I just ordered the M4 coated version from BladeHQ. Still planning on getting the CPM REX-45 Shaman when released to pair up with the Rex-45 Manix2 I just received. (Spyderco M4 Shaman Compression Lock Knife Natural G-10 (3.6" Black) C229GM4PBK)
Ron Wooley yo what time did you get this yesterday. You may have got the last one I clicked add to cart yesterday then all of a sudden it was out of stock. But I did find one off of a friend brand new He made a little off of me tho
@@theknifeconnection9571 I'm not sure what time I placed the order, but I went back to check stock regularly and it remained available until the next day. (That surprised me) There is another knife I'd love to grab, but can't justify the expense right after the Shaman purchase. Spyderco PM 2 Maxamet at BladeHQ Spyderco Paramilitary 2 Knife Dark Gray G-10 (3.47" Satin Maxamet) C81GPDGY I hope someone jumps on that and gives it a good home.
Spyderco's Japanese makers have a minimum order quantity of 1200-1500 pieces, so Sprint Runs of models made there are generally that size, but can be subdivided into more than one edge type or color. Sprint Runs of models made in Golden are more flexible, there have been some as small as 400 pieces, some as large as 1000 or more. When the primary feature of the run is an exotic steel, the poundage increments in which Spyderco must purchase that steel can be a factor, along with their assessment of how many they expect to sell.
Mine was waiting for me when I got home today, I feel the same way about you do but this one is going to be a user. I will be taking it apart and rounding over the inside edge of the scales. I think it is a beautiful folder!
wrjames38 Well it looks like you shouldn’t be commenting on these things. St. Nicks did do a run on the Shaman with blood red scales and a DLC coated cpm 4v blade. Knife Joker which is another small vendor that you think supposedly won’t do sprint runs on the Shaman, did a cpm Cruwear steel DLC coated blade with forrest green scales Shaman as well. Never doubt the little guy.
bp69 Simple! There’s not that much of a difference in all these “Supper Steels” these days.....not where the average or typical knife owner will ever be able to tell a difference. Comparing the M-4 with say S90V, or even S35V isn’t enough worth making a mad dash to buy something that’s considered a “Sprint Run.” Knife makers love people who are easily motivated to let loose of their hard earned money. The biggest difference in M-4 is obviously harder to sharpen of course, and quick to rust if not oiled down a little. Just saying it’s not worth making a mad dash to get in line to buy one simply because it’s available in M-4. Just highly overrated in today’s world of other Super Steels that’s on the market.
Nice you got one!!! Good to see a quick post and am excited to try and get one sometime this year..........hopefully not for double the price! Sold out in like 3-4 minutes.
I had been wanting to try out a Shaman for awhile and almost bought the S30V version, but right before I did I saw this exclusive version was due out so I waited and took my chances to snag one. Luckily I was quick enough to get one and WOW do I love it! It’s thinner than I expected and just melts into my hand. Fantastic knife!
Have you tried EDCi for rust/patina prevention? I use it on all of my blades (both non-stainless and stainless), and I have seen no unintended rust or patina. Give it a try!
I love mine but I think the blade grind at the rear by the ricasso is garbage. Spyderco always leaves a bit of unground blank there but with the Shaman its huge.
Actually most exclusives from the larger vendors like Blade HQ, KC, Knives Plus, etc do 1200 on the more popular pieces. BHQ ordered this run 18 months ago and definitely underestimated the demand. They won't make the same mistake on the DLC run!
I would be interested in having the handles dyed, can you recommend someone who could provide this service? Also the compression lock tab is very stiff when trying to release, is this normal and if so can it be made easier to disengage.
I don't know about correcting the stiffness of the lock, but most people boil water on a stove top and use rit dye to achieve the color they want. I have never done it, but I've heard it's really easy. Nick Shabazz has a recent upload showing how he did it.
They went in about 30 min tops. Im jealous I didnt get one. I did get one of the Drunkens released today though so its all good. Keep up the good work man!
I love the Shaman. And the Manix 2. Just got this one on Ebay and at a price I was comfortable paying, the same price as the s90v sprint which I also have. Missed the St. Nick's drop, because I'm not into coated blades, but I did think about it for a few days before they went on sale. Now I'm waiting for the Cruwear one to come out and fingers crossed my preorder goes through! \m/
Saw it like 2 days before it went up for sale was like naw I don't like that jade g10.. now that I'm seeing it in a bunch of videos I'm like man should have picked one up I kinda like it now
Supposedly the run was ordered 18 months ago and Blade HQ asked for only 600...not the usual 1200 piece exclusive /sprint amount! Guarantee the DLC version will have more...hopefully!
Less than impressed with the one I got. Only thing wrong is the action is very stiff and the compression lock is equally as stiff. I'll come back to.it next week and see if I warm up to it.
The Blade HQ site was working slow because of the amount of traffic for this knife. I had fully completed the transaction, and while I waited for my order confirmation the screen went blank then came back instead with "this item has been removed from your cart". That's total bull$@#t
Good knife. Excellent steel. But... I’m so tired of the entire ‘exclusive’ & ‘sprint run’ game that Spyderco endlessly plays (as do far too many other production makers). Whatever happened to simply making a good product at a fair price with wide availability? Then take your product & continuously improve it. As much as I’ve wanted a Shaman for awhile I think I’m done with Spyderco & any other maker who perpetually play this game.
BHQ has both versions in stock right now. 15:10 eastern, 08/12/2022.
beautiful knife !
I LOVE IT !
I WANT ONE !
can't afford it .
damn.
Mam w czarnym G10. Najpiękniejszy nóż na świecie.
This is the one I really want. I hope one pops up when I'm in a position to take advantage. Love it.

It'll make one hell of a user. One of the best! Enjoy it!
It’s nice seeing working hands on a guy reviewing tools 🙌🏽 Respect man
Very excited for the day the St. Nick's with Red Scales and DLC blade drops. Or a River's Edge Cutlery exclusive...
I wouldn't count on St Nick's or REC doing a exclusive on the Shaman. ..they're small vendors! More likely to get a PM2 and Lil Native first....

These comments are over a year old.
I have a Manix 2 in M4, and personally, I don’t want any more M4 blades. Totally overrated. So, I will keep my Shaman S30V all day everyday.
The Apostle Pipe smoker why do you think that

I have the pm2 and manix2 jade/m4 uncoated that are still new in box unused
Why? Doing no good in the box...
I have so many more knives that they never made the rotation

It was 4 mins for it sell out and bladehq never said quantity but usually exclusive batches are 500-600.

Very nice. I want one ! Thanks for sharing !!
These sold out in about 8 mins I checked how many were in stock after ordering there was 232 in stock 2 minutes in.
Been trying to find this one for a while!!

Love the knife and the M4 blade steel. Jade scales not for me.
