the Gundams!!! 😂😂😂 I’m joking, heck I used to do gundam kits. They’re actually fun.
Most definitely
Nice work 👏 would love to see more Kits like this. 👍
That's sick, I love movie cars the best 👍
Amazing build, absolutely loved this batmobile in the movie it is a beast. Definitely have to get this one for my stash, been getting all the different batmobiles and slowly building them.
I got this kit in the mail today it has a ford motor in it lol
I must admit, that is a pretty cool Batmobile Chris! Excellent work!
You put those front calipers on backwards otherwise a fantastic job as always thanks Chris!!
I’d definitely like to see the other Batmobiles too - especially the 1989 one!
Another great build and review. I really enjoy your videos!
Very nice build. That kit is wonderful. Love the heat stained exhaust. Thanks for that tip. I really learned something there. As always, thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Looking at the car from the rear, the outline is in the shape of a bat.
I would like to see all batman cars. Especially the Adem West card.
Awesome.
Man what a sweet build love how solid it looks when it's done great job sir thank you for another great review
BanDai, BanDai, BanDai, BanDai more please.
Great video !
That drive shaft going forward from the differential and the exhaust under the front fenders, tells me the rear engine was just a mock up for the real car. it probably had a regular LS engine under the hood in front. Then again, who would be able to drive that thing with twin turbos sucking air in the cabin?
To quote Marty in bttf 2 "all the best stuff is made in Japan" 😂
Sorry - I didn't see the movie - so I don't understand the exhaust ports coming out of the side of the body....and, also, the individual headers out the back ... ??? ....
I have the tumbler from the Batman, dark knight series.
Robert Pattinson. He played on one Harry Potter movie as Cedric Diggory, a bright upper classman who was more experienced than our boy hero-- till Wormtail (aka "Peter Pettigrew", Timothy Spall), one of Tom Riddle's (aka "Lord Voldemort"; Ralph Fiennes) lackeys, murdered him with the illegal killing curse, Arvada Kadavra (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire [2005, Warner Bros, Mike Newell, Patrick Doyle]).
Wanna see some cool mold making? Adam Savage built a big Gundam RX-78, made also by Bandai. Highly recommend checking it out.
This Bat Mobile has some major body parts from a DeTomaso Pantera.
Nice model, love your videos!
Question on the Pledge floor polish you use: 10+ years ago I bought Pledge Future shine to dip my glass in, never heard of using on the whole car until you. I tried it on an old model, pretty darn shiny but I think my bottle is getting a little old and dry as the surface wasn't perfectly smooth. Looking to buy a new bottle and it's hard. Future no longer made. I assume Revive It is equivalent but no stores have it. I can buy it online for $37-47 a bottle! Are you aware of any alternatives? Quick Shine is available in stores and quite a bit cheaper, but of course not sure it works as well.
You'll want to watch my video of the Ford Courier Firestone pickup for the answer on Future floor polish. ;)

@@hpiguy Hi hpiguys workshop are you gonna get the AMT tie fighter and to a review
Hey Chris the car used in the batman was a 68 dodge charger they cut it up
Hi, love watching your video's what brand gel pens do you like? I've bought some but find they seem to A) tips get funky, B) run out rather quickly? Also I've been challenged to find a good assortment that isn't flooded with neon colored pens. (Some times you just want some good old basic colors) :) Thanks
Thanks Chris, I've been wondering how this kit would build. Bandai's engineering is top notch. And yes, I would like to see you build the Bandai Tumbler at least.
Oh man, I had no idea they make more Batmobiles, just put the Tumbler and the 89 Batmobile on pre-order!
I'll agree that Bandai kits are the absolute best engineered plastic kits on the market. Absolutely unmatched runner design and mold quality. Makes the stuff from Round2 and Revell look even more dated than usual.
What Jelly Roll Set Did You Use…??
Thanks
You forgot to say Sponsorship by Bandai….😂🤣😂🤣😂
I wish. I bought this kit.
I so appreciate your review about this kit, if you have seen my channel, you know I'm a huge Batman Modeling fan. I'm placing this kit on my want list, definitely. I'd like to invite you to my channel and see how I've done some of my Bat vehicles.
Did you wash the piece before painting them?
Hello model kit lovers !!
I am wanting to do a diorama for my 124 scale and 125 scale model cars
Does anybody know if there is a kit out there of a mechanic shop?
Thank you kindly.
Whare can I get/find the pencils at
will you be building the george barris rickshaw?
can somone tell me if the batman MC farlane fit in the car?
I love the kit but not the scale. It would look so out of place sitting next to a 1/25 kit.
Wth ? No imagination ? I thought the Clooney batmobile was the worst. NOPE hold my beer , it's like they didn't even try.
That's no bat mobile
This is 1 body i would not paint
I personally didn't like that batman movie. Batman acted like a schizophrenic meth addict. And the car looked slap stick. Possibly the WORST bat car so far. Now on the other hand. It looks like a great post apocalyptic car.
Crazy opinion of the film.
Agreed. I think it was the voice over for me in the beginning that set the tone... seemed like they were incapable of nuanced writing so Robert didn't get to do anything except emo kid batman. I have adored batman since Michael Keaton in 1989 and I thought they could have done it SO much better.
Nailed it! Mad Max for sure. Not Batman.
You sir, are a marvel fan.

I used to be a Marvel fan. But lately they've become less Marvelous and more Marginal. One time Hero's are no longer Heroes. Their just Drag Queens and Confused sexual devients. So, No, not a fan anymore.
As always your model building is quick and well-done, but that version of the Batmobile is the ugliest thing I've ever seen onscreen.
Yeah it's not for everyone, I started to dig it more as I built it.
