    An idea: You should make a video about truck engines with more than 8 cylinders! Mercedes made V10 engines for many years, Detroit made V12, and Magirus-Deutz had an air-cooled 16 litre V12 about 60 years ago. There are most likely more of these.

      Isuzu makes the most durable V10 & V12 engines. Still plenty of vintage V10/V12 Isuzu trucks still on the road and not even restored! The earliest V10 Isuzu engine was introduced in the early 1970s, almost the same as Mercedes did.
      The last production Isuzu V10/V12 was until 2005. These are called Isuzu P- engine series from PA to PE. These are all naturally aspirated, really built to last.

      Scania also made a "free-breathing" D14 with about 260hp between 1971 and 1979.This version was mostly used in their bus models BR145 and CR145, but also in some 140 torpedo trucks from 1972 to 1976, but only for export. I wonder how this engine sounded. A local bus company had one of these but I was just a kid back then.
      The turbocharged 6-cyl. DS11 that had 275 - 300hp in those years was in fact more powerful than this V8

    The attempt is good, but you missed the most crucial thing. SOUND CLIPS of each engine! That alone earns a solid thumbs down. Sorry, but the disappointment is very real. You simply do not compile a list of such glorious engines, then NOT include sound clips! Especially the Detroit 71 series. All these engines are history. Engines that designed 50 or 70 years ago!!! They are too old to let them run now, very low efficiency and power and huge excaust emissions. I can understand the nostalgia that many old drivers have, the sound or the feeling is what they miss, but there are much better engines right now.

    • @AlanRoehrich9651
      @AlanRoehrich9651 11 месяцев назад

      Actually, no.
      The "emissions" is simply not an unsolvable problem.
      The truth is, most of the new engines do not achieve the claimed fuel economy.
      The new computerized diesel engines are extremely expensive, and mostly unreliable. They take an inordinate amount of time and money to repair.

    Ever thought why some V8 's sound better than others ? It's all in the firing order. Two cylinders on one bank firing consecutively and exhausting into one side manifold !
    Mack V8 cackle, Powerstroke V8 rumble, Subaru WRX flat 4 sounding like a miss at low revs / high torque.
    And that is why it is so ! (IMHO)

    In the 90:s I drove both Scania, Volvo and Mercedes. Scania and Mercedes back then had V8 engines, but Volvo had an inline six of 16 litres. As it was then, Scania was completely superior when it came to engine, comfort, cabin and power. Today, Scania is the only manufacturer in the world that produces V8 engines for trucks (as far as I know). It is so superior that the others should be embarrassed about how good it is. And off course there is also the sound of a Scania V8 🤩
