If she'd bothered to play GTA V properly she'd realise it's actually a fairly clever deconstruction of the fact being a successful career criminal doesn't make you happy, and that all 3 protagonists are deeply flawed in interesting ways. One of the things that sticks with me about the story is how Michael "had it all" in terms of the standard American Dream despite being in witsec, yet hated it and was constantly bored. It's decent social commentary, for a video game at least, while still being fun to play.

I used to play GTA since GTA5 when I was a kid, I remember playing it on my PS3. while I wasn't allowed to play it. but now, as as adult, I think that GTA to me is not my taste in games, in fact, this game series is totally not worth to be in my game library, like GTA5 or 6, and they both suck in my honest opinion.

What's surprising is the fact that this woman is one of Rockstar OGs, considering she was one of the few women in the company that adhered to the "frat boy" workplace culture at the time. She's been with Rockstar since GTA III, and to expect such behavior from someone who's been with Rockstar for over 20 years is quite strange to say the least.
But I think if we're being realistic, Take-Two executives specifically put Kolbe in the position of power to change the workplace culture at Rockstar.
Around this time Rockstar started censoring their own content (something they had never done before) and some of the Rockstar OGs started leaving the company including Dan Houser and Mike Unsworth. Sadly, another great company was ruined by corporate greed and a burning desire to please everyone for the sake of increased profits.
I have noticed certain people who’ve been generally nuanced and down to earth get caught up in the cultural degeneration and just do a complete 180. Betraying all the values and principles they used to have and going along with this rejection of reality and common decency. It’s honestly like they went insane.
How can a Studio create a game such as GTA without a "fratboy" Culture? I don't know that it can. I love GTA and one of its primary hallmarks is crude and rude humor. How can you do that is a say a board room where people get offended, where you can't show the humor without somebody getting offended? I simply don't know it can be done. That is true, but Japanese companies are still making amazing games. I'm looking forward to Dragon's Dogma 2 and Tekken 8 next year. As good as GTA 6 looks, modern gaming has finally taught me not to pre-order anymore. If a game as high tier as Starfield can be so riddled with woke trash, then I fear GTA will go the same way. Best to expect the worst and save my money. If I'm wrong, it will be a pleasant surprise and I can happily purchase the game.

Having a female lead in a game about criminals is ridiculous. There is a reason that there are no classic criminal movies with females (like The Godfather or Scarface etc) because it just does not make any sense. Imagine trying to remake these movies but replacing the men for women. Everything else could be the same but it would still go from classic to completely parody. Having Lucy actually be weaker when in close combat would at least be a slight +. If they dont do this then that is definite proof that R has lost their touch completely. They are the company that have always done things to make them believable to the smallest tiny detail, even going so far as the shrinking testicles of horses depending on coldness and weather in Read Dead Redemption 2. If they gloss this over it is as clear as proof as one can get that they just dont care about that anymore and that pushing agendas are now more important than the quality and sense of detail of the game.

This whole franchise started in my part of the world, Scotland, as a top down crime simulator basically. It was new, it was edgy, it was brilliant. Each new version improved the overall world and the gameplay was at its core. Now it looks as I wanted it to look long before the graphics were possible but it’s lost sight of its roots.

Even the story content trailers could be hit or miss because at a glance, Gta 4's The Ballad Of Gay Tony and the depiction of Bernie in Gta 4 would be red flags and yet they ended up being phenomenal parts of the game. Saints Row, such a sad state of affairs. What a mess. Volition were ao combative with the fans that it ended up bankrupting them. Unbelievable that they thought the tried and true "Don't like it, don't buy it" theme would work here. That killed G4 TV's reboot when Frosk mentioned that, it killed Battlefield V's launch and hurt sales for the game for ages, etc. Never ever talk down to your fans and challenge them to skip the game or product
And what's really sad is that the previous entries in the Saints Row franchise (at least the ones I played, I didn't play the very first one since it's not on PC) would let you have pretty much any kind of protagonist you wanted. Male or female (with multiple voice options associated with each, but you could mix and match), any race, tons of options for hair and outfits, and all the sliders you could ever want. Your protagonist could be a "male power fantasy" dude, a girlboss, some kind of gender ambiguous biped, or anything else you could come up with. It was truly a "pick your own pandering" setup and it worked great. They didn't need to go woke. But they did it anyway and it crashed and burned.

The budget for GTA6 is crazy. If GTA goes woke, Rockstar will go down like Bud Light and Disney. It's their choice.

When is/was bud light collapsing? Their stock is doing great right now and monthly sales were UP during the trans debacle. The reality is that the demographic who got mad over Bud Light's marketing is too poor to afford anything better.

Our beloved nerds who once created within this media with fans in mind first have been replaced with people who absolutely despise you & me. These people dont care about GTA, they care about their career advancements and "the message". Ive been playing GTA all my life, 3 being my first. Im saddened to see this happen to my favorite franchise.
It's funny, they were the same people we memed on years ago, remember "this is why I fucking hate video games" "cause it appeals to like the male fantasy"?
The really sad part is back when this was starting with other games like BioWare's- mass effect and dragon age franchises, bethesda's fallout 4 just to name a few and others before these some people and some RUclipsrs tired to point it out they tried to say something about it but was told to shut up and who cares if a couple games turns woke well now you see it they're not going to stop until people make them they want everything games, movies, music, social media everything to be woke and honestly I don't know if the video game industry will survive it at the end.
@user-jr2fn3ob8m Very true. If Rockstar goes woke and fails considering it took billions to make, that's not a good sign for the gaming industry at large. Really don't want to see that happen tho. But you're right. I'm not a RUclipsr however I was one of the people saying gaming is moving further away from actually entertaining people since last of us 2. I was met with "this just isn't for you". Or "you just don't get it".
At the end of the day... is just a game.

Well spoken. Yeah it is sad, if it goes down like that but everyone seems to be reacting as if the game is already out and is full of wokeness, when we should all wait and see. I've been playing GTA since the actual first one on PC, and the highlight is still the 3D era with Vice City and San Andreas. The mix was never quite as right after that, for gameplay reasons mostly. Game feel of cars etc was off in both 4 and 5, driving lost some of that arcade/stunt goodness.
