@A_I_X it doesn't use the same system, unless you're talking about the fact that it requires a phone to work. But the Google cardboard ecosystem is completely different from the Oculus ecosystem that the Gear VR used. The Gear VR was a collaboration between Samsung and Oculus, the company that made the Oculus Rift. At the same time, Oculus released the Oculus Go, which was basically a Gear VR with the phone built-in. It had all the same apps on it's store, which you can still play with the Oculus Quest. Actually the first VR headset was made by Ivan Sutherland in 1968, that connected to a computer and was first introduced as a concept in 1965. It featured a virtual world viewed through a HMD and used 3D sound and tactile feedback. And users were able to interact with the world through the computers hardware. It had to be held up by a central arm attached to the ceiling because of the weight but allowed freedom for the user to look and move around within the immediate area. Nice try though with the Samsung VR.

Oculus DK1 was released in 2014 (10 years ago) while not really for consumers still was available to the public if they chose to get it and the first headset released with 6 Degrees of freedom was the oculus CV1 released in 2016 just before the HTC vive and gear VR
Then at least you have to say Nintendo did it first, with the Virtualboy they released a VR Headset in the 90s :D Also at this "Smartphone-VR" time there were so many doing this, like the google cardboard project.
1. NOBODY said apple was the first ever smartphone company to make VR. 2. Apple made AR/VR, Not just VR. 3. This is equivalent to a cardboard cutout. The apple vision pro has more specs than 80% of the phones out there, Better picture quality than most TVs, The ability to record and play 3d videos, RETINA ID for login, The ability to capture your face and expressions, Advanced algorithms to capture and track your hand gestures in real life, A gradual switch between AR and VR, 360° sound system, 100% better head tracking, And soooo much more. What you are doing is like comparing one of those letter-only LCDs used for electronics to an ultra wide modern TV.
These two are totally different things bro. Put the price thing aside, Vision is better in terms of productivity and concept. That VR you are holding is not even samsungs patent and It isn’t really a solid device. Its not about who did it first, its about who did the better execution. Tap phones for contact sharing samsung did this tech back in 2012 but it all depends on the execution, apples execution was very great that everyone is talking about it.

I remember being blown away when I got my Note 8. It was a smartphone, a notepad and pen, a desktop computer and a VR headset.
Granted, it was nothing compared to todays equipment but man that phone really opened my eyes to the potential of smartphones
Doesn’t’t matter who dis it first, it only matters who did it better (to be honest samsungs is still better because it was barley like 30 bucks, more convenient, and epik)
I had one of those in black. I miss it sm😢
Dude!! This came with my Galaxy S7!!! It was my first VR experience 😍
Oculus DK1 was released in 2014 (10 years ago) while not really for consumers still was available to the public if they chose to get it and the first headset released with 6 Degrees of freedom was the oculus CV1 released in 2016 just before the HTC vive and gear VR
Then at least you have to say Nintendo did it first, with the Virtualboy they released a VR Headset in the 90s :D
Also at this "Smartphone-VR" time there were so many doing this, like the google cardboard project.
Wait that’s what my mother has with the galaxy note 7. It had a vr gear bundle and let me tell you, it was the best experience of my life as a kid
You know, This is one thing samsung always do, they want to be the first in market no matter the product standards. It doesn’t matter who did first when the product is this super expensive, Its “worthy or not” is what matters. I use both samsung and apple devices and they all are very good in a way.
Its not about who did it first, its about who did the better execution. Tap phones for contact sharing samsung did this tech back in 2012 but it all depends on the execution, apples execution was very great that everyone is talking about it.
Samsung has an actual competent vr headset the samsung odyssey vr. It was one of the best windows mixed reality implementations
If you don't recognize it this headset was used on every rollercoaster with vr like Superman the ride
I like you as you address the ignorant people about how android always does stuff first and Apple only does it when it is market standard but you do glaze Samsung (not android phones) way to much when they are just as bad as Apple in most cases (I’m a Apple and Samsung user btw cuz I use two phones)
Bro is trying to find the apple vision pro counter 💀💀
I had one of these for my S7 Edge back then. Cool stuff, the crazy thing was that they where equipped with VR Software from Oculus themselves. I was even able to play Minecraft Pocket edition with it. Sadly they discontinued the software support around 2020 or something.
I’ve got this headset and the galaxy s8+ 7 years ago for christmas.
Apple’s headset isn’t VR it’s AR… they were very clear that it’s an AR headset, so apple did it first
I remember this dude have apple stuff like a year ago and he suddenly changed to Samsung. He even said android is better than ios, big respect for him
Now remember it had mixed reality as well because the back camera...
Samsung : We not only make phone we make EVERTHING
He’s obviously taking shots at the Vision Pro and we don’t care
Apple waits to do it well, not crappy and early.
Anyone else used this to watch a VR undertale fight and jumped across the room just to dodge a small fireball?
dude’s like my ex, will always be there to start an arguement.
Samsung was first to launch vr head set sounds good
Bro just hates apple at this point 💀💀
I have a similar one at home!! Thanks for making this video!
8 years ago? I feel ancient
I dont understand how no one talks about the microsoft ar headset its just like the one form apple and came out 3 years before
Bro the VR and AR are completely 2 different things, you can’t say that android did it first, but thanks for the information because I didn’t know it, and now I’m interested in it
Yeah, I remember that. Didn't samsung realize it wasn't going anywhere and cancel it.
Well as a Samsung user Samsung made
1. You can share your phone with a different phone
2. And the Samsung vr set
Ita revolutionary when you put most powerfull and efficient computing processors on vr
Wait… so I could grab cardboard, cut it out into a VR hear set, put my phone with a 360 video inside and call my self revolutionary of a 12 kid to make a VR headset?😂
This was made in collaboration with Oculus (before being aquired by FB)
and was made AFTER the first oculus dev kitz so it TECHNICALLY wasn't the first
Yep , move window or open apps with your hand with out touching the phone !!!
8 years dame I'm growing old in a blink of an eyes
Don't forget that HTC made the Vive Pro and Pro 2 as well.
